Experience Matters

My family and I own a number of businesses in multiple states and have retained many attorneys over the years. Steven Kreiger is by far the best we have hired. Besides his extensive knowledge of the law, his experience sets him above all the rest. We are grateful for his integrity and dedication.

Con artist

Dealing with this law firm has been more difficult than dealing with the divorce itself. I'm very surprised at the number of 4-5 star reviews on here, because I have had quite the opposite experience. If you plan on using Mr. Krieger as your attorney, please prepare to deal with the following: 1. Un...justified billing practices - The hourly rate outlined in the contract is fair; however, the time spent either communicating or drafting documentation is not justified. Upon reviewing my invoices, I noted an inconsistency in the time spent preparing documents. When I inquired the rationale for charges, a response was not provided. In addition, I was billed for Mr. Kriegers time spent on the phone summarizing my case/info and re-iterating information that was already covered in previous phone calls. Mr.Krieger rarely recalled the specifics of my case and spent a majority of the time asking me redundant questions. 2. Sloppy documentation (clearly based on a pre-written template) - Every document that I have received thus far has had typographical errors in it. I never thought I would have to perform a detail review of official documentation from my attorney, but clearly there's a lack of quality control. There were several instances where other people's names and addresses were listed in my documents. Considering the fact that they are handling people's personally identifiable information on a daily basis, there is a concern from a security perspective. 3. Unresponsive or delayed communications - The divorce process itself is lengthy due to required separation period and the court review, but I have spent months trying to get updates on my case for what is a clear cut, non-contested divorce. In March, I was assured by Mr.Krieger himself that my case was straightforward and would be finalized within 3-4 months. It is now November , and I am still waiting to hear if they have even filed the paperwork. The irony of this situation, is that they will send you an invoice communication, but won't take the time to respond to your emails. This whole process has been so unnecessarily painful, that at one point, I seriously considered getting a different attorney and even explored the options of finalizing the divorce myself. I am literally physically and emotionally exhausted from having to micromanage these seemingly incompetent people. If you have a straightforward divorce case, I would advise seeking counsel elsewhere, because this law firm will just be a waste of your time, money, and sanity. Depending on how long I have to endure this, I am seriously contemplating on filing a complaint with the Virginia State Bar.

To Any Prospective Client: Honestly, I don't know who left this review and since it's left by an "anonymous" person, I have no way to reach out to them. Based on the hundreds of positive reviews my firm has received, there must have been something unusual with this particular person (assuming they are actually a client) or their case. But, this serves as a good reminder to everyone: uncontested divorces are only straightforward and quick if BOTH sides cooperate. If either side doesn't want to proceed or will not sign the necessary documents, the case will not be straightforward and will need to be litigated, to some extent, in court, which takes more time, more energy, and more resources. Great Assistance on Landlord/Tenant Dispute

I had a tenant that moved out before the end of his lease and refused to meet the contract obligations. Steven helped me understand our options and communication strategy. Extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Ultimately, we were able to recover what was owed. Definitely recommend him.

Excellent, honest, diligent, and timely

I had an excellent experience in a co tenant issue. He was able to write an absolutely excellent settlement letter and provided great advice on how to move forward to have a far better living situation. He was honest about the realities of my pursuits, kept my vindictive nature in check, and made c...oncise and clear efforts for my goals. He writes very well and is able to communicate through email in ways that proved to be very convenient.

Really helpful landlord-tenant consultation

I was having multiple problems with my new apartment. I had some knowledge of DC landlord-tenant law, and figured I could handle it largely on my own, if push came to shove. But I had questions and just wanted to be sure I was going about things in exactly the right way. Steven was prompt to respond ...when I reached out via his website. We had a brief, reasonably-priced, no-strings consultation, and his advice about the process and how to communicate with my landlord was spot-on and helped me quickly reach an amicable agreement. If any other renters ask me for advice (I'm a lawyer in another specialty, but I still field all sorts of questions), I'll encourage them to reach out to Steven.
