Great attorney
Had him for a serious misdemeanor that I was accused of. He told me the exact thing he wanted to do and that's exactly what he did. Short and to the point and he was amazing. Never stepped in the courthouse.

Best for college students
My son made more than a few bad decisions in his first year of college, and we were worried his future might be ruined. A local attorney (here in Charlotte) referred us to Mr. Davenport, and he gave my son the best advice and patient support he could while staying realistic about all possible outcome...
"Matt's legal knowledge is vast and he knows how to pierce to the heart of the issue of the case. He also is a great guy who genuinely cares about his clients' lives. He is one of the great minds in NC DWI defense and I recommend him highly."
"Matt Davenport is a first rate lawyer. A great combination of legal ability and street smarts. Gets great results for his clients."
"I would highly recommend this attorney for anyone who has been charged with Driving While Impaired in the Pitt County area."
"Matt Davenport excels in the practice of criminal law. He is highly respected throughout the state and beyond. An excellent advocate who works hard for every client."
"I have had the pleasure of teaching with Mr. Davenport many continuing education classes to DWI attorneys around the State. I continue to learn from Matt each time we teach together. Matt is not only a great attorney, but a great litigator and teacher. I look forward to our next seminar together."
"Matt is one of the best DWI lawyers in the state. I'm lucky to have had the chance to take a few classes he has taught and to be able to take advantage of his knowledge. Whether he helps you negotiate a plea or you decide to take your case to trial, you can know you have one of the best with Matt as your attorney."

Court of Appeals reversed, ruling that a driver who crosses painted lines at an intersection has violated a "traffic control device" and this constitutes reasonable suspicion to justify a stop.
Statute upheld by N.C. Court of Appeals as constitutional, but with explanation that finder of fact (judge or jury) can depart from the state's test restuls. U.S. Supreme Court denied cert.
