I had no idea where to start with my small claims proceeding. I contacted Michael Eng by phone and email as he was part of my legal insurance network. I began by describing the situation and outlining the timeline. He first reinforced that I had a case to make as the plaintiff. He was honest and said... the battle would be tough and the claim amount was rather nominal. Regardless, Michael said I had a valid argument and it would be my decision to make, whether or not I wanted to take the defendant on. I spent about 60 plus hours gathering eveidence to support my timeline, and after 6 months since contacting Michael, I went to file my Small Claim's case at the courthouse. I had my case heard about one month later and sure enough the defendant did not have a valid argument to present. The judge pretty much grilled the defendant when he seemed rather unprepared. My case was pretty self-explanatory and the judge understood the pretense rather quickly. I am happy the judge ruled in my favor after a grueling 12 months. I was lucky that I had legal insurance and that Michael was in the network of lawyers. He was very understanding and also provided valuable feedback and advice.
