Twenty of my thirty three years as a lawyer have been devoted to employment law litigation, mediation, and arbitration. Employment discrimination is about uncoverning employers' and employees' motives. We study human behavior. This is my passion. I'm always listening for strong facts which might support a plausible theory of discrimination whenever I speak with potential clients on the phone. Facts are key.

V. Jonas Urba - Employment and Labor

Jonas did a great job of getting my Employment Agreement and General Release corrected to benefit my needs. He advised all the requirements that needed to be changed and got me a much better agreement. He got me everything that I needed. I would highly recommend Jonas!

Attentive, honest, and dependable

Jonas helped me through a difficult transition in which I needed to leave a job before my contract ended. He was prompt in his communication and very generous with his input and advice. Excellent service

My experience with Urba Law was phenomenal. From my first encounter with Jonas, I could tell he was passionate about what he did and that he had a vested interest in helping me solve my problem. I met with him via zoom but most other work was done remotely. He was very engaged and explained things to me every step of the way. He was on top of everything and was punctual. He kept constant, open communication throughout the journey. He was very professional and honest. Wanted to give 6 stars!

Had a great experience with Jonas Urba. We’re a business in upstate NY near the Canadian border and had a difficult case with an problematic, crazy employee who was suing us (later we found out that he was a serial suer!) Went first to a local attornery who said we had a losing case and should make a settlement of $15,000. to the employee. We weren’t confident in this attorney starting from a losing position. Looked online and found Jonas in NY state but didn’t realize until we spoke that he was closer to NY city than us. In spite of the distance, Jonas from the outset was bright, informative and reassured us that we had a good case. He spent much time with us on the phone and through emails that we found the long distance not to be a problem at all – we even felt more “taken care of” than 1or 2 appointments in a local lawyers office. Jonas was terrific and in the end he navigated complicated negotiations with the NY State Division of Human Rights and in the end we only had to pay a small settlement which we were very happy with. Since that time we’ve used Jonas for any legal matter and with each case he got us a good result. He has a pleasant friendly character, does excellent work and knows how to deal with all kinds of difficult people and situations on both sides w employees and with employers. Out of a 5 star review, we would give him a 6! Worth every penny spent on his services!

Happy Ending

Mr Urba was very easy to work with. He explained things in English, not legal talk. He kept me updated along the way. Not only did Jonas know the laws etc, he somehow always knew what my employer was going to do....steps before they did them. It was like having a master chess player representing me. Mr. Urba was able to get my desired result. I'm glad its over and even more happy that I chose Mr. Urba to represent me. Thank You !!!!

Saved my job

After a sexual harassment complaint was lodged against me, I retained Jonas to try to save my job. He did. He was thoroughly professional, very forthcoming in guiding me through the investigation process, and stuck to the fees we agreed upon. I highly recommend him.

Highly recommended attorney!

I was personally handling my unemployment case when it became clear that NY DOL laws, terminology, and errors would make it impossible for me to succeed. From the first call to Jonas Urba, it was clear to me that he had a great understanding of DOL and employment law, and very importantly he was going to be pragmatic and strategic in evaluating the merit of my case and in developing the factual framework to win. He researched NY DOL cases and identified three to use as precedent for my case. Four months later, three appeals later and three decision reversals later, we won the case and I have been awarded unemployment benefits. Jonas was persistent, consistent, thorough, factual and honest providing me with excellent legal counsel. He is also a gentleman who cares about his clients and is very easy to work with. I highly recommend Jonas and plan to leverage his knowledge and his network if and when I need legal support in the future.

Wrongful termination

I had a great experience with Jonas Urba in a wrongful termination matter. Mr. Urba was easy to contact and made me feel as though I was a priority case (which is SO hard to find in a lawyer). He was easy to talk to and more importantly, he won the case! I hope never to be in this situation again but if I happen to be, I would definitely use Mr. Urba's services again.

Mr. Urba Offers Expert Advice and Support

Facing an employment issue is one of the most upsetting events one can encounter. Unfortunately, many of us do face such moments. It is important to do so armed with expert legal advice. Mr. Urba came to my assistance at a very difficult time--when I had reached an impasse with my employer and thought it was likely that I would be asked to step down from my position. Mr. Urba responded to my request for help in a very timely manner. We spoke via phone and then met in person for a thorough discussion of the items at hand. We were able to come to an agreement with my employer very rapidly due to Mr. Urba's excellent assistance. I highly recommend that those in need of assistance do not try to work things out on their own, nor should they hire an attorney who is a generalist. It is important to work with an attorney who devotes his or her career to employment law--on the side of the employee. I want to thank Mr. Urba for bringing his years of knowledge to my situation.

He knows his stuff

I got in contact with Mr. Urba by complete chance, I called another lawyer and they told me that my case was not his expertise so I should call someone he knew was perfect for the job. Mr. Urba was very professional through and through, he had taken cases like mine before in the past and assured me that he knew the best course of action in order to properly represent my side. He walked me through what kind of questions I might be asked by the judge, and assured me that with his experience we would win. We did win the case, and I am thankful that he was the person to represent me. He is very transparent with his work, and wanted me to know exactly how the state system is going to view all the documents and evidence presented, and how they process all of the work. I am glad for the experience of being represented by Mr. Urba, and if I ever need any legal advice for the future I intend to turn to him first. I would very much recommend him to anyone and he will be my first contact for any of my friends or family if they need legal advice as well.
