I was unexpectedly terminated by my employer and given a lengthy document to sign, all of which protected and indemnified the company, but gave me nothing. Tracy reviewed the document and came up with issues that were illegal under California law and other issues that they weren't considering. The st...rategy was for me to do the corresponding and talking with her coaching and guidance, because if she responded directly on my behalf, they would lawyer up and it would get really expensive really fast. Tracy and I wrote a detailed response with many questions and challenges, signed only by me. My phone call to go over it didn't seem to go well, but the next day they came back with a dramatically different attitude and offer. I'm sure they ran it past their attorneys who saw that I had solid points coming from counsel.
