Waste of Time
Overall he seemed knowledgeable. However the issue I had was that we spent almost an hour only for him to say he was busy and could not take my case due to busy workload. I get that he is busy, but then why take the consult in the first place???
Anonymous, thank you for your comment. However, you left out some very critical facts. Without revealing the legal details of our discussion, here are the omitted critical facts. First, at the beginning of our phone call, I specifically stated to you that I do not accept a new case unless our law firm has the available personnel to work on the case. Otherwise, your case would be sitting in our office until someone is available to work on it. I also stated that you could contact another attorney if you wanted to. You proceeded to ask questions about the legal matters you need help with, and I responded to your questions. So, to be accurate, the "almost an hour" time was spent answering your questions and explaining the legal process. Before we ended our call, I stated to you that I would have someone in my office check on our workload and that I would email you whether or not we can take on your case. Like any other busy law firm, our workload changes depending on factors outside of our control. I emailed you the very next day. Second, I took "the consult in the first place" because you called our office and asked that I return your call, which I did. An initial consultation is a time for me to understand the legal issues to determine whether or not they are within our legal expertise, and it is a time for you to consider whether or not you would want to retain our legal services. It is a two-way street. Third, your initial consultation is limited to 30 minutes. For time over the 30 minutes, you would be charged under our regular hourly rate. Yet, I did not charge you anything for time over the 30 minutes. In sum, I extended professional courtesy to you. In return, you showed otherwise. Nevertheless, we wish you the best.
