This lawyer is "Super"man!
Helped extensively go into details in front of the judge to aid my case for my divorce and my child. Did a great job of defending my case in obtaining the best outcome for my child and myself. Wonderful staff that work with him! ( Ashley and Amanda). He and his firm were honest and to the point and didn't try to misuse mine or their time. I was very pleased with him and his firm and will continue to use him in the future.

Trustworthy
Dion Davi has represeted me through the most diifiicult and important moments in my life. As I was unaware of the law, he always took the time to explain to me what I didn't understand and what rights the law provides. He provided critical assistance to me prioritizing my objectives, working to solutions of problems I faced and providing reassurance even when the outcome was uncertain. Through all of this Dion Davi was patient, calm and trusthworthy and always maintained the best interests of my child. I trusted a stranger with my families future and I would recommend Dion Davi to anyone looking for an attorney.

Excellence at its best
He is excellent. I would hire him again. He helped me at my worst time. My last attorney left a mess and Dion fixed everything.

Excellent law firm... you want these guys in your side
I had an ongoing case which would give the ultimate challenge to Dion Davi and his firm. He embraced the it anxiously with open arms. Hiring an attorney for a divorce isn't an easy decision. I needed to replace my attorney very late in my case. When meeting with him I knew he was the right choice for me. He was very clear, decisive, positive and proved to me very up for the challenge. Everyone I met and spoke to in his offices were friendly, accurate and efficient in all aspects. I believe his negotiating skills are amazing and he was able to tackle things that my last attorney wouldn't even touch. You definitely want this law firm on your side. He is worth every penny I spent with him and his associate Adam. Don't hesitate and call them today. I am so happy and relieved to call this law firm mine.

The Best
As a father seeking sole custody I knew it was going to be a difficult case. Dion went above and beyond to make sure that I was well informed and had everything I needed. We won almost every motion. He was totally organized and left little for interpretation. I have refered 4 people to Dion and each one has been happy with his firm I feel that I was well represented and would recommend Dion anytime.

Assistance with correcting a shortfall in contribution for child support and healthcare
I was not pleased with the first two lawyers that I had enlisted to help me to navigate my divorce. After my divorce was final and changes occured with my ex-husband's job, I spoke with Dion Davi to see if we could finally solve this and be done with all these issues. I wanted to have the correct and fair answer to contributions needed by my ex for my children. I also did not want to have to keep paying so much money for legal fees. I am so happy that I found Dion Davi. He educated me as to all outcomes of the situation and guided the proceeding to a succcessful solution. I felt that he was considerate of both my time and money. I would highly recommend Dion Davi and his practice. I wish I had started with him first with my divorce proceedings!

Great to work with
I've worked with Mr. Davi for a number of years for a number of family issues, including divorce, change of residency/custody, and child support. I have found him to be knowledgable and professional at all times. He has the ability to make you see the situation rationally, and diffuse some of the emotion that always goes along with divorce and child custody issues. He tried to keep us out of court if possible , but fought for me in court when needed. I would (and have ) recommend him to anyone.

Professional counselor and concientious steward.
When I was sent into a tailspin after nearly 20 years of marriage I didn't know where to turn. I was referred to Mr. Davi by two coworkers facing their own difficulties. Mr. Davi was able to help me see my unique circumstances and counsel me on what issues were important and what issues were just incidental. My situation was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.

Highly Recommended
Mr. Dion Davi represented me in a family law case. I am extremely pleased with his high level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment. Mr Davi represented me in the return of my children from DCFS foster care. Without Dion's representation, I feel I would have never achieved getting my family back together. He has fought diligently for us. Dion was very understanding and honest of how the system works. He never judged me with my unfortunate situation. He guided me, believed in me and made me believe in myself and the judicial system again. After sitting through a 10 day testimonial trial to fight for my children, I truly thought my life was over. It was the worst experience of my life. Dion not only helped me emotionally, he fought for me like a tiger. His representation was top notch. Best of all everything he stated was factual and truthful. Dion was also very understanding in working a payment plan with me after the 10 day trial. The outcome of my trial because of Dion Davi was RETURN THE CHILDREN HOME. Mr. Davi is not only an attorney to us, he has become a friend and family. I put my life in his hands. With his top notch representation I now have my life and family back and we are complete. I am happy and whole again. I am back to being a full time mother. I HIGHLY recommend Dion Davi.

Straight talk
I had very candid conversations with Dion during my divorce, and I always found him to be equally candid back with me. He handled the legal proceedings professionally, and with timeliness. There was a hiccup at the end, that costs him a star on the rating, but I'm not sure he really knew what I wanted, nor what that which I wanted would mean. I'll take some of the blame on that, but I felt I was reasonably clear. I chalk it up to an unfamiliar situation. Dion corrected it VERY quickly, however, once the situation was clarified. I respect that.

Keep Looking
Dion Davi is out for himself. Through my case that lasted 3 years he continued to drive up the costs of litigation and refused to settle. Each time telling me he would make my ex cover the cost, and was never successful in that. I paid over $50,000 to Dion because he continued to make the case worse. I wish I would have listened to his peers when they told me to do my research about the type of character he had. A simple google of his name would have revealed he will take any case to get his name in the paper. It's not about winning as much as it is that he makes money. Since my case his firm has let him go, interesting to see his new 1 man firm. He even offered me a discount in my current bill of $200 to leave a high rating for him online. I declined as I would prefer to state the facts. He only has his best interests in mind. He is not afraid to drag his clients through the mud if it means continued litigation.

Response from Dion Malik-Davi February 26, 2013
It is unfortunate that this reviewer did not provide any identifying information so that I could address the specific concerns this person raises. This review has troubled me for sometime as I pride myself on maintaining a good, open, and upfront relationship with my clients and have never experienced anyone with the alleged concerns. As such, I have reviewed all of my client files to see if I could determine the identity of the reviewer. My only conclusion is that the anonymous poster was not a client at all, but rather, the ex-boyfriend of one of my clients. I take these reviews very seriously as my reputation and character are incredibly valuable to me. As such, I feel that I must respond to this review and provide some facts for future viewers so that an informed decision can be made. This reviewer makes allegations that support my belief for the following reasons: 1) The reviewer alleges that his custody case lasted 3 years. First, I have never represented anyone in a custody matter for 3 years. Second, the Illinois Supreme Court has mandated that the courts resolve all custody matters within 18 months unless good cause is shown. As such, an attorney is not in the position of being able to delay a case merely for financial gain. 2) The reviewer alleges that he/she was charged $50,000 for my services in the custody case. If a custody decision actually took 3 years, the actual cost would probably closer to $150,000, not the alleged $50,000, which is not an uncommon amount for a contested custody case. In any initial consultation, I always inform a potential client that a custody fight could easily cost upwards of $75,000-$100,000. 3) I do not have (and did not have) any clients that owe(d) $50,000 for a custody matter. Any cases that I worked on while I was at my prior firm and that still have (had) an outstanding balance are owed to my former firm. I am not collecting on such balances and could not be offering any alleged discounts. The partners of that firm would have been the only ones that could have authorized any type of discount to this “reviewer”. 4) I have never offered anyone anything for a review or testimonial, let alone have the audacity to offer someone a measly $200 after incurring the alleged $50,000 in fees. 5) I have represented someone for 3.5 years now, which was a case that started as a custody matter, and the client’s ex-boyfriend has made these very statements to me in failed attempts to rattle me while in court. In fact, the ex-boyfriend was making these comments during the same time that the “review” was posted. The fortunate part is that I have stayed with this client even though my personal and professional reputation and character have been attacked in order to ensure that the client is always protected against such abusive conduct. Unfortunately, I am unable to obtain any verifying information to identify a “reviewer” even when it is believed that the person is impersonating an actual client; and, the only suggested remedy is to leave a reply.

Awful
I don't typically review online but this experience was the worst and others need to know to not be taken advantage of. Do your homework on this lawyer and talk to other attorneys as ask about him. I fell for his fancy website and long resume. My next attorney laughed about it and said "Dion is known for putting down any conversation or meeting he ever sat in and claiming he was a member or influential position, no other attorney has to try and build themselves up like him." "Dion spends more time trying to make up his own accolades and write his own press releases. Its a joke in the courthouse." My attorney took a mess that Mr. Davi messed up and cleaned it up quickly because the Judge actually respected him. Well the experience he built up was not accurate at all and all I got was excuses, delays, and rudeness from Mr. Davi and his staff that kept turning over. I was very uncomfortable around him and just wanted my case resolved. I eventually was creeped out enough by his advances and then rudeness when I said "no". He claimed he was the only one that could help and that it looked bad getting a new attorney. He was wrong it was the best decision for me and my family and couldn't have been happier to be done with this firm. I hope this helps someone.

As I have stated in a few previous replies, it is unfortunate that this reviewer posted anonymously and it is very unfortunate that review sites such as Avvo and Google allow people to make anonymous posts for two reasons. First, it makes it very difficult for a business owner or professional to evaluate the review and make any adjustments or corrections to processes that may have led to a dissatisfied customer or client. Second, it de-legitimizes the review process by allowing anyone to post a negative review whether or not the person was an actual client or customer. I suppose I should find some solace in my own personal knowledge that this person is not a legitimate client and I know this for several reasons. One of which is that the reviewer makes almost every possible negative comment from alleging my credentials are false, which they are not and can be fully substantiated, to alleging delays, staff turnover, and an innuendo of impropriety and feeling "very uncomfortable around him". Interestingly on that last comment, since March 2020, I have had only two or three in-person meetings with clients and they were all with male clients and court proceedings have been virtual for the most part with only Will County recently going to in-person. Another reason is that I am confident this is actually the ex-boyfriend of a longtime client again posting false reviews as it is ironic how as soon as that case goes back to court, the negative reviews start to appear with the same over the top statements. Even more incredible is that he makes the same arguments in court that he makes in his review posts, which makes it all the more identifiable. The one thing this alleged reviewer states that is true is you should do your homework when retaining an attorney. In doing so, you should make reasonable assessments about reviews, especially those that come from anonymous posters. If the allegations were true, wouldn't the review have more impact by not being anonymous? Every review site I have experience will allow you to use a first name and last initial. But then that would give someone an additional piece of information to confirm the legitimacy of the poster. Thank you for taking the time to read to the end.

Response from Dion Malik-Davi September 7, 2021
Unfortunately, since this is an anonymous post I cannot give any specific context to the situation and; because it is very vague, I cannot judge the credibility of the post; however, I can share that my staff and I understand that with the types of cases we handle, the people involved can be quite emotional given that these are matters that affect people personally and their families. Unfortunately, sometimes a client does not want to hear what we have to say or how their version of the facts will payout in court. While I try to be sensitive, I also need to be very matter of fact because that is how a client can make sound decisions on how to proceed with a case, which is what a client should expect from his or her attorney. I have had the experience that some people (initial consultations and retained clients) will project the type of statements stated by this reviewer when confronted by an analysis of the facts and the law that does not align with a result the person expected. Sometimes truth sounds like ruddiness or the feeling of not being heard but I would rather have someone not be my client because I gave sound advice than to have a client be disappointed because I told that person what he or she wanted to hear.

Stay Away
This attorney is arrogant and thinks he can bill and delay the case. His relationships with other attorneys and arrogance delayed my case for months and he was the only one that won in the end. When I fired him, he filed a motion claiming he was withdrawing from the case and then threatened to sue me in court when he sent me a final bill for charges of work his firm didn't even do. He can't handle being broke up with, and I saw at least 4 attorneys quit his firm while I was there. Do your research and talk to any other attorney they will tell you about him. I hired another attorney and my case was resolved in less than 60 days. I lived in a nightmare for 2 years because of this firm. Stay away and you will thank me.

I take the reviews I receive very seriously and know that potential clients will do the same. As such, I must respond to this review and provide some facts for future viewers so that an informed assessment can be made. I strive to provide legal services that are both time and cost effective, and, I appreciate all reviews to ensure that my firm continues to do so. I pride myself on maintaining a good, open, and upfront relationship with my clients. However, there were several red flags to this review. As such, I have reviewed all of our client files to see if I could determine if we ever had a client named “Shannon” or anyone else that fit the allegations in the last three years, which we have not. Then a week or so later, this reviewer posted again on another directory under the name “Michelle” from Wheaton, which allowed me to make an even more thorough search of our records. My only conclusion is that the poster is not a client at all, but rather a party on the other side of a case or a competitor. Unfortunately, website directories do very little to ferret out who is and is not an actual client. To me, that is very unfortunate and deceitful to those relying on the information the directory is selling. I take these reviews very seriously as my reputation and character are incredibly valuable to me. I ask that you take into consideration comments from actual clients and the attorneys who took the time to endorse me. I also ask that you consider my years of service to the public and legal communities, and the fact that I have been nominated by my peers in the legal community as a Super Lawyers Rising Star 2010-2013, a Super Lawyer 2015-2020, and a Law Bulletin Leading Lawyer 2015-2020. Thank you for your consideration.

Business Man, Not a Lawyer
I trusted the ratings when I hired him. He was very pleasant when I interviewed him. As my case went on, I noticed he doesn't have enough problem solving skill and lacks empathy. You think a lawyer with his experience knows how to handle the court! He was unprepared and was disrespectful to cover his unprofessionalism. I end up changing my lawyer but the damages he had done to my case stayed with me for a long time. Give yourself and your family a favor and don't hire him. His bills are more important to him.

Response from Dion Malik-Davi November 11, 2016
I will apologize in advance if this seems longwinded but I take the reviews we receive very seriously and I believe that anyone reading this review should hear our perspective so that an informed assessment can be made. I strive to provide legal services that are caring, personal and effective, and, I appreciate this person’s review to ensure we continue to do so. We work with literally hundreds of new clients every year and I will not deny that occasionally a client does not see eye-to-eye with the court system or my view of a case; or both. I work hard to help a client understand how his or her fact situation aligns with the law or the way a particular judge applies the law. Sometimes it is hard for a client to accept some of the realities. Client personalities are interesting, especially in family law. Most times, if a person did not believe in his or her actions or perspective, he or she would not have acted as they did. As such, it can be difficult for someone to internalize how and why his or her actions do not align with the laws that govern a divorce or parentage case. This creates animosity in that person, which makes him or her feel that everyone is against them and is very difficult to overcome. Unfortunately, this person posted anonymously, which makes it nearly impossible to understand the situation and determine how we could have assisted the client better (assuming this is a real client) or prevent the same dissatisfaction in future clientele. However, by the title and comments that are made, I get the sense that the issues really stem from the financial burden of the person’s legal matter. There is an interested personality that we encounter as lawyers in that some clients have a belief that lawyers are obligated to share in the financially responsible for the client’s case. I will not deny that we have an obligation to provide a cost-benefit analysis of the case and ensure the fee structure is reasonable, but a client is the one responsible for deciding the overall direction and cost of the case. I believe that being a lawyer is a very noble profession as we work to resolve complex legal problems that can affect a person’s daily life. However, it is still a job and a means to support our families and the families of those that work for us. When I hear something to the effect of “business man, not a lawyer” or “his bills are more important to him”, it makes me understand the true nature of how the relationship broke down. Those words, or words to that effect, mean that a person felt that I (or any other attorney) should continue to provide legal services without being paid. This concept is astounding given that I know most any employee would stop working for his or her employer if they did not receive a paycheck or two. However, this type of personality expects that a lawyer should continue to work without being paid for months or even years. When this occurs, yes, I have to be more of a business man then a lawyer and concentrate our resources on those cases where the client is paying for our services, especially since my family and the families of my employees are counting on my financial support. If the business man in me did not come out to address this situation, there would be no business to provide assistance to the 300 plus clients we service on an annual basis. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this response and considering my legal services.
