This is my fifth experience with a family law attorney (Paul was the 2nd North Carolina attorney). I have never seen an attorney work so hard, so efficiently, be so invariably responsive, and handle every situation so adeptly. Most family law issues do not keep regular business hours. Paul was always responsive over the weekends and often late at night when an issue arose. His advice and guidance, I believe, helped shape my case into a much stronger one. He always gave me an honest answer, even when it was something I didn't exactly want to hear, but it helped me know I could trust him. Don't be fooled by the "boy next door" appearance. His instincts are amazingly insightful and strong. In the courtroom, he's definitely the steely, sharp advocate you want on your side. He handled our case as if he was fighting for his very own family. He took a personal interest in what was going on, and stayed that involved for the 18-month duration of the case. And we won! I have usually not had great things to say about attorneys, feeling like they only logged their hours to get their fees. My former attorneys did not communicate well with me, and I believe lost my case due to their inattentiveness and lack of concern. Not so with this attorney. When we had an emergency situation, Paul dropped everything that day and worked like lightning to get an ex parte motion filed that very day. He treated us like we were his most important clients always. If you're in need of someone who will do the stressing out for you, and defend your cause as if his own livelihood depended on it, this is your man. You can absolutely trust him.

Paul was the second lawyer I worked with for my divorce. I am thankful that I made the change to Paul. He isn't as experienced as some of the other lawyers I considered, but my first lawyer was totally unresponsive and my wife's lawyer who was VERY experienced, seemed to be burnt out. I was thankful that I had Paul and my wife had her experienced attorney. I suspect that handling divorce cases gets old after a few decades. Paul is still enthusiastic. He is also on the ball, especially compared to what I saw on the other side. I can't think of a single instance where something Paul had done, or failed to do, ran up my bill. Nor can I think of a single misstep Paul made along the way. I can't say the same for my wife's lawyer. Either Paul or his staff always responded to questions within 24 hours, if not close to immediately. When we arrived at our mediation, Paul had milk crates filled with binders holding everything we had been asked to provide. My wife's lawyer had a small folder and the mediator had to come to us to get copies of the stuff he wanted. I cannot but think that this differing level of preparedness helped me. I could see the mediator growing increasingly annoyed. I also received detailed monthly billing statements and knew exactly where I stood. I had no--zero--complaints. I feel extremely fortunate that I found Paul. Actually, I found him on this site or one like it.

Relationship: Worked together on matter
Paul is an exceptional lawyer who is responsive, sharp, direct and compassionate. We worked together on a procedurally complex inter-county matter and I, as a young lawyer, learned a great deal from him. I highly recommend him.
