Phenomenal Lawyer

Unequivocally, the lawyer you want representing you if there are any EO allegations/complaints against you while in the military. Unfortunately for my situation, I sought local legal representation, which was terrible, and I regretted not contacting Ms. Stewart FIRST after talking with her. Ms. Stew...art provided immediate representation and sound legal advice, which established the tone going forward, ultimately leading to an unsubstantiated complaint.

Excellent experience

I hired Ms. Stewart as my attorney after being falsely accused of sexual harassment while on deployment. I had reached out to her early in the process while waiting for NCIS and my command to complete their investigation. Over six months into the process, without hearing any news about the status of... the investigation, I was told that I would have to be present for an XOI with under 48 hours notice. I thankfully had already retained Ms. Stewart months before this notification, and she quickly worked to contact witnesses for me to testify at the XOI and helped me prepare a statement and answer any questions during the XOI. She also advised me about the likely XOI outcomes and was able to give me sound guidance about how to next proceed. When I received the unfortunate recommendation of NJP, Ms. Stewart helped guide me to my next steps, believing that the facts were in my favor and that requesting Courts Martial would be the best way to resolve this issue. My command declined this option and instead sent my case for a Board of Inquiry. She continued to provide timely advice on the implications of this and how we may be able to prepare. Due to conflicts with her schedule, one of her partners ended up representing me at the BOI, who she did extensive prep work with so that he was well prepared to defend my case. At the BOI we were able to finally present the facts of the case and not only was I retained for service but the Board felt that the accusations made against me were not credible. I am very thankful for Ms. Stewart's professionalism and expertise. While I was always confident the facts of the case were on my side, it was very intimidating defending myself against the government. I no very little about law and the UCMJ procedures and having someone with Ms. Stewart's background to guide and explain the Navy's legal processes was priceless. While her services come at a cost, I always felt confident that I was investing in my own future and protecting against outcomes that would have had a substantial negative financial impact against myself and my family. Had I waited to be assigned counsel by the military, I would not have had someone strongly advocating for me during the investigative process and would not have had the ability to plan and prepare for the XOI. Thank you, Ms. Stewart.

Responsive, Professional and Caring

I needed some help with an administrative action in the military that was disproportionately strong for a minor infraction. One of the challenges in the military is knowing what your rights are, and knowing how to navigate and defend oneself in a bureaucracy that is confusing and inconsistent. I was ...getting inconsistent advice from different people, and the JAG did not seem to even know what was going on (they were overwhelmed with volume of cases, not very responsive to emails or phone calls, and the one I worked with seemed inexperienced and was giving me incorrect information, including some advice that ended up not helping me (by closing some avenues that should have been pursued). I reached out to Jocelyn for help and advice. She responded quickly and professionally to my initial request over email, then we met in person, and I immediately got the impression that Jocelyn was experienced and knew exactly what should and should not be happening in my case. Jocelyn then put together a plan, timeline, and a fixed-price estimate for us to move forward. At that point, I knew what needed to be done (by her and by me), how long it would take, and how much it would cost. After months of stress and confusion, I finally had some answers and a plan to move forward. Jocelyn represented me at my administrative hearing, and did so very well. She was well-prepared, professional, and I received the best possible outcome. I am very happy with the work that Jocelyn did on my behalf to represent me and I felt that she cared about my situation and did her best to advocate for me.

Highly recommended

There are no words to express my gratitude and appreciation for what Jocelyn Stewart has done for my family. We faced false accusations that only a miracle could save us from. Jocelyn was that miracle. Her knowledge of the law is highly impressive and her professionalism is remarkable. Her continued ...commitment and hard work showed us how much she cared about our case. Jocelyn is incredibly intelligent and she is a shark in the courtroom! She saved my family from tragedy and I will forever be grateful. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking legal representation. She will go to war for you!

Call Her ASAP!

Calling Jocelyn was the second best thing I did after being ambushed by a CID agent, the first thing being smart enough to refuse to speak with them at all. She quickly responded to an afterhours cell phone call and due to her working knowledge and experience in the field, was able to explain to me t...he most likely circumstances surrounding my situation. The process of being the subject of an investigation and the subsequent actions WILL mean that A. you will get no support from your COC or other elements of the US Army, and B. you WILL feel absolutely alone during the duration – no matter the outcome. Having Jocelyn in my corner was my most valuable asset to answer my many questions, communicate with L.E. and others involved on my behalf, and she was absolutely the deciding factor in my one hundred percent positive outcome. My biggest take away from the entire experience is that the military’s legal system is definitely not set up for the accused to have any support, this means you will need to get your own - and you will need to do it quick!

"I worked in the same military defense office with Ms. Stewart at Fort Hood, Texas. She was without a doubt the most experienced, polished, and dedicated attorney in our office. When I was assigned to a case where I was convinced my client was innocent of the allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, I told the client that if he wanted the best possible representation, then we needed to ask for Ms. Stewart (then on active duty) to be on the case. He agreed and Ms. Stewart joined our team. Ms. Stewart put together a strategic and surgically precise defense that resulted in a quick acquittal of all charges. Her efforts were nothing short of phenomenal and saved the client's military career. I would gladly work with Ms. Stewart again and endorse her on any military justice matter!"

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
