Kirk Angel is an excellent and highly professional attorney. He is quick to respond to inquiries, he effectively integrates the details of a client’s case with the elements of applicable statutes and case law, and he is very good at identifying the strategy that will best meet the client’s needs. Kirk’s knowledge of the employment law (to include the ADA and the FMLA) is extensive, and he brings a level of expertise that has been honed by his years of experience in working with the EEOC. Hence, Kirk is adept at locating the key issues among the many details that will be involved in a client’s case and subsequently mapping out a set of steps for immediately addressing his client’s needs. I trust Kirk (he is always there when needed), and I believe in his skills and character. He provided me with invaluable assistance that made it possible for me to address longstanding and very serious issues in my workplace. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who faces issues related to employment law, and in particular, issues related to discrimination and retaliation in the context of the ADA and the FMLA. In sum, he is efficient, effective, focused, results oriented, and very competent! When it comes to employment law, he is unparalleled!

This man made me feel lower than I already did... I was a victim of race discrimination and in Kirk Angel's eyes it wasn't worth his time... Don't waste your money on his opinion...

Kirk J. Angel’s response: “It is tough to respond to an anonymous comment on a public forum, but especially so for an attorney as, even if we know who the poster is, we are not allowed to disclose any information about their situation due to ethics rules. I do not know who this person is and all I can say is I give everyone the benefit of my full attention during the consultation. If a client pays me for a consultation, my goal is to be honest with the client and that includes an honest assessment of the client's claim. Unfortunately, North Carolina's law is stacked against employees. I have unpleasant job of telling people when their claim has little likelihood of success or when the case has low value because of the limited "damages" allowed by law. The vast majority of the people I consult with realize that and appreciate the honesty. Many lawyers consult with clients and then pass the buck by saying things like "You have a great case, but I am just too busy." That is not helpful for anyone really. Some people, however, blame me for the bad news when I am honest with them. During the consultation, I also have to explain that the process is long and time consuming. For a race case in North Carolina, an employee must file with the EEOC first, which can take months or more than a year, then proceed to federal court which can take two or more years. It is a long, drawn out process that is expensive for the client and easily takes 150 or more attorney hours. There are many times that federal court throws out these cases because an employee is missing certain types of evidence so that the employee never gets his/her day in court after years of pursuing it. I certainly hope that the poster filed an EEOC race discrimination charge within 180 days of the date of the discrimination which I would have explained during the consultation. However, if the poster had already filed, and saw me, then she would have received either a "cause determination" or a Notice of Right to Sue. A cause determination means that the EEOC found enough evidence to support the claim. A Notice of Right to Sue, on the other hand, clearly states that the EEOC was not able to find sufficient evidence to support the claim. I would like to know which one this poster received. I can only assume from this post that another attorney has told her that she has a good case and that I was wrong. There are many questions I would ask if I could. What was different about the other attorney's opinion? Did the attorney dispute what I had advised? Did the attorney take her case? Is the EEOC finished? Was a lawsuit filed? What is happening with the case? Did it go to a jury trial? No matter what, I certainly do not want to make anyone feel "low" or bad about herself. However, I feel I need to be honest and give every person my true legal opinion. Sometimes that opinion is not what the person wants to hear.”

From the first phone call to the office and in speaking to his staff, I was made to feel very comfortable and relax . They listened to me and allowed me to speak without feeling rushed. The objective for the lawyer is to provide you with advice on what your realistic options are... Attorney Angel provided honest, upfront information. He explained the truth in such a way that it could be easily understood. He is well versed in his area of law.

I was impressed that Mr. Angel consulted with me on the weekend by e-mail because we didn't have a lot of time and because I have trouble hearing on the phone. He always responded to my questions quickly from my first inquiry asking if he thought I had a good case.

I also like the fact that he has different levels of charges from a consultation through representation instead of just one fee.

Though I would have won my case without help from an attorney, it made me feel more informed and confident to have my questions answered, and I was able to feel more comfortable during the hearing knowing what to expect. I would recommend contacting this attorney to anyone who is feeling nervous or fearful about their upcoming hearing.

I hired Mr. Angel's frim to represent me in a wrongful termination suit for, what I feel was, being wrongfully terminated. Mr. Angel explained the applicable laws and educated me about the entire process. I was suprised with his knowledge of so much of the aspects of my case. Him and his staff came in on weekends to meet with me to accommodate my schedule.

Mr. Angel and his paralegals always kept me informaed of what was going on with the case which took over a year to complete but ultimately ended up with a settlement. I am very pleased with Mr. Angel and his entire office staff and would highly recommend them to anyone needing an attorney.

After consulting with several attorneys in my local area with statements like " I don't take cases I don't think I can win" I found Angel Law Firm. They took the time to listen to my entire case and represented me in my Unemployment Hearing. I won the case without question or defense from former employee. Thank you!!

My daughter was twice denied NCESC benefits through phone hearings. Thanks to you and your staff she went through both with calm assurance. Through your tenacity and legal skill, the NCESC sided with my daughter, overturned the decision and awarded her the unemployment benefits she was due. Had she not contacted you, she would have become another statistic of denied benefits.

Although she received several solicitations for legal assistance, she chose The Angel Law Firm because of you. and your staff. Your calm reassuring demeanor and personal attention far outweighed any other firm she contacted. From my perspective there are larger firms that perform these duties but none of them provide the personal touch to the client, which is the cornerstone of your firm’s philosophy.

I would have written this letter whether she won her appeal or not. Throughout this entire process you maintained a firm stance that her employer was wrong. In the face of overwhelming odds you went forward because of your character and integrity. Neither of these traits can be bought or acquired; one either has them or not.

In the future I will certainly refer others to you and the Angel Law Firm. Again thank you for all your hard work and know that it is genuinely appreciated.

Kirk Angel was a godsend to me at a terrible time in my life. I had been fired from my job and had to have a hearing with the Employment Security Commission to get my unemployment benefits. I was scared to death and Kirk settled me down, told me what I needed to do and went to the hearing with me, which we won! He was very knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend him highly to anyone.
