Patrick has experience in many practice areas, including complex premises liability, automobile collisions, medical negligence, nursing home negligence, product liability, and appeals.
Along with another attorney, Patrick recently obtained an $831,679 verdict for a client who suffered a closed head injury in a car crash. Patrick also obtained a $267,000 verdict for a client who suffered injuries from a fall down incident at a west side high school.
Patrick has been part of trial teams that have obtained more than $40 million in verdicts on behalf of clients. Notably, along with two other attorneys, Patrick obtained a $25.9 million verdict on behalf of a client severely brain-injured in a horrific taxicab crash. He also obtained a $2.5 million judgment on behalf of a woman who suffered bilateral femur fractures in a bus crash in Mexico.
Patrick also assisted in obtaining a $1.357 million verdict against a doctor and his group after the doctor botched a circumcision on a one-day-old baby. Patrick was part of a trial team that obtained a $7.5 million verdict after a city worker was struck and killed by a dump truck. Patrick has also been intimately involved in obtaining numerous multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of clients.
Patrick has handled numerous appeals and successfully argued to affirm a 2016 jury verdict before the First District Appellate Court. Recently, Patrick has been part of appellate teams that protected an apparent agency verdict against a cab company on behalf of a severely brain-injured client, and reversed summary judgment in an apparent agency case against a hospital in a case involving a child severely harmed during birth.
In 2016, Patrick was honored by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as a top 40 Under 40 attorney. This list recognizes young attorneys who have the intelligence, passion, success in the office, desire to help the community, and a willingness to work hard at one of the country’s most important professions.
Patrick has presented to the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association on the topic of pre-suit investigation, and the Chicago Bar Association on the topic of rideshare and taxicab liability. Patrick has also prepared numerous presentations on complex legal issues to various audiences, including "Anatomy of an Anesthesia Malpractice Case" to the Midwest Anesthesia Residents Conference, "Focus Groups and Mock Juries," “The Use and Misuse of Special Interrogatories,” and “Proving Agency in Transportation Cases,” to the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and "Deposing Experts: What's New from the Plaintiff's Perspective" to the American Bar Association Litigation Section.
Patrick was selected as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 a distinction that is limited to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois. He was also selected by the Leading Lawyers Network as an Emerging Lawyer for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, an award honoring the top 2% of lawyers under 40 years old or practicing less than 10 years. Patrick was also recently selected to serve on the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s Board of Advocates.
Away from the office, Patrick sits on the auxiliary board of Lawyers-Lend-A-Hand to youth, a program that channels resources to mentoring programs to disadvantaged Chicago kids. He is also actively involved with the Chicago Bar Association and is a hearing officer of the Judicial Evaluation Committee. Patrick has served as the vice chair and chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Tort Litigation Committee.
Patrick received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 2008 and his J.D. from DePaul College of Law in 2011.
