Illegal stop and search
I cannot express how comfortable Mark made my son and I feel after initially speaking with him. We had searched and interviewed several attorneys regarding my son’s unique situation. All the attorneys we interviewed said we didn’t have a strong appeal case and should be thankful my son only received 3.5 year sentence. We knew the case the Queens DA built against my son was based on lies and deception but no one would listen to us, until we finally contacted Mark Bederow. Mark not only listened but believed us and immediately pointed out everything wrong with the prosecution’s case. He gave us hope and validated our concerns. We didn’t hesitate to hire him. Mark is fully dedicated, extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the law and its process. Mark kept us informed of developments and explained in detail what was happening in the case, what to expect and his strategy. He will leave no leaf upturned and will make sure you understand the process. I am forever grateful for his commitment and his passion for the truth and justice.

Amazing - recommend without hesitation
First: Thank You Mark for all of your help! I recommend Mark without hesitation. Mark really understands criminal law, the system, and his clients' needs. Mark was attentive, thorough and really went above and beyond to solve my problem. I was extremely stressed out by my situation, compounded by the fact that I have never had anything similar happen and had no idea how to approach solving it. In short, my husband is a martial artist of several decades, which also plays a part in his career. Somehow, one of his tools ended up in my suitcase... which as you can imagine... was discovered during travel! It was a horrible experience - especially considering I was travelling to a very high-level corporate meeting! I had no idea how, when, who placed it there (could have been multiple friends or family at any number of locations)! Mark was very patient, walked me through the process, told me clearly what documentation and evidence was needed and absolutely solved my nightmare in less than 4 months! The impact of this would have had a devastating toll on my career. Thank you again, Mark!

Life saver
My name is Oleg, and recently Mark Bederow have my case dismissed in one of the worst districts in New York city. Needless to say, that Mark handled the case professional and agressive manner. Prosecution thought that they had a slam dunk case, until Mark made his own investigation. I was very satisfied with Mark performance. No false alarms, or phony promises. Straight to the point. Mark is your guy if you in the jam. If you not guilty, you will stay not guilty.

Exceeded expectations on two matters!
I faced bogus criminal assault and harassment charges in Queens where the victim rightfully recanted. I contacted Mark from a referral while I was detained and he jumped into gear immediately and worked around the clock to get me released. Despite the recanted statement, the DAs office was still coming after me full force because of the unique facts involved (i.e. it was a domestic dispute). The DA pushed through several adjournments with an offer that would have left me with a criminal record. Mark held our position and went above and beyond to get the DA to ultimately dismiss my case. Mark handles major press cases and is a full-service attorney that is not only an expert in the courtroom, but also knows how to be an effective advocate outside of the courtroom. I have referred Mark to friends and colleagues and would recommend him to anyone facing even the most serious, complex charges.

Fully dedicated.
After interviewing me, Mark took up my case with the intention of having it dismissed. It is the news I received today after months of court appearances: dismissed. I can not agree more with what I have read before hiring Mark about the need to have an experienced lawyer at your sides. Mark is fully dedicated, extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the law and its process that without his help, I would have been lost. Throughout this difficult time Mark kept me informed of developments. I am ever so grateful for his commitment and resulting outcome.

Mark is amazing
Mark at a moment's notice swooped in and saved our family from a well intended but frivolous charge by the NYPD. He was tenacious, spirited, balanced. Superb. A great guy and an even better lawyer. He has become a family friend - and we will be grateful to him for the rest of our lives for what he did.

Criminal Lawyer
I was charged with a DWI. My case was a little different I have a kidney problem which made my story a little hard to believe. They got me with nyquil in my system and It was my second DWI on record. I turned to different lawyers and of course they would take the case. They would tell me that there was no way any judge would let me off the hook. Imagine I was desperate and scared. I kept on searching in the internet. Thank god I crossed Mark's web site. I left him a voice message and that same afternoon he returned my phone call. He was shocked with my story but he some how believed in me and my story. Mark made it happened he spoke to my doctors, witnesses, and his resources. I am happy to say that my case was dismissed thanks to Mark's great experience and professionalism. Thank you Mark

Saved me from losing my NYPD career and sitting in jail!
There are not enough words to express my gratitude and appreciation for this man and his continuous support and hard work to take care of my case. I was indicted by the prosecutor's office in a sealed grand jury which resulted in a true bill. I was facing numerous felony and misdemeanor charges that if convicted of would have sent me to jail and ended my career as a NYPD detectivee. Mark used his expertise and hard work to get my case completely dismissed before it made it to hearings or trial. He is just amazing and willing to work with and for you. He is incredibly patient with an affordable payment plan! I cant say it enough but thank you Mark for everything! God Bless.

Good to have on your side
Mark was recommended by a third party and was a complete unknown. He was very responsive and very knowledgeable while giving me good advice and protecting my interests. Mark did not string me along....when it came time to hand me off to my insurance company representative ( lawyer) he did so without hesitation but made certain that he was available for any future contact. I would not hesitate to contact Mark again nor would I hesitate to recommend him to others.

Keeping it real!!!
Mark Bederow represented me in an overcharged case that never should have been. He was clear and concise in his explanations. He was always reachable and returned every phone call and email. He walked me through the entire process and was an exemplary attorney. At the end he was able to get all the criminal charges dismissed. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a criminal attorney who works hard. I hope to never have to use his services again but absolutely would if I had to.

Peer Review
My name is Kevin. I am the Chair of the Criminal Defense Practice Group at Levene, Gouldin & Thompson, LLP -- a 60 attorney firm with several offices located throughout upstate New York. Mark and I met during our very first day of law school at Syracuse University almost 20 years ago and we've been good friends ever since. We didn't have a lot of free time back then but when we did, Mark was the only guy who liked watching Law & Order more than me. I mean, contracts, property, torts and the rest of the curriculum was fine, but for us it was the study of criminal defense that kept law school interesting. In fact, by the the end of our third year Mark and I had completed virtually all of the same advanced trial practice and advanced criminal procedure classes-- a series of elective courses that you could take after the first year and which most of our peers had very little to no interest in. Mark was at the top of the class and he's as sharp now as he was then. In fact, whenever I have a client from upstate who needs help down in the NYC area, Mark is my go to guy. If you're in a jam hire Mark Bederow. You won't be disappointed.

The Right to Speedy Trial
In 2012, the first time in my life, I had to seek legal representation. I was arrested at a checkpoint in Manhattan. The experience is something I will never forget or wish on anyone. I felt a lot of inaccuracies were made during checkpoint that lead to my arrest. I requisite a lawyer that had DA experience in Manhattan and could provide clear-cut answers to my case; that is when I found Mark. I called and left a message and quickly received a call back from Mark; we spoke briefly of my situation and that same afternoon I was sitting in his office discussing my case. Mark is sincere, honest, straight-forward and above all knowledgeable. Instantly, I could see he loved the law, but also respected. After we shock hands and by the time I reached the elevators - I knew he was the right person to represent me. A case that should have not taken long to try took over 2 years and more than 10 court room appearances. During every step of the process Mark was beyond responsive, communicated truthfully, and never tried to deter me from perusing what I believe to be just. Mark is the reason; today I have clean criminal record that could have tarnished my professional career. Words can never express the gratitude I have for Mr. Bederow. Therefore, I highly recommend Mark Bederow.

Making my case
In 2008 a person with whom I had a disagreement accused me of a crime. The accusation was baseless with many inconsistencies, but nonetheless I was arrested and locked up in lower Manhattan for 36 hours before appearing before a judge and being released. The next several months became a waking nightmare. With no evidence against me save a written statement containing numerous contradictions, I expected to see the prosecution's star witness discredited at the first hearing and have the case thrown out. Instead I watched an overly zealous assistant district attorney run circles around two separate defense attorneys at multiple hearings. I sat helpless as opportunities to articulate my position were squandered and I was arrested subsequently two more times based on additional accusations by the plaintiff. Completely discouraged I reached out to a trusted family friend who without hesitation suggested I call Mark Bederow. From my first conversation with Mark I had renewed faith that I could beat the case against me. Mark agreed based on evidence before the court that the charges were without merit and he went to work straightaway shutting down the DA’s double talk and bully tactics. At our first appearance I stood next to Mark as he articulated my version of events and for the first time since the ordeal had begun I believed I was being heard. The clarity of Mark’s presentation appeared to resonate with judge and I am certain that things began turning my way at that moment. During our second appearance Mark brought additional clarity, exposing several contradictions by the plaintiff in written and sworn statements. This rattled the prosecution and the judge began to openly question the accuser's version of what happened. During our final appearance, the charges were dismissed and the damaged credibility of the plaintiff put me in a powerful position to negotiate a settlement of our joint interests. Mark did more than win my case. He gave me confidence from the beginning that he would do everything in his power to insure a reasonable outcome. Simply knowing I had a skilled, tireless and professional advocate was enough to reduce the stress I had been battling over the preceding months and enabled me to get refocused on other parts of my life. I have recommended Mark to several people over the years and have heard nothing but praise similar to my own.

Criminal Lawyer
I know and have used quite a few lawyers over the years, unfortunately once for criminal charges. After many consultations I thought I was ok with my choice but then realized I could do better. After speaking and then meeting Mark I knew right away I wished he was my attorney from day one. Not only does he know what to do in and out of the court room but he is also an honest person, meaning you can trust him. I put my life in his hands, not only did I win my case but I have custody of my children, I can't begin to say how much I recommend him. Thank You, Billy

"Facts Can Be A stubborn Thing"
My name is Jonathan and I had the pleasure of having Mark Bederow represent me back in 2010. New York City vs Jonathan Ryan in what was an intense gun case, facing class C violent felon charges, and up to 3 1/2 years behind bars. Attorney Bederow came to my rescue as I was sitting outside the court room awaiting my first preliminary hearing. I was nervously awaiting for my assigned public defender who was running extremely late ,as time ticked Mark Bederow over heard my conversation I was having with my girl friend . He quickly realized that I was in desperate need of help. He approached me ,introduced himself and asked if he may sit down beside us. He went on to ask me what was my story for being there. I told him that I had driven over 18 hours from my small home town in Florida,to move my girl friend back home. I got lost and during the confusion made A right hand turn as the light was red. I did not realize that I had just made a traffic violation. Needless to say what I thought would be just a simple violation turned out to be the begining of fighting for my freedom and all I love. Mark came to my rescue at the very last minute having very little info that I was able to give him before going in front of the judge. As the prosecuter tried to say I was A flight risk, Mark sharply presented to the Judge the facts of why that was not true. That was the start of what would lead up to a trial exactly one year to date of the arrest . Mark spent much time with me either by phone or in person. He quickly became more then just my Attorney but someone I still call a great friend. With Mark beside me I felt comfort ,trust and gained strength from how he delivered a powerful argument and why I was not this Felon that the prosecuter was trying desperatley to convince 12 jury members. He stood and said with passion ,"Facts Can Be A Stubborn Thing "! After the jury members deliberated, they acquitted with in 30 minutes. Mark was brillant from every standpoint! My Attorney ,my Friend, Thank you so much!!!!!!! Sincerley , "Lucky Son Of A Gun" Jonathan R

A confident, accomplished professional
Mark is an excellent, dig-in-your heels defense attorney. He provides 'spot on' assessment of cases, and he uses his broad knowledge of the issues to drive strategy at all times. He also has a very upfront communication style, and will get to the point -- while pulling no punches -- whether he's talking to the client or the adversary. As his client, I watched his management of the courtroom environment, and had nothing but full confidence in him. Mark is also a great guy. I know that no one wants to need a defense attorney, but I would strongly recommend him if you do.

Spot On
I had been charged and over prosecuted for gun possession in New York; regarding a legally possessed handgun that I simply forgot was in the glove compartment of my vehicle on a legitimate work trip from my home state of Florida through New York. The gun had remained in the glove box since I put it there nearly a year prior; this being legal in Florida. I had a clean criminal record and all of the facts of the case supported the fact that this was just an honest mistake, but never the less; the Queens District attorney thought that two years in a state prison was a fair offer, which could have literally ruined my life and everything I had worked for, including a wedding and family that my new fiancé and I were planning. As I began to research similar cases to my own on line in search of any shred of hope, I stumbled upon Mark through a New York Post article outlining an eerily similar case where Mark had represented another individual all the way through trial, ultimately resulting in an acquittal in only thirty minutes. I called Mark that same day and left a message for him, to which he returned my call immediately. He spent over an hour on the phone with me on just our initial conversation asking pointed, careful questions and learning everything he could about my case...and then attaching each one of my answers to an initial strategy for my defense. I knew within the hour that Mark was absolutely the right man for the job. He had, and continued to have through the entire process, a calm confidence that ultimately gave me the courage to fight for what was right and take the terrifying risk of turning down an unfair offer from the DA, and moving forward to testify before the grand jury as the "defendant." It was Mark's work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, responsiveness, and ability to prepare me as a witness that eventually lead to the grand jury dropping all charges against me and allowing me to go on with my life as a free man with a preserved reputation as a valuable member of society. Mark gave me the counsel and courage to, literally, save my own life…his most overwhelming characteristics being his sincere passion for justice, ability to create rapport, and the fact that he genuinely cared about not only me, but my family as well. I have walked out of the most frightening situation with not only my freedom, but a new found peace and a valued friend.

Simple, Direct, & Sharp
I was facing Grand Larceny charges! In addition, I work in Finance. Basically I was looking at a career ending charge... Prior to retaining Mark I met with three other lawyers in Manhattan all in the $8-15k retainer range (some included pre-trial, some didn't). Upon initial review of the four lawyers I met, I liked Mark the least (as a person). The more I thought about my reasons for not liking him, the more I realized he posses all the characteristics of a good lawyer. Mark didn't promise me to move mountains and spin heads, but he was simple, direct, and had a chip on his shoulder (which I ultimately liked). Also, Mark was actually a DA in Manhattan at one time as well... Putting together all the facts, I confided in Mark's ability and relationships (to work the state enough to make them prove their case against me). Mark delivered. I walked away from the case with $12-15k less (retainer, bond, etc), but it was well worth it considering I received no charges or probation. If your considering Mark as your attorney I suggest meeting him and his colleague and going from there.

Wrong Focus (In my opinion)
I came to him for help with a case I was arrested in June of this year. The case slow dragged and I was desperate for representation. Mark came on board and I disclosed the matters of the case where I informed him about some private matters about the arrest, he was informed about a reporter on the case waiting until the case was Dismissed and Sealed First then the plan was to go forward to the media to disclose things. Once Mark “The Media Guy” came on board this case things shifted to the story of reporting thins to the media opposed to getting this criminal case dismissed and quite frankly I was disappointed and confused . We had multiple disagreements with this matter it led to me firing him officially 09/25 and I believe after that he purposely allowed the reporter to still report the case with knowingly false allegations against me to make the story big for his own publicity. The DA already agreed to open an investigation against the cop involved so I really saw no need to continue anything with the Media and just focus on the criminal matter to get this dismissed so I can move on. But you know some lawyers have their own intentions when they see a case they can benefit from publicity wise! Just beware of attorneys that focus more on the publicity rather than the matter at hand. I’m in a nightmare right now
