I am writing this review of attorney Scott Blankenship to share the details of my experience with him to help others who are seeking legal representation. I recently needed his assistance again and the experience caused me to reflect on the quality of service that he provides and the quality person that he is.

Previously, I hired Scott as my attorney to represent me with an employment matter. This was the first time that I ever needed to hire an attorney. The process that I went through to find the right representation was not easy. When in distress, many of us are emotional and we want help immediately. When finding help is a challenge it only exasperates how one feels.

I contacted four different legal firms, one of which was The Blankenship Law Firm. Two firms did not return my call after I provided their assistants with the details of my dispute; this was very discouraging. I met with another attorney at their office who showed little interest or empathy for my situation, but they gladly had me pay their fee at the end of our one hour meeting. My experience with the fourth firm that I contacted, The Blankenship Law Firm, was different.

I left the same message with Scott Blankenship's assistant that I had left at the other three firms. I was told that Scott wasn't available but a time was scheduled when we could talk. After Scott and I talked by phone we scheduled a time to meet at his office. We discussed my situation in detail. I was impressed with how well he listened, how he engaged me and the questions that he asked. He felt strongly that I had a case that we could go forward with. We discussed his fee structure which I thought was fair and in-line with industry practices. I now had my attorney. Even though there was considerable time and work ahead of us to reach the finish line, knowing that I had someone of Scott's caliber assisting me and handling the strategy was a tremendous relief.
Throughout my case I saw several things in Scott that reminded me that I had made the right decision. He showed that he cared for me and my situation. He was always a straight communicator. He was ethical. He was consistent. He had integrity. He coached me and helped me clearly understand what mattered and what did not, in order for us to possibly prevail. He never made any guarantees on what the outcome would be but he felt strongly that we had a good chance to succeed. There were times when the process was not moving along as fast as I would have liked but that was not because of Scott. He reminded me to remain patient because sometimes our expectations of time, as well as the final results, are not always realistic. Fortunately, we prevailed.

I would recommend Scott and his team to anyone who is in need of an employment attorney who is formidable and does the very best he can to get the best possible result for his clients. The traits that I used to describe Scott in the preceding paragraph were always present from the beginning to the end.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I recently contacted Scott on another matter because I have total confidence in his abilities. I look forward to working with him again and do so with no hesitation.

  • "With Scott’s Integrity, Work-ethic, and Razor-sharp Advocacy in Court, I Got a Great Result And Helped Me Clear my Name"

When I was abruptly terminated without cause, I knew it was grossly unfair and I had to fight it. But I didn’t know where to begin—my reputation was ruined and most people I approached, both professionally and socially, looked at me with suspicion and disdain. Since I was fired from a large, powerful, popular Catholic healthcare system, colleagues and friends thought that I must have done something terrible to deserve termination. It was an extremely stressful time for my family and me.

Thankfully, we eventually met Scott and his team as a referral from a physician colleague. Scott listened to me thoroughly and believed in me. While everyone—family, friends, and enemies alike—wanted me to just let it go and leave town, Scott understood my need to clear my name. This was all I needed. It was a great comfort to be heard, but also very empowering to know that a lawyer of his caliber and experience was willing to stand by a ruined individual like me to fight a big institution.

Catholic Health Initiatives/CHI Franciscan Health was brutal and brazen with its retaliation and harassment, but Scott did not back down. He thoughtfully advised me about big and small decisions. He was always available to talk or meet. He was sincerely concerned about the lawsuit’s impact on my family. His staff was immensely supportive, thorough and efficient. I truly felt that I had a team before me and behind me at all times. They sought out my input constantly. It was a solid collaboration. I no longer felt alone.

I saw Scott in action in many settings—in legal communications, in depositions, in court, in mediation — and he is razor-sharp and relentless. I was at awe at Scott’s attention to every legal detail. With his staff, we poured over more than 10,000 pages of documents and more than 40 hours of videos. Scott and I worked through several lunch hours and even met with witnesses on several Sundays. His work ethic is exemplary, his devotion to a just cause nothing short of admirable, and his integrity beyond reproach.

Much to everyone’s surprise, just over a week before trial was to begin, we won a $2.5 million settlement from Catholic Health Initiatives/CHI Franciscan Health. It was only then that many people looked at me without suspicion and disdain. They began to listen and ask for details. Only then did they believe that a physician could be wrongfully terminated and maliciously framed by a big beloved Catholic institution. This made me appreciate Scott even more, that he trusted me and was willing to defend me when it was too inconvenient and complicated for most. I have no doubt that the successful resolution of my lawsuit was directly due to the great skill and expertise of Scott and his team at The Blankenship Law Firm.

  • Blankenship Fee Agreement operates to the lawyers advantage and clients Disadvantage

Read this before signing a fee agreement with the Blankenship law firm. I am not the first fee dispute, records show that in 2014 Judge Richard Jones decreased Mr. Blankenship's fee petition by 1 million dollars. (The case, Conti v. Corporate Services Group, Inc. 30 F. Supp3d 1051 W.D. Wa. 2014)
If you sign the Blankenship fee agreement you will allow him to take most or all of your settlement. Your pain and suffering and job loss will be drawn out for years. My case was never filed for an entire year and I was never told this. Yet, many time keepers worked on the case around the clock, as many as 6-8 time keepers on the case, I had a full office on this case but nothing was filed. In three years as a client, I NEVER ONCE received a real itemized bill showing what the attorneys were actually billing. I had no clue I would be paying $500/hour for Mr. Blankenship to eat lunch and for all of their lunches, dinners and uber as a client. Who knew that bills could be padded with no documentation that matched up. Once a settlement was decided, amazingly the bills for Mr. Blankenship closely matched the amount. Although, I as a client informed him I was not happy with that, I was pressured and told that Mr. Blankenship would drop me as a client and sue me if I refused to sign. Mr. Blankenship then told my husband that we were greedy if we did not allow Mr. Blankenship to take 84% of the settlement and the only way he would negotiate his billing records would be for us to sign the agreement. Deadlines and pressure after 3 years when he could not even file the case in a year.

Consumers are the best judges! If you sign up to give Mr. Blankenship well over 84% of your settlement and Mr. Blankenship and a judge may think that this is fair YOU are the consumer to judge fairness. We are a free country to decide so other consumers may not want to make this mistake of signing up with the Blankenship firm.

Mr. Blankenship will not negotiate or try to make you happy as a client, he will threaten you with legal action to remove your reviews so that no one knows what the Blankenship fee agreement really is about, but I want the public to know. I only wish I saw this information long ago to make a better decision for me and my family. Mr. Blankenship will also post confidential cases to reviews that are sealed, not keeping to professionalism or confidentiality as an attorney to the case and client.

Scott Crispin Greco Blankenship’s response: “While we respect and appreciate candid feedback and always seek to learn from it, this client actually brought these accusations to court in the first-ever fee dispute I have had in over 24 years in practice. The U.S. District Court ruled in addressing this dispute that I, Scott Blankenship, “achieved an excellent result for [this client] despite the difficulties that this case presented.” In fact, this former client received the upper end of what she authorized for her settlement after fees and costs were deducted from her recovery. Regarding accusations that I acted in any way that was improper or unfair to this client, the U.S. District Court ruled, “nothing of the sort occurred here.” Regarding any claim that I did not diligently prosecute her case, the federal judge recognized, there “is no evidence in support of this accusation.” As to the reference to the Conti case, it is not a client fee dispute relating to a reduction of fees, and the federal judge added “[this former client] fails to establish any relevant similarities.” In that case, I convinced 12 jurors to find for the plaintiff, Mr. Conti in a hotly disputed race discrimination case. In short, the federal judge reviewed all of the evidence and ruled her accusations were “uniformly extreme and patently unfounded, which reflects poorly on the accusers—attorneys who, quite frankly should know better.” The same is true regarding this review it is both extreme and patently unfounded. We continue to have empathy for this former client and her many struggles. We will continue to get excellent results for our clients and regret that we must respond to this review. The Order Granting Motion to Enforce the Fee Agreement was signed by Judge Coughenour on March 31, 2016 in case number C13-0860 and is filed with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.”

I wasn't sure I wanted to take legal action against my former employer -- I had a new baby and they were offering a severance package. The Blankenship Law Firm thought I had a strong case and took it on contingency. They were thorough, communicative, and professional. The Blankenship Law Firm negotiated a much larger settlement than my former employer initially offered and I am extremely pleased with their work. I would, and have, recommend them to anyone with employment legal questions.

I retained The Blankenship Law Firm after being subjected to a hostile, discriminative, and retaliatory work environment. I was treated unfairly, and I was isolated and prosecuted for speaking out against these matters. I left the job feeling hopeless, depressed, financially deprived, and the situation impacted me greatly and emotionally. I met Scott Blankenship through an acquaintance with a matter close to mine. Upon meeting Scott, his associate, Rick Goldsworthy, and the staff at The Blankenship Law Firm, I was quite impressed with their professionalism, friendliness, and the remarkable report they had within the law community. I felt like part of the family. Scott and his colleagues worked diligently in getting this matter resolved and getting me compensation for the wrong that was done to me by my former employer. The outcome was more than fair and favorable. I recommend these individuals to anyone that has experienced employment retaliation and discrimination.

The Blankenship Law Firm could not have gotten a better outcome for my case. They were above and beyond the greatest team to work for that I could have imagined. It was a true partnership and I truly felt they genuinely cared for me as a person, not just a client. They saw all sides of my situation and what I was looking for to be able to move forward with my life after being sexually harassed and retaliated against by my employer at the time. There are more considerations in dealing with harassment and retaliation then just a monetary outcome. Scott Blankenship and his associate Robin Shishido understood that a successful outcome for me needed to result in more than just a financial compensation. They consistently thought outside of the box and approached my case strategically at all times. I have worked with lawyers before for other needs and there is no comparison. Scott and Robin are a great team and I could not recommend them any higher. I value them as friends not just as representation. You would be lucky to work with them.

    HEAVEN SENT

When I first met with Scott Blankenship and his team, I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. For the first time, I truly felt like everything was going to be okay. Finding an attorney is a stressful and mentally draining reality. When I began my search, I didn't know exactly where to start. I sent numerous letters to several attorneys around the area, and after several weeks went by with no responses, I started losing all hope that I would ever see justice done.

Just when I had almost given up, I foundThe Blankenship Law Firm online, and began reading about the firm and attorney Scott Blankenship in particular. I learned that Scott has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” every year from 2003-2012, was included in "The Best Lawyers in America" for 2012 by Best Lawyers, and was named a Top Lawyer by SeattleMetropolitan Magazinein both 2010 and 2011. Most importantly, when I read that Scott is committed to achieving justice for his clients, and believes that no person, government, or corporate entity is beyond the reach of the law, I knew that I had found an attorney who would vigorously represent me and help right the wrongs I had suffered.

After countless hours of preparing, gathering information, getting witnesses together, phone calls, emailing back and forth, and several trips to Seattle, The Blankenship Law Firm and I received justice. I could not have asked for a better team to represent me. I can honestly say that I have gained new friends for life. Scott Blankenship and his law firm are truly angels from above.

Having had the opportunity to witness and make substantial contribution to the growth of one of the largest and fastest growing corporations over the past decade had always made me feel proud.

For the most recent years, working full time at the same company with a serious disability had also been something that gave me so much hope and purpose in life until all of a sudden the reasonable accommodation I had been officially receiving was abruptly taken away from me by a new management following my medical leave.

Then one event after another started to evolve blurring the boundary between a bad noir story and an outright nightmare. Before long, I found myself working very long hours, struggling with a serious disease and at the same time fighting discrimination at a place I loved so much.

In the months that followed, I complained to the company time and again, but to no avail. Along the way, I discovered the sad reality that as long as someone is labelled "low performer", even when the premise is completely false, the whole corporate machine would crushing down on you like a hurricane without any mercy and never bother to check on the supporting facts. At last, I gathered all my energy, wrote through many dark nights, and finally filed an official complaint in writing. I was issued an official response the very next day - a termination letter.

Looking for an attorney to take my case then became another uphill battle until Greg from Scott's team called passionately, following a conversation with one of my witnesses.

To summarize Scott's team, the words from one of the firm's past clients come to my mind - personable professional, success.

Along the process, I delightedly discovered Scott's team has quite an interesting mix of personalities under their attorney's dark suits. Aside from being extremely intelligent, they are indeed a passionate bunch. As a client, you not only will feel very safe with your case in their hands, but also you will feel being blessed to be associated with these people that can make a legal struggle that much different from what one usually expects.

They went through extra miles to shield unnecessary pressure and anxiety from their clients, while at the same time, worked diligently to protecting client's interests.

At the end of the day, I feel satisfied that my lost pay was reasonably compensated, Scott's team was rewarded for their hard work, and I got a sense of justice.

Although my case ends here, I believe without a doubt that the story with Scott's team will continue. With their almost contagious passion and exceptionally persistent fight for justice, certain corporations' bad behaviors will change and our society could become an even better place for all the hard working good people to enjoy their lives without having to face any type of wrongful discrimination.

I highly recommend The Blankenship Law Firm who exceeded my expectations. I came to The Blankenship Law Firm after enduring years of abuse. This began as one of the darkest periods of my life. My complaints made to a high level manager were ignored. It finally got so bad there that I got sick and had to leave a job I needed and had for many years. Scott and his team fought hard for me, and were able to settle my case before I had to file a lawsuit. I expected money and got a fair amount, but Scott got me more than that. I ended up being treated with respect and dignity in the end by my employer. The high level manager was actually fired. Thanks to Scott and how professionally he handled the situation with my former employer, I was able to make amends with my former company who genuinely apologized to me. Before hiring a lawyer I looked hard. Please check out the firm’s website at www.blankenshiplawfirm.com and see for yourself why I selected this firm.
