Exceptional Legal Support

I highly recommend David Rintoul for anyone dealing with health insurance issues. He helped me navigate a complicated denial from my employer’s insurance and successfully won the appeal. David was professional, compassionate, and made a stressful situation much easier to handle. His expertise and ded...ication were evident throughout the process. Thanks to him, I got the coverage I deserved.

Outstanding professionalism!

Attorney Rintoul is a consummate professional: experienced, knowledgeable, and approachable. He won two substantial appeals, and he has been invaluable with isolated paperwork questions. He always provides specific, clear, timely guidance that leaves me feeling confident and calm. As well, he is very... respectful of billed time, which I appreciate tremendously. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Exceptionally devoted and knowledgeable

David has been handling my appeal with an insurance company that denied my short term disability claim. My disability is migraine related so it was important to find someone knowledgeable about the issue. David is phenomenal. He really understands migraine and the issues sufferers face medically and ...legally. His handling of my case has been superb at every step. He is also incredibly accessible: if you need to reach him, he's there. And finally, while lawyers have a reputation for being personally unpleasant, I found the opposite to be true of David. He is kind, friendly and has a good sense of humor. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Very negative experience

I never write reviews, but I believe it is my obligation to do so in this case. I hired Mr. Rintoul to file an appeal concerning a medical claim denial by an insurance company for my father. At that time, we had almost 4 months to file the appeal. Mr. Rintoul asked for a deposit of 4500 USD, which... I made right away. Two and a half months later the deposit was exhausted, and in my opinion the amount spent did not match the amount of work done. At that point I tried to negotiate a flat fee to complete the appeal, and Mr. Rintoul asked for 4000 USD, in addition to the 4500 USD initial deposit, to complete the appeal. I truly believe that this charge is unreasonably high. I never cooperate with people who are trying to overcharge me, so I terminated our cooperation. As a result, I found myself in a difficult situation, where it was only about a month left to file the appeal, so it is very hard to find another attorney. Moreover, I have paid 4500 USD to Mr. Rintoul, which I believe is a substantial overcharging for the work which has been done. I asked Mr. Rintoul to return 2500 USD, which is my estimate of the overcharging amount. He however declined to do so, unless I come to his office, for which I see no reason. I believe Mr. Rintoul has treated me unfairly. If you do not want to get into a similar situation, I strongly recommend to stay away from this attorney. I am giving 1 star only because there is no option to give 0 stars.

Whenever a client has a concern with my representation or my fee, I urge the client to speak with me by phone or in person, at the client’s choice and without charge. Once the client shares any concerns, I can respond to the concerns and discuss different options. We can then reach a mutual resolution once both sides have fully discussed their positions. The client says in his review that I offered to me meet with him, but that he didn’t see any reason for it. As you can see from my other reviews, communication with clients is the cornerstone of my practice. I am confident that we had sat down together, he and I would have been able to reach a resolution that both of us would have been satisfied with, and would have addressed his concerns. I am sorry he declined to take advantage of this opportunity.

Excellent Representation

I am very pleased to share my highly positive and beneficial experience in recently working with Attorney David Rintoul. With his expert guidance and assistance we achieved a positive outcome with my appeal to the State of Connecticut – Medical Examining Board for Disability Retirement (Board). The... Board had previously denied my initial claim for disability retirement based on insufficient records of medical evidence. I had only one chance to appeal a decision that would affect my retirement income for the rest of my life. At our initial meeting, Attorney Rintoul provided a realistic approach to the appeal process without promising a successful outcome. However, based on his experience, his explanation of the process and proposed course of action, my husband and I were confident he could truly give us a fighting chance. We made a very wise decision to engage the services of this experienced professional. Attorney Rintoul and his staff were very responsive to our inquiries along the way. Thanks to his expert approach, the actions taken, and preparations made by Attorney Rintoul we were very well prepared for our appeals hearing with the Board. Gratefully we achieved the outcome hoped for. We are convinced the outcome would have been much different without him.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
