Someone on Your Side

I consulted with Michael several months ago regarding an issue with my landlord. It was not a cut-and-dry issue. My apartment was sweltering hot (80+ degrees) even with the AC on full blast. I was getting headaches. But the AC system was "working"; it just wasn't strong enough for the heat. Michael w...as kind and compassionate. My landlord is a multinational, publicly traded corporation. In other words, my landlord is a stock ticker. It felt overwhelming to try to confront my landlord when they have billions of dollars and a team of lawyers, especially when it was not a cut-and-dry case. Michael helped outline my options and explained the pros, cons, and risks of each. I asked several very detailed questions, and he provided useful information on all of them. It felt like I had someone on my side. Ultimately, I negotiated with my landlord to move to a downstairs unit in the shade, which resolved the issue without needing to go through the stress of a legal process.

Picks and chooses when to help

I was assigned this attorney through a network benefit from my employer. I told them exactly what I needed and I was never properly matched. Another attorney was kind enough to correspond with the plaintiffs attorney but no one actually worked or assisted with my case. Michael doesn’t care, he didn’...t want to touch it because another attorney literally communicated in an attempt to help but was never actively working my case. To prevent eviction a paralegal submitted paperwork but again is not touching any other aspect of case. But due to this he can’t help. I think it was a weak move and a cop out. How are you working a case touched by another attorney when it’s only due to kindness I even got the help I got? I guess I’ll just have to wait to be kicked out since he didn’t even care about the specific details of the case. I finally after over a month of begging got assigned to someone that could help and won’t. It’s frustrating and things like this is why I’m studying for the LSAT. I want to help ppl who had bad luck and just want to get their lives back on track. I would never want anyone to feel have I have been left to feel.

Anonymous, you are simply ranting because you did not get what you want. Further, you are omitting key facts. Here are the key facts. Your case was referred to our office in early September 2023. You did not contact us until a few days ago, over a month later. When you finally did, I responded to all your emails (and there were many) within hours, after reviewing and analyzing all your information. We did not charge you anything for the legal services, which we could have. At any rate, we are a busy law firm. As such, it is humanly impossible for us to accept every case that comes to us. So, we have to choose cases based on criteria that are crucial to our law practice. We do not handle cases that have been worked on by another attorney, regardless of the type of work the other attorney did on the case. Many other law firms have similar policies. Further, your case is not the first one we have declined for that same reason. Finally, in case you are not aware, you have the right to choose which attorney you want to work with. Similarly, we (like every other law firm) have the right to choose which case we want to work on. In your situation, you chose several other attorneys before contacting us. It turns out, as you stated to me, that none of them worked out. More importantly, you stated, "it seems I should have been matched with you from the start." So now, you are ranting and using me as a punching bag simply because you feel you got the wrong attorneys before contacting us. I am not sure how that relates to the quality of our legal services.

Good!

Michael was very helpful in providing legal advice when we were in a pinch regarding a real estate transaction. We were pressed for time and it is very challenging to get legal consultation with only a few days time but Michael was very understanding, accomadating and squeezed us in last minute and t...ook time to understand our issue. The only suggestion I would have is for Michael to improve the sound quality of his phone or phone system (maybe something to do with using Google for calls?) as it was at times challenging to hear him.

Thank you for your review. However, you assumed incorrectly. We do NOT use Google for calls, or for anything else. We are a professional law firm, and our telephone system is of the highest quality. Throughout our telephone call, I could hear you perfectly. Before connecting with you, I was on another call, and the other person and I could hear each other perfectly. So, more likely than not, the sound quality you experienced was a result of your telephone, wireless signal, or both.

Can't appreciate more for your help

It is related to a consumer protection issue. I called several lawyers before I called Michael. After briefly giving my issue to their assistant, they all rejected to take the case, nor gave any advice. Michael returned my phone in a day and squeeze his lunch time and talked with me about my case.... He listened patiently about my story and fully understood my concern. He told me that due to the contract itself, it is not feasible for a lawyer to present me, but he did give a list of options for me to get my money and justice back. He advised me cons and pros of each option. Over the whole conversion, he is so patient and down to details. He is also very knowledgeable. He is truly someone I can trust and look for help in the future if I need.

Great Advice

I had a fraudulent charge on my credit card that my credit card company was holding me liable for. This was beyond frustrating and scary, and I had no idea to where to start to get this sorted out. I reached out to the office of Michael Eng, was asked for some basic info, and was told someone would f...ollow up with me that day. Mike sent me an email several hours later to setup a time to discuss my case. To my relief, he was able to fit me in the next day. He was able to give me clear directions on the steps I needed to take to resolve the matter and to protect myself from future cases of identity theft. He was very friendly and helpful and made me feel like things would work out, and they did :) I would recommend Mike to anyone.
