Hard-working. When I think of Scott that is the first adjective that comes to mind. He is on your side and you know it. He is also fair, honest and tenacious. He's a good lawyer AND he's a good person. I appreciated how he handled our case. Even though we didn't prevail in our difficult lawsuit I wou...ld retain him again.

Grateful for the team at Blankenship

I was taken on as a client for a wrongful termination and discrimination case. Everyone I worked with at the firm really cared about my case and seeking justice. All were friendly and kind. I have never worked with lawyers or had litigated ever, so I was really green to how things operate. My feedbac...k for future clients and or firm is to provide a breakdown of billable hours throughout the case. I didn’t even get a breakdown once it ended, only told the total amount in mediation. My case lasted 3.5 years and had I been aware of what their billable hours were building too, I wouldn’t have been as shocked with what I got from my settlement once their fees were taken out. I was also shocked that it wasn’t until mediation day that my team discovered the opposing sides business insurance total payout amounts. It limited what we were ultimately allowed to settle for, as opposing would not go beyond the cap allowed. Greatly reducing what the original offer started at and what my team felt my case was truly worth. So if there is a way for the firm to look into that in the early days, it could help determine how long the case should go on for, knowing the billable hours will always surpass the 40% fee agreement. Overall, I am pleased with the team and everyone who fought hard for me. Just a little shocked at the breakdown of everything in the end.

Super Lawyer

HEAVEN SENT When I first met with Scott Blankenship and his team, I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. For the first time, I truly felt like everything was going to be okay. Finding an attorney is a stressful and mentally draining reality. When I began my search, I didn't kn...ow exactly where to start. I sent numerous letters to several attorneys around the area, and after several weeks went by with no responses, I started losing all hope that I would ever see justice done. Just when I had almost given up, I foundThe Blankenship Law Firm online, and began reading about the firm and attorney Scott Blankenship in particular. I learned that Scott has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” every year from 2003-2012, was included in "The Best Lawyers in America" for 2012 by Best Lawyers, and was named a Top Lawyer by SeattleMetropolitan Magazinein both 2010 and 2011. Most importantly, when I read that Scott is committed to achieving justice for his clients, and believes that no person, government, or corporate entity is beyond the reach of the law, I knew that I had found an attorney who would vigorously represent me and help right the wrongs I had suffered. After countless hours of preparing, gathering information, getting witnesses together, phone calls, emailing back and forth, and several trips to Seattle, The Blankenship Law Firm and I received justice. I could not have asked for a better team to represent me. I can honestly say that I have gained new friends for life. Scott Blankenship and his law firm are truly angels from above.

Poor Business Practice...

I’m sure Scott Blankenship is a fine attorney. And I’m sure because of that, him & his firm are extremely busy. They have ever right to turn down any case, for any reason. They could be too busy, could be too small of a case, or maybe there’s no case at all. Their policy of, “if you don’t hear back f...rom us, we don’t want your case” is simply in bad taste. Hire an intern, or secretary, or find some other method to just tell people “no thanks” rather than leave people hanging & waiting while they wonder. It’s inconsiderate & just in poor taste.

Does not listen

After contacting, sending several emails with great detail, and even going over the case on the phone, it was clear that they were not listening. I was contacted by an intern (or similar employee) who was eating and only half listening during the phone call and clearly talking to someone else while o...n the phone with me. Repeating myself and going over the same info many times, which I definitely understand, but they kept asking me to repeat basic info like the company’s name etc.. When I asked why they were getting caught on an area of my case that was not related to the problem, they could not give me an answer. It felt like they were fishing for information while I was not protected under attorney client privilege which is something I’ll need to take another look into now.

"I had the pleasure to work with Scott as co-counsel in the race discrimination trial of Zhang v. American Gem Seafoods. The jury returned a verdict of $3,100,000.00, which is one of the highest awards ever returned for this type of case. Scott fought for this client serving as appellate and lead counsel all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. He ultimately obtained a final recovery of close to $4,000,000.00. This exceptional outcome is a testament to Scott’s high standards of trial preparation, tenaciousness in court, and skill as an appellate lawyer. I have no hesitation in recommending Scott to any potential client. Peter M. Brown, Dawson-Brown ps"

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
