Not a good experience.

Seemed to have a lot on his plate. Forgot things we discussed frequently and didn't follow-up in writing. Difficult to have a phone conversation; you get talked over a lot. Working with basic technology was difficult. The day before my hearing, I received less than 24 hours notice that he wasn't goin...g to represent me. A few days later I got a letter of disengagement.

1) I do have a lot on my plate. 2) I didn't frequently forget things we discussed. I often have clients go over events more than once, as this can help jog their memory regarding important details. I can see how this might try someone's patience, but it's often part of the job. 3) Sometimes I followed up in writing. Sometimes I did not. Not every aspect of the attorney-client relationship requires written follow-up with the client. 4) I did talk over this client a few times. I am not free to explain in detail why I found this necessary. 5) I'm no tech guru. but I work just fine with basic technology. I prefer not to use text messages with clients and I prefer stand-alone emailed attachments to clients sending me zip drives. I hope that's OK with you. If not, no hard feelings. And, if you're old school, I have a fax. 6) At the time I told this client I was not going to the hearing, I was no longer under any obligation to attend the hearing. And the client had not originally hired me for the purpose of representing them at this hearing. 7) I did indeed disengage from this client.

Best Initial Consultation Ever!

Jacob is a thoughtful lawyer; one that is not afraid to give you proper and fully detailed initial legal consultation. I contacted many lawyers seeking consultation. I can't tell you enough how so many of them provided nothing but air or were simply afraid to give away their services for free. Jac...ob was honest, straight-up, and very thorough in his explanations and legal services. He took the time to answer all my questions and concerns and help me understand my legal options, what's required, and the probability of outcome. If you are in need of a labor lawyer for consultation or hire, Jacob is the one! I have no doubt after my consultation that he would have represented me better than anyone could have. I strongly recommend Jacob.

Client

Jacob was an absolutely amazing attorney. He provided great advice even when it wasn't in his best interest, financially. One thing that I truly appreciated was his work ethic and excellent communication skills. He never just "disappeared." Jacob completed and mailed out my letter of demand within th...e same week that he accepted my case... returned my phone calls and e-mails, expediently... followed through with any counter offers, immediately... and was, over-all, well versed in his field. I also appreciated his willingness to answer all my questions and assist me with my EDD Appeal (which I won with his guidance). It is never "fun" to be in litigation with a former employee but he made the entire process as painless as possible. He is very honest and gave me the feeling that he really loves his profession. If you are searching for an employment attorney, I would DEFINITELY recommended that your hire Jacob Sider... :)

Short and Sweet! Helpful and Honest Lawyer!

I called Jacob about a claim against an old employer who still owes me money, although he was not interested in taking my case he was very generous to spend over 15 minutes with me on the phone, not only giving legal advice but also letting me know what to watch out for with other attorneys etc. I fe...lt he was honest and fair and gave me the ups and downs of all my options. I did not have extensive experience with him, but from the short time I did talk to him, I would recommend his services.

Gladiator for the Employee!

I was referred to Jacob by another firm that only took larger cases. I was reeling from just having been unexpectedly fired from a job of 3 1/2 years. Loyalty, sacrifice, and hard work means nothing to some companies as they neglect the legal labor requirements for their employees. My first conversa...tion with Jacob helped me sort out the facts of my case and he quickly versed me on all of the labor laws that were broken. I felt comfortable and empowered to stand up for myself with an attorney who was both experienced and confident. Although I was reassured that he would do the best possible job, Jacob always made it clear that all decisions to go forward with any option were mine and he patiently described realistic outcomes of each. He communicated with me by phone or email almost daily until the day of our meeting with the Labor Commissioner. I had not met him until that day but his easy style made me confident that we would present my case well. During the meeting, Jacob cited facts to answer the defendant's attempts to discredit me. Needless to say, we walked away winning my case and I felt vindicated for standing up to my former employer. I will forever be in Jacob's graces for allowing me to feel victory....the money was not the end goal, the principle of being the first person to call this employer out on their smug practices would have been enough. However, winning my case has allowed me to put this sour chapter behind me and enables me to look back smiling!
