Worse decision ever

Horrible and will delay and find ways to increase your bill. Attorney dragged out my case and did nothing but make it worse. Found reasons to be unprofessional towards opposing attorney. Made a mess of my case just to bill more. Then wouldn't acknowledge payments even though I had receipts. T...hought I would just pay again. I was thankful I kept detailed notes. My next attorney was able to resolve my case quickly just by talking to opposing attorney which Mr. Davi wouldn't do. Very unorganized firm and Mr. Davi is late to everything and acts as if he is so important.

Awful

I don't typically review online but this experience was the worst and others need to know to not be taken advantage of. Do your homework on this lawyer and talk to other attorneys as ask about him. I fell for his fancy website and long resume. My next attorney laughed about it and said "Dion is k...nown for putting down any conversation or meeting he ever sat in and claiming he was a member or influential position, no other attorney has to try and build themselves up like him." "Dion spends more time trying to make up his own accolades and write his own press releases. Its a joke in the courthouse." My attorney took a mess that Mr. Davi messed up and cleaned it up quickly because the Judge actually respected him. Well the experience he built up was not accurate at all and all I got was excuses, delays, and rudeness from Mr. Davi and his staff that kept turning over. I was very uncomfortable around him and just wanted my case resolved. I eventually was creeped out enough by his advances and then rudeness when I said "no". He claimed he was the only one that could help and that it looked bad getting a new attorney. He was wrong it was the best decision for me and my family and couldn't have been happier to be done with this firm. I hope this helps someone.

As I have stated in a few previous replies, it is unfortunate that this reviewer posted anonymously and it is very unfortunate that review sites such as Avvo and Google allow people to make anonymous posts for two reasons. First, it makes it very difficult for a business owner or professional to evaluate the review and make any adjustments or corrections to processes that may have led to a dissatisfied customer or client. Second, it de-legitimizes the review process by allowing anyone to post a negative review whether or not the person was an actual client or customer. I suppose I should find some solace in my own personal knowledge that this person is not a legitimate client and I know this for several reasons. One of which is that the reviewer makes almost every possible negative comment from alleging my credentials are false, which they are not and can be fully substantiated, to alleging delays, staff turnover, and an innuendo of impropriety and feeling "very uncomfortable around him". Interestingly on that last comment, since March 2020, I have had only two or three in-person meetings with clients and they were all with male clients and court proceedings have been virtual for the most part with only Will County recently going to in-person. Another reason is that I am confident this is actually the ex-boyfriend of a longtime client again posting false reviews as it is ironic how as soon as that case goes back to court, the negative reviews start to appear with the same over the top statements. Even more incredible is that he makes the same arguments in court that he makes in his review posts, which makes it all the more identifiable. The one thing this alleged reviewer states that is true is you should do your homework when retaining an attorney. In doing so, you should make reasonable assessments about reviews, especially those that come from anonymous posters. If the allegations were true, wouldn't the review have more impact by not being anonymous? Every review site I have experience will allow you to use a first name and last initial. But then that would give someone an additional piece of information to confirm the legitimacy of the poster. Thank you for taking the time to read to the end.

Stay Away

This attorney is arrogant and thinks he can bill and delay the case. His relationships with other attorneys and arrogance delayed my case for months and he was the only one that won in the end. When I fired him, he filed a motion claiming he was withdrawing from the case and then threatened to sue ...me in court when he sent me a final bill for charges of work his firm didn't even do. He can't handle being broke up with, and I saw at least 4 attorneys quit his firm while I was there. Do your research and talk to any other attorney they will tell you about him. I hired another attorney and my case was resolved in less than 60 days. I lived in a nightmare for 2 years because of this firm. Stay away and you will thank me.

I take the reviews I receive very seriously and know that potential clients will do the same. As such, I must respond to this review and provide some facts for future viewers so that an informed assessment can be made. I strive to provide legal services that are both time and cost effective, and, I appreciate all reviews to ensure that my firm continues to do so. I pride myself on maintaining a good, open, and upfront relationship with my clients. However, there were several red flags to this review. As such, I have reviewed all of our client files to see if I could determine if we ever had a client named “Shannon” or anyone else that fit the allegations in the last three years, which we have not. Then a week or so later, this reviewer posted again on another directory under the name “Michelle” from Wheaton, which allowed me to make an even more thorough search of our records. My only conclusion is that the poster is not a client at all, but rather a party on the other side of a case or a competitor. Unfortunately, website directories do very little to ferret out who is and is not an actual client. To me, that is very unfortunate and deceitful to those relying on the information the directory is selling. I take these reviews very seriously as my reputation and character are incredibly valuable to me. I ask that you take into consideration comments from actual clients and the attorneys who took the time to endorse me. I also ask that you consider my years of service to the public and legal communities, and the fact that I have been nominated by my peers in the legal community as a Super Lawyers Rising Star 2010-2013, a Super Lawyer 2015-2020, and a Law Bulletin Leading Lawyer 2015-2020. Thank you for your consideration.

Business Man, Not a Lawyer

I trusted the ratings when I hired him. He was very pleasant when I interviewed him. As my case went on, I noticed he doesn't have enough problem solving skill and lacks empathy. You think a lawyer with his experience knows how to handle the court! He was unprepared and was disrespectful to cover his... unprofessionalism. I end up changing my lawyer but the damages he had done to my case stayed with me for a long time. Give yourself and your family a favor and don't hire him. His bills are more important to him.

I will apologize in advance if this seems longwinded but I take the reviews we receive very seriously and I believe that anyone reading this review should hear our perspective so that an informed assessment can be made. I strive to provide legal services that are caring, personal and effective, and, I appreciate this person’s review to ensure we continue to do so. We work with literally hundreds of new clients every year and I will not deny that occasionally a client does not see eye-to-eye with the court system or my view of a case; or both. I work hard to help a client understand how his or her fact situation aligns with the law or the way a particular judge applies the law. Sometimes it is hard for a client to accept some of the realities. Client personalities are interesting, especially in family law. Most times, if a person did not believe in his or her actions or perspective, he or she would not have acted as they did. As such, it can be difficult for someone to internalize how and why his or her actions do not align with the laws that govern a divorce or parentage case. This creates animosity in that person, which makes him or her feel that everyone is against them and is very difficult to overcome. Unfortunately, this person posted anonymously, which makes it nearly impossible to understand the situation and determine how we could have assisted the client better (assuming this is a real client) or prevent the same dissatisfaction in future clientele. However, by the title and comments that are made, I get the sense that the issues really stem from the financial burden of the person’s legal matter. There is an interested personality that we encounter as lawyers in that some clients have a belief that lawyers are obligated to share in the financially responsible for the client’s case. I will not deny that we have an obligation to provide a cost-benefit analysis of the case and ensure the fee structure is reasonable, but a client is the one responsible for deciding the overall direction and cost of the case. I believe that being a lawyer is a very noble profession as we work to resolve complex legal problems that can affect a person’s daily life. However, it is still a job and a means to support our families and the families of those that work for us. When I hear something to the effect of “business man, not a lawyer” or “his bills are more important to him”, it makes me understand the true nature of how the relationship broke down. Those words, or words to that effect, mean that a person felt that I (or any other attorney) should continue to provide legal services without being paid. This concept is astounding given that I know most any employee would stop working for his or her employer if they did not receive a paycheck or two. However, this type of personality expects that a lawyer should continue to work without being paid for months or even years. When this occurs, yes, I have to be more of a business man then a lawyer and concentrate our resources on those cases where the client is paying for our services, especially since my family and the families of my employees are counting on my financial support. If the business man in me did not come out to address this situation, there would be no business to provide assistance to the 300 plus clients we service on an annual basis. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this response and considering my legal services.
