Richard Earl Hornsby

I hired Richard Hornsby years ago for a criminal case and, at the time, found him to be competent and effective. Recently, I reached out to him again for assistance in filing a petition to expunge my record under Florida Statute 943.0583, as I am a documented victim of human trafficking. To my sur...prise, he responded by incorrectly stating that I was ineligible for expungement due to being adjudicated guilty—completely ignoring the fact that this particular statute explicitly allows for expungement even when adjudication occurred, as part of its purpose to protect and support survivors of trafficking. This isn’t a gray area of law—it’s clearly written into the statute. What’s more concerning is the arrogance and dismissiveness of his tone. It’s incredibly disappointing, and honestly alarming, that an attorney responsible for people’s legal outcomes is so uninformed about a well-established Florida law meant to support victims. To be clear: I contacted him to pursue an expungement under Florida Statute 943.0583. Only after I pushed back did he acknowledge he was familiar with these expungements, but by then the damage was done. Had I trusted his word, I might have believed I had no legal options. That alone speaks volumes about how he views and treats survivors. If you are someone seeking compassionate, accurate representation—especially as a vulnerable or marginalized individual—please look elsewhere. You deserve an attorney who listens, communicates respectfully, and knows the law. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. If you are looking for the best Attorney you will ever meet, do yourself a favor and retain Mr. Hornsby. Sincerely and seriously. I have professionally worked in the legal field but personally needed an Attorney. Mr. Hornsby is professional, educated, highly intelligent, knowledgeable, respected and... admired by many. You get what you pay for. But let me be clear, he does his job better than 99 percent of other Attorney's. He is in a class of his own. He pulls no punches. He amazed me, and achieved results I didn't think were possible, and frankly I didn't think about the outcome. He literally does his job in a way that most could never accomplish. He is direct, matter of fact, to the point, and will not beat around the bush. If you are looking for an Attorney that will give you results look no further. I have referred 2 individuals directly that he successfully represented above what they hoped for in results. Including myself. His reputation proceeds him. He is KNOWN in the area and as stated previously, highly regarded and respected. Anyone facing legal proceedings wants a top notch attorney. Forget the fact that you NEED representation. You don't want to later say, I wish my Attorney had done this or said that. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH MR. HORNSBY. It shocked me that I would ever find an Attorney that I would be satisfied with, much less want to refer to others. I proudly do so, because he has not let me, my family, or friends down. He has and will achieve results. PERIOD. YOU WANT HIM ON THAT WALL...YOU NEED HIM ON THAT WALL...having been married to a USMC MARINE, I am accustomed to strong personalities. I don't intimidate easily. I doubt it is even fathomable to intimidate Mr. Hornsby in any meaningful way. I knew I made the right decision hiring him, when I felt like I was dealing with a Paris Island Drill Instructor. He is intelligent, savvy, proficient, honest, dependable, thinks outside the box, professional, hard working, and if you are really lucky, you might get to see his humorous side. Usually he is so focused and determined that there isn't much time for side conversations. He takes his job and work very seriously and that shows in his results. He is a pit bull when necessary but he also knows how to navigate through a China shop. Mr. Hornsby will never know the depths of my gratitude for being an Attorney I can trust, respect, admire and count on. Knowing you have the best Attorney on your side, one that others could not hold a candle towards much less measure up to, is a gift, that has allowed me to sleep in difficult times. I will be a client for life. I refer all friends and family to him. Any Attorney that voluntarily doesn't hide his case results, rather offers them to prove his results, is in an arena all his own. Mr. Hornsby did not let me down personally, nor my referrals. HE achieved results OVER what was agreed and promised. Not to mention when he walks in a room, YOU KNOW HE IS THERE. I know I am repeating myself, and I don't normally leave reviews in life, admittedly I am good-hearted and have good intentions but my follow through is less than desirable at times...but I would be remiss if I didn't put this into the universe. I think how many times I have regretted not having an attorney, or selecting the wrong one. I am not paid or influenced to say this, and would have no problem explaining my case and results to anyone ...and I also have permission from the friends and family I have referred to Mr. Hornsby to do the same. But trust this is an accurate review. I have full confidence based on my personal results, and results from my referrals that what I am saying is hardly sufficient to accurately review Mr. Hornsby. If you retain his services, you will be like me. Finding yourself singing the praises of the Best Attorney in Orlando. And no it doesn't taste like vinegar or feel like eating glass. Those feelings are reserved for the less than adequate or sub-par attorneys.

Just read his responses to the bad reviews and judge for yourself. I see he hasn't gotten any better in 20 years. Unsurprisingly, he gave incorrect info on this avvo site. Mr. Richard Hornsby is one of the greatest, Attorneys He is his father's son. No doubt . I found him excellent. I used his father early on in the day when he was still with us. And now I used His son Being Richard Hornsby. I read some of these reviews which I thought were very cruel.I think people ...need to learn the difference between a straight Out forward black & white hard working attorney instead of putting him down as some of these reviews, I saw and I believe the reviews were the same exact person just by the writings on the wall .Mr. Hornsby is very black & white straight forward very quick with his words Boom! He don't want to hear Nothing but the facts. Okay, I get it. Hey, I drove him crazy too. But I gotta say something this man works. that's the kind of attorney you want straight out black & white. No bsing. Hes a hard worker and he does have time for everybody. It's just that he's fast and he's quick at the tongue. But that's a good thing, because when you get a attorney like that. And let me tell you something i worked for a lot of attorneys in the past in my younger days and and I used Mr. Hornsby's father in the 70s late 70s I think don't hold me to it. And I could tell you this. He is definitely his father's son and if I could give him 10 stars on here, I would so so please don't put somebody down unless you understand why that person is the way they are. And also the few reviews I read on here. That I said I believed was the same person. You sounded like you might have been a bit confused through your review and your case I read Mr Hornsbys rebuttal back to you and I thought it was excellent. And it also thought it was very mannered. And it also thought it was very professional not nasty just straight out and to the point! So I'm just gonna say this. I hired him again today. Like I said earlier and I would hire him again and again and I'll keep referring him. Not that he needs it because everybody wants the !Richard Hornsby just as they wanted his father! . And my answer was crystal.Clear and clean and the truth.I said I used his father.He was a magnificent man and I liked the way he carried himself like father like son. There is no way these 5 star reviews are legitimate. This lawyer is a complete jerk and I had the most stressful experience allowing this man to handle my case. I won’t get long winded but the review before mine (May 19) hits the nail on the head. Do not hire this man if you want a lawyer that has an...y kind of empathy for your situation or any desire to fight for you and treat you with respect when talking to you about your case. He doesn’t have the time for it and he’ll indirectly let you know that through his tone and attitude. Very unprofessional and I cannot imagine anyone feeling at ease after spending money to hire him.
