I was renting a property that was not built to code and was rent controlled and the greedy unscrupulous landlord kept raising the rent to harass all the tenants, forcing them out. .The living conditions were horrible the maintenance company really did very little of the maintenance. The roof leaked..., I had mice, serious fire code and safety issues, , and multiple other maintenance problems, the wiring in the house was in adequate and not to code, a friend was helping me move and was charging her cell phone, went to unplug it, and the outlet sparked so hard it melted the prongs of the cell phone charger! The DC government inspectors turned a blind eye to the fact that it was not built to code, because the landlord had made cosmetic changes! Marc was able to get me a good settlement which enabled me to comfortably move out. Marc's knowledge of DC laws proved that the property was rent controlled and that the landlord did not even have a building permit! I could not have won my case without Marc.
