The BEST Military Divorce Attorney Around!!!

The best decision I ever made! Jim Livesay is the BEST military divorce attorney in the area. His knowledge and expertise on crucial issues in a military divorce surpasses all others. His foresight in preparing my divorce documents protected me when DFAS requested a Clarifying Order from the courts regarding my portion of the military retirement in which I was awarded in my Divorce Decree. Unaware that my ex-husband could claim disability once he retires and this would lower the amount I would receive from the retirement pay, he included language that guards against such action occurring. My former spouse and I are friends and he informed me the other day he will be filing for Disability soon and wanted me to be aware of it. I will take my documentation back to Jim Livesay to make sure DFAS is handling my portion of retired pay according to my Divorce Decree. I appreciate Jim protecting my interests and this allows me to continue receiving the same portion even after my former spouse files disability. I began my proceedings with a military attorney. I'm grateful I took those documents to Mr. Livesay prior to filing for my divorce. Without his expertise, the outcome of my divorce settlement would have been disastrous. His knowledge and expertise came HIGHLY recommended by his colleagues and now his client. Whether you are the former spouse or military member...call Jim Livesay first. You want him on your side!!! James Livesay is a founding partner at Livesay & Myers, P.C. He leads the firm’s team of family law attorneys across offices in Fairfax, Arlington, Leesburg, Manassas and Fredericksburg, Virginia.

After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1995 and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998, Mr. Livesay served three years in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps. He entered civilian practice as a family law attorney in 2001, and joined with partner Kevin Myers to found Livesay & Myers, P.C. in 2003.

Drawing on his experience as a Navy JAG officer, Mr. Livesay established the military divorce section of the firm in 2003 and has guided it since that time. His article, “Treatment of Disability Pay in Military Divorce,” has been published on a number of online divorce websites, including Divorce Headquarters and .

Mr. Livesay has been named a Super Lawyer every year since 2014. He was also named to Northern Virginia Magazine’s Top Lawyers listing for 2018. Mr. Livesay currently holds a perfect 10.0 rating from both Avvo and Justia.

Quiet frankly, the only attorney I'll ever contact in a time of need!!! Considering the fact that an attorney's advice is usually due to an unavoidable and unpleasant experience..... Kindness in a hard time.

I grew up with the childish belief that marriage was permanent. Until I was faced with the cold reality, my own divorce. Mr. Livesay and his team treated me like a brother during this time. They listened to me, they were sympathetic to the pain I was going through. The divorce wasn't an easy one but they helped me and I am grateful.

Excellent Attorney
