I wish I had never hired Will Bruzzo

I hired Will Bruzzo to defend me on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, terrorist threats and brandishing a deadly weapon. Every attorney should do his or her best to represent the client. Someone needs to tell Will Bruzzo this, because he seemed to be doing his best to represent the prosecution.... His attitude and demeanor toward me was hostile and rude. He did not answer any of my questions. During the first round of hearings I asked Will Bruzzo what the prosecutor was offering, and he refused to tell me. I told him that I would be willing to plead guilty to a misdemeanor if the sentence were two years or less. Will Bruzzo told me that I was an idiot, and said that I was stupid for considering jail time. He told me that because I am a “white boy” I would be raped and beaten in jail. I am a Marine Corps veteran, well worked-out at 200lbs, and I do not look like or behave like a victim, nor am I afraid of jail. I got along fine with the other inmates when I was in jail, and told him so. What I didn’t want was a felony conviction because I would forever lose my rights including my right to bear arms, but he still refused to answer my question or consider my feelings on the matter. My right to bear arms is important to me, even more so than to other veterans and American citizens because my stepson owns a chain of gun stores, and was about to hire me to manage one of them. When the court learned that I am a veteran, I was offered Veteran’s Treatment Court pursuant to California Penal Code Section 1170.9. Vet Court sounded like a great option to me because I could plead guilty to the charges and still avoid jail time, and upon completion of the program all charges are dismissed. I had to discuss it with Will first because Vet Court only takes veterans whose crimes are related in some way to their service. I have PTSD and told Will about the events which occurred during my enlistment that led to my PTSD. Will didn’t believe anything that I said, calling me a liar and telling me that I sounded as if I was “detached from reality.” Thank God Judge Perez, Judge Lindley and the Vet Court team didn’t rely on Will’s opinion! I explained to the Vet Court team what happened to me when I was in the service, and they did a bit of research and confirmed that I was telling the truth. I pled into Vet Court and entered their treatment program. Even though I am happy to be a part of the Vet Court program, it upsets me that I had to plead guilty to all charges. I am now a convicted felon. Even though the charges will be dismissed, the law specifically states that I will never again be allowed to possess a weapon. I can’t even carry a knife. If Will Bruzzo had done his job and helped me get a deal for a misdemeanor, that wouldn’t have happened and I would still have my rights. Once the hearings were over and I was accepted into the Veterans Court program, Will Bruzzo approached me with a testimonial he had written (written as if I had written it) that he wanted to put on the Internet. That testimonial made it sound as if Will had saved me from some horrible fate. It was dishonest, and so I told him that I didn’t feel comfortable signing it or letting him use it. He once again became verbally abusive, telling me that I had “buyer’s remorse.” He flung a few insults at me, and I ignored him. I was just happy to finally be rid of Will Bruzzo. I cannot in good conscience recommend Will Bruzzo as an attorney for anyone who has been charged with a crime. He is verbally abusive to his client. He refuses to answer any questions, choosing instead to fling insults and verbally berate you into complying with his wishes. He writes his own testimonials to make himself sound good. You would be better off with a public defender.

There was overwhelming evidence against this client. Despite the serious charges he was not sentenced to one day in jail. If he complies with the program he is in, the charges will be dismissed. All in all it was a great deal. The Client even signed a testimonial attesting to the great result. I am probably the only attorney in town who could have gotten him this result. In my line of work you deal with many people like this individual who are always going to complain. Comes with the territory.

You’ll regret hiring him!

I was accused of a charge and hired William Bruzzo while the charge wasn't even filed, hoping he would put some effort to get the charge dropped before it gets filed. He required me to pay a big chunk of money as his entire fee all in advance. Then he disappeared on me for few months. I did not hear ...anything about the status of the charge and he never once did anything to prevent the charge to be filed. After the charge was filed, he couldn’t even remember my name! After refreshing his memory that who I’m and what is the charge that I hired him for, he never challenged my case, never even tried to work on the case, he agreed with whatever the DA said, he was not listening to me and didn’t believe me. He wasn't even talking to me for several months...when I spoke to him about my concerns, he became abusive and hostile towards me. He kept asking me to agree with what the DA wanted as the outcome of the case and he was not willing to fight the case and even try to fight it. At that point it was clear to me that hiring him as my Defense Attorney was a big mistake and I knew that if I let him to handle my case any longer, he would mess up my life by getting the worst outcome. I couldn't let that happen and couldn't tolerate his hostile and rude demeanor towards me. So I FIRED William Bruzzo. Then I hired a competent, ethical zealous attorney who could manage to dismiss the charge. During the time that I was interviewing other attorneys , I heard from some of them that I wasn't the only one who has that kind of experience with William Bruzzo and has been treated that way by him .I don't recommend William Bruzzo, even to my worst enemy. You’ll be a fool if you hire him as your attorney!

Amazing Work!

I found Will after I searched the internet for an attorney that specializes or has had experience in factual innocence motions. Even though my previous attorneys told me that it was virtually impossible to get this motion granted, Will proved them wrong. Not only was he responsive when I needed to re...ach him, but he also stayed on top of my case, even though there were time constraints involved with my professional life tied to this case. I highly recommend him for anyone who is in need of an attorney, especially if you need one who can help in getting your arrest record sealed and destroyed. He has been a huge help.

Case dismissed

I was originally arrested for 2 felonies and 2 misdemeanors. Will acted quickly and got the case filed as two misdemeanors, no felonies: a great start! He compiled letters of recommendation and previous performance reviews from my employer and built a solid package to present to the DA. With material...s in hand and a convincing personality, Will persuaded the DA to dismiss the case altogether after I completed some community service. I now have nothing on my record and have been given a second chance thanks to Will.

Excellent Attorney, Highly Recommendable

Mr Will Bruzzo, is a wonderful attorney , and on the very first meeting, I knew I wanted to hire him. He is not judgmental and absolutely removes ones fears and anxiety through the process. He is very proactive in the case and on top of the game, that is the reason he got my charges totally DROPPED .... I was charged for Petty Theft ( Penal Code 484-488)and had admitted to the crime to the police. A conviction or rather a dismissed case would have had a negative impact on my future and especially for my immigration and naturalization purposes. Mr Will, got in touch with the store manager (who got sympathetic to my situation later) and convinced him to tell the DA that he did not wish to pursue the charges. The DA then agreed not to file charges, if i made a donation to a charity . Thus after doing so , the charges were NOT EVEN FILED - this means I never had a formal complaint brought against me and i never had to go to court. That is exactly what one wishes for and for that reason i totally recommend mr Will Bruzzo for any petty theft and criminal matters. His familiarity with the Courts and District Attorney office in Orange county can get one excellent results. He communicates and responds in timely manner and will keep you informed about everything making you always feel you are in safe hands.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
