also known as Jocelyn Ulrich
I served as a JAG on active duty in the Army from 2004 until 2012. I served as a military defense counsel for 3 years, as a military prosecutor for 2 years, and as 1 of 15 Army Special Victim Prosecutors for 2 years. Prior to litigating military courts-martial, I served as a part time military magistrate and made determinations as to probable cause search authorizations and command decisions to place military members in pretrial confinement. Since 2012, I have been exclusively defending military courts-martial in private practice and have represented military members in the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard. I devote the majority of my practice to investigations and defense of allegations of sexual assault.

Best Decision I ever made
In May of 2016 I was called into CID and accused of sexual assault with someone I had been with in Korea. This allegation came to me nearly half a year after I was with her. I knew what happened and knew there was nothing that could have been considered sexual assault but didn’t know what was being s...

One of the best
Being innocent and caught up in a CID investigation is incredibly frustrating. The unfortunate part is that until you are charged with something, the government will not provide you an attorney. I turned to Jocelyn when just such a thing happened to me, and I could not be happier with her work and ...
Thanks so much for your feedback, Matthew! I am incredibly satisfied this entire ordeal is now behind you.

Ray of Light
I hired Jocelyn Stewart when I found out I was facing a CID investigation for sexual assault. When I first found out I was not worried because the person accusing me has already made 5 IG complaints against me. After I talked to a JAG defense counsel I was not convinced that they would not be able to...

Charges dropped after Article 32 hearing
Jocelyn was consistently knowledgeable and confident about my case. She worked well with both appointed military council and with outside resources. While my case didn't go to to trial, she was aggressive in pursuing all available pre-trial options to get the charges dropped.

Unparalleled Knowledge, Interpersonality, & Ability
New to any kind of legal trouble, when I faced a problem I knew I couldn't handle on my own, I immediately consulted Jocelyn out of the blue based on recommendations I saw on the internet. Her reply was nearly instantaneous and set my mind at ease. Her knowledge of military law is unparalleled and ...
"Jocelyn is an amazing trial lawyer. She takes every case personally and fights for her clients with skill, passion and tireless effort. I have had the honor to see Jocelyn first hand as she learns about a client, the case and her opponent. She is able to take this knowledge and obtain some super human results. If you can get Jocelyn on your case, you have the best on your side. I have witnessed the amazing things she can do to accomplish excellent results. Jocelyn goes above and beyond in everything she does, I got to first meet Jocelyn at Trial Lawyer's College, it was a life long dream as we had the opportunity to work with some of the finest trial lawyers in the country, including Gerry Spence. Even among such accomplished lawyers, Jocelyn stood out because of her dedication and passion in fighting for justice."
"I had the pleasure of working with Jocelyn Stewart at the prestigious Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming. It was there that I saw first hand the kind of person she is. Few attorneys have the grit that Jocelyn has. She has a level of honor, courage, and commitment that you only see from military servicewomen. Her dedication to her country is only equal to her commitment to her clients. Jocelyn is a fighter and it is because of my personal observations that I without reservation highly recommend her services to others."
"I had the privilege of working with Jocelyn and I absolutely recommend hiring her! She is incredibly talented and truly impressed me--both with her legal skills and with her dedication to her cases. Jocelyn is one of the sharpest attorneys I have ever met and will absolutely deliver for you! I would have my family and friends hire her in a heartbeat!"
"Jocelyn is an outstanding attorney whose dedication to client service sets her apart from others in the field. She is an outstanding communicator who not only delivers outstanding results for clients, but does so with a level of personal interaction and client involvement that is rare among trial attorneys. Her talent and exceptional work ethic is respected and admired by fellow attorneys, adversaries, and judges alike."
"I give my strongest recommendation to Ms. Jocelyn Stewart. I met Jocelyn while working at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. At that time, she worked as a Military Defense Counsel. Jocelyn is a gifted lawyer, with remarkable work ethic and stellar advocacy skills."
"I highly endorse Jocelyn. She works hard for her clients and gets impressive results. More importantly, she actually cares about the clients she represents. I would not hesitate to recommend Jocelyn to anyone in need of a superb trial lawyer."
"I had the pleasure of trying a number of cases against Jocelyn when we were both on active duty together. Jocelyn was a brand new trial attorney at the time. She impressed me with her dedication, preparation, knowledge of the case law, and overall performance. Even as a new trial attorney, Jocelyn distinguished herself from other attorneys with her tremendous performance. I highly recommend Jocelyn if you are facing UCMJ action."
"I had the pleasure of "learning the ropes" from Jocelyn at several US Army Trial Counsel Assistance Program training events. She was an excellent Special Victim Prosecutor and is a first-rate trial attorney, legal practitioner, and living, breathing, walking Manual for Courts Martial (MCM). Her trial skills and vast knowledge of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is nothing short of astounding!"
"Jocelyn is an excellent attorney with a commanding grasp of military law! I've read many of her posts here on Avvo and am impressed with her legal knowledge and the thoughtfulness of her answers. If I were needing an attorney for a military law issue, I'd definitely contact Jocelyn, and you'd be wise to do so as well!"
"I endorse this lawyer. Her answers to questions and clear and correct. She is knowledgeable attorney in this area."
"I endorse this lawyer. As a veteran and former USMC JAG, I give Jocelyn my highest recommendation. Consummate professional that can be counted on to get results in the toughest cases."
"Jocelyn is a passionate attorney who fight tirelessly for her clients. I give this attorney my highest recommendation."
"I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer. A brilliant, trustworthy and highly respected attorney in the legal community."
"I worked with Ms. Stewart in sexual violence prosecution. She impressed me as a skilled litigator. She worked hard and achieved solid results."
"I've known Ms. Stewart for nearly 7 years. A zealous advocate and top-notch litigator, I would recommend her practice and professionalism in any area of the law. Whether the matter is criminal or civil, you won't find a better attorney by your side in a courtroom. Ethical, forthright, and persistent - exactly what you want in a co-counsel or attorney advocating for you!"
"I worked in the same military defense office with Ms. Stewart at Fort Hood, Texas. She was without a doubt the most experienced, polished, and dedicated attorney in our office. When I was assigned to a case where I was convinced my client was innocent of the allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, I told the client that if he wanted the best possible representation, then we needed to ask for Ms. Stewart (then on active duty) to be on the case. He agreed and Ms. Stewart joined our team. Ms. Stewart put together a strategic and surgically precise defense that resulted in a quick acquittal of all charges. Her efforts were nothing short of phenomenal and saved the client's military career. I would gladly work with Ms. Stewart again and endorse her on any military justice matter!"
"Over the course of 18 months we worked together on a series of military criminal defense cases. Her work in motions practice and in trial (cross-examination, closing argument) is among the best I have personally observed. I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer."
