Edward Castro is a seasoned legal professional who has dedicated his entire career to the field of family law within San Diego County.
Upon completing his legal education, Mr. Castro initially directed his expertise towards domestic violence prevention. Early on, he collaborated with the nonprofit organization San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program (SDVLP), overseeing their domestic violence restraining order clinic at the East County Courthouse of the San Diego County Superior Court.
Subsequently, in partnership with SDVLP, Mr. Castro managed and orchestrated the Family Law Access Project (FLAP) at the San Diego County Family Court. FLAP, situated within the courthouse, functioned as a mediation and family law clinic, extending legal guidance and support to self-represented litigants. During his tenure at FLAP, Mr. Castro significantly expanded the program's capability to assist individuals without legal representation. Eventually, FLAP made way for the Family Law Facilitator, a public initiative providing similar services.
Following his tenure with FLAP, Mr. Castro assumed the role of senior staff attorney and family law litigator at the YWCA Legal Advocacy Program. This program's core mission was to offer direct legal representation to victims of domestic violence in Family Court. Over six years with the YWCA, Mr. Castro adeptly handled diverse family law cases, encompassing divorce and paternity actions, contentious child custody disputes, complex spousal and child support matters, intricate division of marital estates, contested domestic violence restraining order applications, and appellate review of family court verdicts. Mr. Castro's proficiency in trial practice was notably honed by the challenge of navigating cases involving domestic violence.
In 2010, Mr. Castro transitioned to the Law Offices of Beatrice L. Snider, A Professional Corporation (BLSAPC), where he served with distinction for over a decade. BLSAPC's client base primarily comprised individuals with substantial net-worth estates. Rising to the position of partner in 2014, Mr. Castro accumulated considerable experience in handling complexities specific to high net-worth cases. His proficiency extended to resolving disputes over business valuation, intricate income analyses for prominent business owners, tracing claims across multiple transactions, safeguarding assets through trusts, and managing offshore interests. Moreover, Mr. Castro developed specialized knowledge in retaining and leveraging forensic experts in family court proceedings. His accomplishments included overseeing numerous extended trials (lasting five days or more) and maintaining a steady involvement in appellate review of family court decisions, with 15 appeals and writs over the past 12 years.
Mr. Castro obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1993 and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1982. He currently holds certification as a Family Law Specialist from the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Castro's outstanding achievements have garnered recognition, including his selection as a Super Lawyers Honoree in 2022 and 2023, as well as his designation as a San Diego County Top Attorney in 2015. His professional affiliations encompass the California State Bar Association, the United States District Court–Southern District of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, the San Diego Family Law Bar Association, and the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists.

Attorney Ed Castro was asked to take over my DVRO case, which seemed to be permanently skewed by a deceitful abuser, a less than truthful criminal attorney and a biased judge. Mr. Castro perceived my vulnerability and "jumped right in." He was tenacious, had a scholarly command of case law, and used ...
