Amazing - recommend without hesitation

First: Thank You Mark for all of your help! I recommend Mark without hesitation. Mark really understands criminal law, the system, and his clients' needs. Mark was attentive, thorough and really went above and beyond to solve my problem. I was extremely stressed out by my situation, compo...unded by the fact that I have never had anything similar happen and had no idea how to approach solving it. In short, my husband is a martial artist of several decades, which also plays a part in his career. Somehow, one of his tools ended up in my suitcase... which as you can imagine... was discovered during travel! It was a horrible experience - especially considering I was travelling to a very high-level corporate meeting! I had no idea how, when, who placed it there (could have been multiple friends or family at any number of locations)! Mark was very patient, walked me through the process, told me clearly what documentation and evidence was needed and absolutely solved my nightmare in less than 4 months! The impact of this would have had a devastating toll on my career. Thank you again, Mark!

Fully dedicated.

After interviewing me, Mark took up my case with the intention of having it dismissed. It is the news I received today after months of court appearances: dismissed. I can not agree more with what I have read before hiring Mark about the need to have an experienced lawyer at your sides. Mark is full...y dedicated, extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the law and its process that without his help, I would have been lost. Throughout this difficult time Mark kept me informed of developments. I am ever so grateful for his commitment and resulting outcome.

Long on Talk, Short on Action

I found out that I was the target of an investigation by the DA's office and was freaked out. I had retained another attorney but after some time I felt I needed someone who was able to get more information from the DA's office, get my property that had been seized back and handle the matter better. ...I found Mark and was impressed with his proactive attitude on the phone and in person. He talked up his past in the Manhattan DA's office obviously since he spent a good time there and I thought that would be helpful so I retained him. He was willing to work with me initially with the finances - taking what I had and he said I could give him the rest when I got it. Well, almost immediately after I retained him he wanted to know when I would give him the rest. I also noticed that he could be very short on the phone which wasn't good for me since the stress of what I was going through was a lot already. Months went by and he did nothing; there were no meetings with the DA's office other than an email to state he was my new lawyer. Ultimately a year passed and he did nothing. Nothing. He finally wrote me that he felt there was no focus in the DA's office and that things would fizzle out. 3 weeks later I was arrested at 6 AM and arraigned. (I had been indicted by a secret grand jury.) That Mark knew nothing about any of this with his past and felt the matter was going to fizzle out told me he didn't have his pulse on what was going on in the DA's office which is exactly why I retained him. Meanwhile, he wasn't able to be there at my arraignment and because I needed to give him more money he wasn't on my case until weeks and weeks later when I could arrange for a friend to get him some money. Not once during that time did he come see me at Rikers Island where I remained. I was having trouble with the bail and couldn't get out. I was sick and had been moved to the Infirmary and I was terrified. When he finally came to see me his attitude was a completely different one than the one he had 3 weeks prior. In the end, he had a strategy that he wanted to pursue and I was interested but he didn't have any answers to the questions I asked about it.I guess he thought I should blindly follow along. I thought we would collaborate with regards to how to proceed. That was not the case. I didn't see him that often and frankly I was very disappointed with his representation. We finally parted ways and another attorney was able to get me probation. And even more recently, I needed his assistance with getting things back from the DA's office (he still had certain paperwork that wasn't passed on to the next attorney) and he hasn't been responsive. Bottom line: He wasn't the lawyer I thought he would be.

Keeping it real!!!

Mark Bederow represented me in an overcharged case that never should have been. He was clear and concise in his explanations. He was always reachable and returned every phone call and email. He walked me through the entire process and was an exemplary attorney. At the end he was able to get all t...he criminal charges dismissed. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a criminal attorney who works hard. I hope to never have to use his services again but absolutely would if I had to.

Making my case

In 2008 a person with whom I had a disagreement accused me of a crime. The accusation was baseless with many inconsistencies, but nonetheless I was arrested and locked up in lower Manhattan for 36 hours before appearing before a judge and being released. The next several months became a waking ni...ghtmare. With no evidence against me save a written statement containing numerous contradictions, I expected to see the prosecution's star witness discredited at the first hearing and have the case thrown out. Instead I watched an overly zealous assistant district attorney run circles around two separate defense attorneys at multiple hearings. I sat helpless as opportunities to articulate my position were squandered and I was arrested subsequently two more times based on additional accusations by the plaintiff. Completely discouraged I reached out to a trusted family friend who without hesitation suggested I call Mark Bederow. From my first conversation with Mark I had renewed faith that I could beat the case against me. Mark agreed based on evidence before the court that the charges were without merit and he went to work straightaway shutting down the DA’s double talk and bully tactics. At our first appearance I stood next to Mark as he articulated my version of events and for the first time since the ordeal had begun I believed I was being heard. The clarity of Mark’s presentation appeared to resonate with judge and I am certain that things began turning my way at that moment. During our second appearance Mark brought additional clarity, exposing several contradictions by the plaintiff in written and sworn statements. This rattled the prosecution and the judge began to openly question the accuser's version of what happened. During our final appearance, the charges were dismissed and the damaged credibility of the plaintiff put me in a powerful position to negotiate a settlement of our joint interests. Mark did more than win my case. He gave me confidence from the beginning that he would do everything in his power to insure a reasonable outcome. Simply knowing I had a skilled, tireless and professional advocate was enough to reduce the stress I had been battling over the preceding months and enabled me to get refocused on other parts of my life. I have recommended Mark to several people over the years and have heard nothing but praise similar to my own.
