Very negative experience

I never write reviews, but I believe it is my obligation to do so in this case. I hired Mr. Rintoul to file an appeal concerning a medical claim denial by an insurance company for my father. At that time, we had almost 4 months to file the appeal. Mr. Rintoul asked for a deposit of 4500 USD, which... I made right away. Two and a half months later the deposit was exhausted, and in my opinion the amount spent did not match the amount of work done. At that point I tried to negotiate a flat fee to complete the appeal, and Mr. Rintoul asked for 4000 USD, in addition to the 4500 USD initial deposit, to complete the appeal. I truly believe that this charge is unreasonably high. I never cooperate with people who are trying to overcharge me, so I terminated our cooperation. As a result, I found myself in a difficult situation, where it was only about a month left to file the appeal, so it is very hard to find another attorney. Moreover, I have paid 4500 USD to Mr. Rintoul, which I believe is a substantial overcharging for the work which has been done. I asked Mr. Rintoul to return 2500 USD, which is my estimate of the overcharging amount. He however declined to do so, unless I come to his office, for which I see no reason. I believe Mr. Rintoul has treated me unfairly. If you do not want to get into a similar situation, I strongly recommend to stay away from this attorney. I am giving 1 star only because there is no option to give 0 stars.

Whenever a client has a concern with my representation or my fee, I urge the client to speak with me by phone or in person, at the client’s choice and without charge. Once the client shares any concerns, I can respond to the concerns and discuss different options. We can then reach a mutual resolution once both sides have fully discussed their positions. The client says in his review that I offered to me meet with him, but that he didn’t see any reason for it. As you can see from my other reviews, communication with clients is the cornerstone of my practice. I am confident that we had sat down together, he and I would have been able to reach a resolution that both of us would have been satisfied with, and would have addressed his concerns. I am sorry he declined to take advantage of this opportunity.

Successful LTD appeal

Five stars to David Rintoul! My story: I have a rare, progressively debilitating autoimmune disorder, which caused me to stop working five years after its onset. I collected STD benefits through my company's group disability plan, and those rolled over to LTD benefits as expected. On reviewing the ...latter however, the insurer declined further LTD payments. I could not understand that, given how I felt, and all the history: hospitalizations, surgeries, ongoing steroid regimes, chemotherapies, etc. A family friend and attorney recommended David, stating, that's who he'd go to if he were in our shoes. David sat down with us and went over my medical issues. He next reviewed hundreds of pages of medical records, and researched my condition so he could fully represent the case. My condition is uncommon, difficult to diagnose, and crosses multiple medical specialties, so David's knowledge and experience were much appreciated here. He gave clear advice on what steps to take and what information was needed to be gathered and submitted for an appeal. Not surprisingly, a second appeal was required, with some additional wrangling along the way, but David finally called us with the news that my LTD benefits were fully restored, and all back payments were forthcoming. In general: David was always direct with what his preferred approach would be, but included my wife and me in decision making, getting our input and okay before proceeding. He was upfront regarding his fees, which were certainly reasonable. David is easy to talk to and takes the time to actually listen to what you're saying. He answers emails and phone calls quickly. I am very satisfied with the work David has done for us, and I would highly recommend him to others. Yes, five stars to David Rintoul!

LTD Appeal

Attorney Rintoul is an outstanding lawyer. I decided to hire a lawyer to appeal a long term disability denial. From the first conversation/visit it was apparent that he was honest and knowledgeable. He was clear what the cost would be and clear about my chances of success. His office staff is fri...endly and courteous, I never had to wait for an answer from them. David always made himself available via phone or email. He always kept me informed of progress in a timely manner. I was in management in an Aerospace business for many years before my illness. I understood how business works and how Attorneys representing your interests should act. David is top notch. I would recommend him and his firm to anyone who has disability or employment issues. I have started the process of recommending him to friends and family that are attorneys that don't specialize in the field for their referral. Thank you to David for a successful outcome.

EXCELLENT. Kind, caring, and takes his time!

GREAT lawyer. Gave me free advice quickly (actually answered the phone!), friendly, courteous, knowledgable...great guy, and THE attorney to use for any needs that he covers. I'm a client for life IF I ever need...top notch, top flight. Not like a lot of attorney's who are too business like, and don...'t seem to care. Like doctor's with poor 'bedside manners'. This guy rocks...definite recommend. Daniel C.

Cobra plan

I was referred to Mr.Rintoul by another attorney who recommended his professionalism in handling employment issues.Being unemployed I enrolled in Cobra plan but my former employer who was responsible for handling my insurance failed to insure me.I was making monthly Cobra payments and receiving bills... from my medical providers at the same time.I kept calling my former employer,Cobra insurance provider hired by that employer and my insurance firm for more than two months with no success. All of them were blaming each other and bills were piling.I called Mr.Rintoul and he admitted me the very next day.He took my case and handled it quickly and professionally. In couple days he solved my problems accepting only initial fee.In case I have any legal issues in future I will certainly ask him to help me.I can recommend Mr.Rintoul to anyone.
