For real?

I was referred to him and immediately felt like I was being interrogated. Even when I would answer the questions he asked, he would interrupt me and tell me I was not answering the question. Basically right away he got belligerent for no reason (yelling "Ma'am, just answer the question! Yes or no!").... I'm sure he's great at examining and arguing against whoever he's suing but he is terrible at client-side. I had to hang up as he was increasingly interrupting and yelling at me belligerently to answer his questions (while I was...). Of course, whether someone is "yelling" is subjective, but to be clear, my definition of "yelling" is raising one’s voice higher than the volume at the start of a conversation, speaking more curtly/quickly, and cutting the other speaker off. He was doing just that. So, by my definition, he was yelling. Our conversation was less than 5 minutes and that was all I could handle. I'd suggest that he find someone else to deal with the clients and just stick to arguing with the other party; he seems very good at that (reason for the extra star despite my poor experience), but I already suffered enough being harassed by my employer, I don't need it from my lawyer either, and the fact that he can't seem to separate his client from his opponent in his style gives me concerns for his professionalism and ability to self-manage in a variety of areas, as it comes off as unhinged in this context. I of course did not have him represent me. As I categorized my review, this was a consultation call. Again, I would like to give the fair and helpful suggestion that he find someone else to help with the client side, and note that I gave him an extra star despite his behaviour towards me because he was clearly determined to argue, which is a skill a lawyer needs in the correct context, and fair enough, but this was not the correct context for that behaviour.

THIS NOT A CLIENT REVIEW. As this person states, they spoke to me on the phone for less than 5 minutes. This review is like a Yelp review posted by someone who never actually ate in the restaurant, because they stormed out in anger when the busboy didn't bring their water fast enough. I did not yell at this person - that is a lie. What I did do was to try to steer the caller toward providing me the information I required in order to give them an informed consultation. If I rubbed them the wrong way in the process, that is unfortunate. I have a fairly direct style of communication, which not everyone likes. I think it's best that this person did not become my client. If you're curious to know what my actual clients have to say about me, please read the other reviews here. Thanks.

A rigid thinker and does not try very hard

I had a consultation and briefly hired Jacob, but I found that he had rigidly held beliefs and spoke patronizingly to me even though I have also attended a good law school. I had an employment issue, and he didn't try very hard to see my point of view or find legal basis to support my case. ("I know ...the law better than you do!") He didn't seem to be in my corner or to show the promise of "zealous representation." He snapped up my case on the first phone call but later backed off on what he promised to do. I found a couple other lawyers who were fully in my corner and followed through with all the issues in the case, so I broke off with Sider and hired one of them instead.

This client did not like me. Not all my clients are going to like me. So the parts of this review that amount to 'I did not like him' are true. Some of the other things written here are false. It's important that I listen carefully to my clients, but I am not going to agree with all my clients all of the time. This client reacted very poorly to my not seeing eye-to-eye with them. I hope that their next lawyer was a better fit.
