About Jason
Biography
A native of northwest Minnesota, Jason Kohlmeyer learned the value of hard work early, spending summers on his uncle’s farm and serving in the U.S. Army Reserve as an intelligence analyst while still in high school. He worked his way through Concordia College in Moorhead and later earned his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul in 2000.
After clerking with the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Jason saw firsthand how critical it is for clients to have direct access to lawyers who listen, explain, and advocate. That belief shaped his approach when he co-founded his law firm in 2008—focused on delivering highly personal and effective legal service.
For more than two decades, Jason has practiced exclusively in family law, representing clients in Mankato, Rochester, and throughout southern Minnesota. His work focuses on:

• Child custody and parenting time disputes
• Spousal maintenance and child support
• Farm and complex asset divorces
• Post-decree modifications and enforcement
Jason has handled nearly 1,500 family law matters and is known for managing high-conflict divorce cases with a calm, strategic approach. Whether navigating a contentious custody battle or negotiating a fair division of marital property, he brings clarity, pragmatism, and deep local experience to every case.
He has also spoken nationally on family law topics and is committed to improving the profession through mentorship and continuing education.
When not in court or meeting with clients, Jason is often on his motorcycle, walking his dogs, or spending time with his family in Mankato.

Great attorney
