Kirk Emerson Gilliard

Mr. Gilliard represented a close relative of mine. I obseved his strategies on how his handled the case and his insightfulness toward my relative. I was on probation for a DUI in Columbia County when I screwed up and got another one in Atlanta, where I live. My Columbia Cty attorney didn't feel comfortable taking my Violation of Probation case since I basically broke my promise to never get in trouble again, but he referred me to Mr. Gilliard, ...whom I hired. My life was spiraling out of control at that point, but Mr. Gilliard was so patient with me and helped me stay the course. He got me out of the probation violation charge, went to court for me a couple times to keep me from having to drive 3 hours out to Appling, and even negotiated better terms that allowed me to pay it off faster. Towards the end of probation, he notified me of an evaluation that still needed to be done that I had completely forgotten about and that would've landed me back in court had he not reminded me. I've been pretty awful about returning his phone calls and emails and he's had to get on me a couple times about that (in a nice way, always), but even though I definitely haven't been the ideal client, Mr. Gilliard has been by far the best attorney I could have asked for. I hope I never end up in trouble again, but if I do and it's in Columbia Cty, I won't hesitate to hire him again. He's simply the best.

When I first met Kirk, I was an emotional mess, having recently found myself in a position I never would've imagined due to a mistake my (juvenile) son made. Initially I did not plan to seek legal representation, but then changed my mind merely hours before a disciplinary action hearing - and I am so... glad I did. Kirk not only made time for us, but he was very thorough in his explanation of what we could expect and remained communicative throughout the entire ordeal. Kirk spared me a lot of stress trying to understand/navigate the legal system and ultimately helped us to get our case dismissed. Kirk has represented my family for years. This time it was our turn. We needed a lawyer for an adoption of a relatives newborn baby. Our case was time sensitive and had special circumstances that Kirk really took to heart. We knew 5 days before the baby was born that we would be able to adopt him. Th...e next afternoon we reached out to Kirk, who even stayed after hours to meet us despite short notice. He got every bit of information he needed that afternoon to present the paperwork after the baby was born so that we could take the baby home from the hospital and have custody until the adoption was final . After he got out of court, Kirk came to the hospital with the documents for her to sign. He consistently followed up, occasionally requesting additional information so that when we went to court they had everything they needed. Kirk helped us the entire way , even registering us for the criminal background check and fingerprinting. He really made our adoption case feel like it was his top priority. When it came to scheduling our court date, he postponed his family vacation so we could have our day in court as soon as we could. The day before the baby turned 3 months old we had our day in court and the adoption became final! It went so smoothly and lasted no more than 5 minutes. Afterwards we were able to take pictures with Kirk and the Judge. Thanks to Kirk, baby Cash is now apart of our happily ever after and our house has never felt more like a home!
