Michael C. Garrett

 In January, 1993 The Augusta Chronicle took a survey of the lawyers in the Augusta Judicial Circuit who handled criminal cases.  They were asked who they would go to if they were facing criminal charges, themselves.  The lawyer they said would be their first choice was Mike Garrett.

Mr. Garrett remains active in the representation of citizens who are being prosecuted or are under investigation for alleged criminal wrong doing.  In fact, his practice is limited to the practice areas of white collar criminal defense and general criminal defense.

Mike brings impressive credentials as he celebrates his 18th year inclusion in the 20th Edition of Best Lawyers in America for the practice areas of White Collar Criminal Defense as well as general non-White Collar Criminal Defense.  Mr. Garrett for 27 years has also been recognized in the prestigious lawyers digest, Martindale-Hubbell, as an AV Preeminent Lawyer, the highest possible rating given for both legal ability and ethical standards.  For 26 years he has been selected as well for inclusion on the list of Georgia Super Lawyers, a list published yearly in the Atlanta Magazine and an honor reserved for those who exhibit excellence in their legal practice.  Mike continues to limit his practice to the defense of criminal cases in Federal and State Court, criminal investigations and other special matters.  He maintains his law office at the Wells Fargo Bank Building, 699 Broad Street, Suite 1010, Augusta, Georgia.

Mr. Garrett founded his law practice 1973. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law where he served as the Articles of Editor of the Georgia Law Review. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with Honors in Psychology.

He is a proud member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) of which he is a former President. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a proud member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and has served on its White Collar Crime Committee, Ethics Committee and Capital Defense Committee. Mr. Garrett is a frequent lecturer on topics in criminal law at various legal organizations, seminars and judicial conferences.
