I am fortunate to have hired Matthew Cohen to represent me in my divorce. In my opinion, Matt deserves an overall excellent rating. I was impressed by Matt 's dedication to his profession and his meticulous attention to detail. In addition, he is personable, energetic and funny. His sense of humor was invaluable during this difficult period.
Matthew Cohen delivered on every detail discussed pre-hire, with due diligence, and timely responses producing results!
When I found Matthew my divorce was stalled out for about two years. I had finally decide to wrap it up, and consulted a few firms. After my initial meeting with Matthew I was sold that he understood my case, and more importantly was focused on pushing the matter to a swift close.
Upon awarding Matthew my trust, he immediately picked up the pieces of my messy "self service" filing. Fortunately I made that decision when I did, as my now ex was mounting a completely unsubstantiated case against me. Throughout the next couple months as her attorney did everything under the sun, Matthew was reassuring, and completely in control of the proceedings. He was able to clearly articulate to me every angle the opposition was taking and why. As well as explain to me the futility in their approach, and our counter measures. After the dust settled, and Matthew was able to enlighten the opposing counsel, on the actual letter of the law. Her attorney removed herself from the case shortly after this meeting.
Matthew was steadfast in his initial assessment and game plan of pushing this sleepy case to an ending. Given the opportunity to go back on the offensive and moved forward with court proceedings which would have incurred more expense to me. Matthew again clearly laid out my options, and was able to negotiate an extremely favorable settlement for me. Saving me tens of thousands of dollars, which would have gone to his firm, and court costs. Once he was able to reach a negotiation (with a very difficult opposing party), the process to sign and finalize was swift and complete in a matter of days.
I am very grateful to Matthew and his team for not only their attention to detail, and prompt professional representation, but also the ability to clearly lay a path to success and follow it to conclusion. I will recommend Matthew to all of my friends in any future matters involving family law.
Thank you,
Michael
Washington uses the word
"Primary Residential Parent" to refer to what is commonly known as the parent with custody of their child.
Likewise, Washington uses the word "Non Primary Residential Parent" to refer to what is commonly known as the parent who does not have custody of their child.
Family law is a broad area of law that includes several topics relating to both married and unmarried people.
For example, family law includes divorce, child custody, child support, parentage actions, domestic violence, marriage contracts and other related issues involving the family.
Issues involving child support involve incomes, insurance and other financial aspects of allocating the financial responsibility between the parents of a child.

Superior Representation
I would not hesitate to recommend Matthew Cohen for any family law schenario. He chose to see me short notice and represent me with a full schedule. He gave my case his full attention despite fitting me in. Matthew takes time to get the facts and explain your position to you from both sides from a legal standpoint. He is professional, strategic, and extremely knowledgable. His fees are resonable and his communication is impeccable. I was also impressed that he is licensed in OR and WA.

Child Custody Battle
My Family was blindsided with restraining order and custody papers. We quickly looked for an attorney to take our case in a quick time frame. We set up with an appointment with Matthew and Tessa Cohen. They were amazing from that moment on. That very day they represented us in court. We WON! The next case was a little more drawn out, but they helped us through it. They were so knowledgeable and straightforward. They told us what we needed to present and when it had to be filed. They presented previous cases to show the court what the law stated. They always let us know what to expect. They are amazing, and MY Family will forever be grateful to them and their expertise. A great TEAM!
