When expert lawyers are essential

Once divorced, most individuals move on, but I was unfortunate to have an “ex” intent on causing trouble. No matter how stressful and costly, I needed an expert lawyer and legal team to protect my interests. With an “ex” like mine, it was imperative to immediately address his breach of contract and ...non-compliance with other matters. Once more, I contacted Irons & Irons for their outstanding legal services. Gib Irons recommended a new and exceptional member of their team, Robert Zaslow, an attorney with thirty years of family law experience. Mr. Zaslow quickly learned about my case and took the first step. He informed my “ex” that he had signed a contract that he was not free to alter. Failure to comply with contractual obligations would lead to litigation. The easiest and least costly option was to comply (in my case, pay alimony on time and in total). After my “ex” ignored Mr. Zaslow’s correspondence, we had to take the next step. Several Court filings persuaded my “ex” to pay what he owed me, but he refused to cover the legal fees I had incurred. Per our contract, if one party breaches an agreement, the other party can ask for legal fees. Another matter involved a No Contact clause in our Equitable Distribution Agreement, which prohibits my “ex” from contacting me and vice versa, a clause my “ex” had ignored. We had no choice but to go to Court. When I arrived at the Courthouse, Mr. Zaslow took precautions to protect me. As we entered the courtroom, he informed the bailiff I had an NC No Contact provision and a Protective Order from another state. While the judge and attorneys present discussed the day’s docket, my “ex” took advantage and approached me. His voice alerted Mr. Zaslow, who spun around and instructed my “ex” to walk away. The bailiff rushed over immediately and ordered my “ex” to step away, an order he had to repeat twice before my “ex” complied. When the Judge was ready to hear our case, Mr. Zaslow delivered every critical point to recover legal fees and highlight my “ex’s” multiple violations of NC’s No Contact clause. He was masterful in clearly setting up the case and methodically offering evidence to corroborate his points. Mr. Zaslow knows how to deliver a compelling narrative that captures a judge’s attention and brilliantly grounds the argument presented in the law. The judge ruled in our favor. Additionally, since I face continuing litigation in another state, Mr. Zaslow went the extra mile to secure copies of the hearing’s recording. He shared this valuable material with me, my lawyer in the state where I reside, and the State Attorney’s prosecutor handling a separate criminal complaint. During these many hearings, I’ve relied on my lawyers, a highly skillful mediator, fair judges, court personnel, and police officers. Certainly, Irons & Irons is at the top of my list of invaluable professionals. Thank you, Gib Irons, Robert Zaslow, and the best paralegal in the world, Kaitlyn Gonzalez. Your superb support since early March 2022 (when I first called) has contributed to my new life, a happy one if it weren’t for my “ex’s” behavior. That, too, shall pass, and in the meantime, I am exceedingly grateful knowing you have my back.

Wish I could give 6 stars!

Gib has assembled a phenomenal team of lawyers and support staff at Irons & Irons. They are compassionate, knowledgeable and fearless when handling serious injury cases against big insurance companies. Gib and Harry show total dedication to their clients, and their results speak for themselves. I ...literally can't think of what you could get any better, anywhere else. If I could give them 6 stars, I would. Highly Recommend!

Quality

NC separation and divorce laws are rather old fashioned and kooky, so, in general, having a lawyer is a good idea. Lawyers, however, are not all the same, and you want to ensure that you’re in good hands. Irons & Irons assisted me with all of my off-beat questions and concerns. They explained everyth...ing thoroughly and with compassion. When negotiating a settlement with the ex’s lawyer, they had my best interest in mind. And, thanks to them, the agreed-upon settlement was far better than if the assets were divided in a court. They’re extremely knowledgeable and stayed on top of everything. I greatly appreciate all of their help, and I highly recommend their services.

"Gib is an excellent attorney. Gib's success is a product of his integrity, work ethic, attention to detail, and dedication to serving each client's individualized needs. Whether he is at trial or in settlement negotiations Gib's ability to think steps ahead of the opposing party, while remaining focused on the task at hand, is extremely impressive. While Gib's advocacy skills and experience make him a excellent attorney, it is his moral compass that makes him an excellent mentor and friend."

"I have known Gib for most of my life. He is not only a fantastic attorney, but is truly a wonderful person. He is honest and caring and treats both clients and adversaries with utmost respect. He has an excellent command of the law and will advocate zealously on behalf of his clients but always with their best interest in mind. Whenever anyone asks me to recommend an attorney in the Pitt County area for a family law matter, I always send them to Gib. I know they are in great hands and trust Gib to take great care of them. I give him my highest recommendation."

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I enthusiastically endorse this lawyer. I recently had the pleasure of working with Gib Irons as opposing counsel on what had the potential to be a very contentious, child custody action in Pitt County. Our clients could not have been more opposed; however, I believe Gib's very practical, common sense approach, grounded by sound judgment and incredible proficiency in the law, was pivotal in bringing what could have been a very ugly custody fight to an efficient and fairly amicable resolution. Having practiced law for more than 16 years, I am certain that the disposition of the attorney handling the case has everything to do with the success of the outcome, as well as the out-of-pocket expenses for clients. We could have certainly litigated our clients' positions in court for days but in the end were able to reach a win-win result for both clients without imposing upon them undue emotional and financial burdens. Working with Gib was an absolute breath of fresh air!"

"My law office partner, Ben G. Irons, III (hereinafter referenced as “Gib”), and I opened our law firm on August 15, 2007. Gib was licensed in March 2006, and he worked with another local law firm until we began work together. He has gained considerable experience in the practice of Family Law, and in my view, he is among the best in this field in our area. He writes well and he tries cases methodically and with great attention to detail. He is tenacious in trial and in other adversarial situations without being offensive. Most of his Clients trust him implicitly as do I. He pursues excellence in all his legal work and I endorse him without hesitation."

"Over the years, I have tried numerous family law cases with Gib. Although he zealously litigates a case in court when it is necessary, he also focuses on what is best for his client, which in some cases means settling on favorable terms. Professionally, he maintains good working relationships with colleagues, which ultimately benefits his clients with positive results. It is a pleasure to try cases with him because I can expect returned calls and meaningful negotiations because he is prepared and ready to work, a trait that is unfortunately becoming unique in the profession."
