Consummate Professional Lawyer
I went, almost literally, from jail to the offices of Corrigan, Welbourn & Stokke. After my arrest, my world changed entirely. If you are reading this review, you already understand the confusion and the fear that color the entire experience of a legal conflict. From the moment my family and I met Al Stokke, we felt better able to face the situation. The year-and-a-half that followed, during which time Ed Welbourn took the lead in managing my case, provided a stunningly enlightening experience. My ignorance of the law left me with very few tools for facing the charges against me, but thanks to Ed, Al, and Kate Corrigan, I never felt alone in that struggle. Ed Welbourn is a gladiator. He’s smart, savvy, and incredibly capable. In my experience, he understands both offense and defense well enough to make the right call about when to use each—and when to just sit quietly and wait. Ed provided guidance and counsel when I needed them, and he did so with what has always proven to be a genuine honesty. He is a model of professionalism, and I am thankful that he oversaw my case. Al and Kate were invaluable supports as well—and I will never forget either the competent experience Al brought to our first and our last meeting at CWS or the tough cleverness that characterized every interaction I ever saw Kate have in court—but Ed saw my wife and I through some of the hardest moments in our lives. If you hire Ed, don’t expect an ambulance chaser. Ed isn’t a TV lawyer; he’s the real thing. He never once did anything surprising, because he always acted according to a well thought-out strategy that he had taken time to consider and to share with us and with the team in his office. There were no plot twists in my case, and that’s just how I would have wanted it. My arrest was plot twist enough. Ed’s determined, careful, predictable support was what I needed to come through. I’m glad I had it; I’m glad I still have it.

Miracles are possible
My son was accused of crimes that could have put him in prison for the same number of years he had lived. For nearly four years we lived with a monstrous fear and burden to prove his innocence. Without Ed's expertise and amazing professionalism I know the outcome could have been very different. The case was a difficult one full of gambles as it went to jury. Ed's expertise in delivering what the jury needed to understand and his keen understanding of who and what should be presented rewarded us with a total win. Two felony charges and eight lower included charges evaporated in front of us. Hearing the words "not guilty" over and over again was the best miracle from the amazing result of Ed's fine work. He will always be our family's hero.

Thankful Client
Edward was great! He handled my case with the utmost professionalism and speed. This was my first experience with the law and I was extremely anxious. Ed took all anxiety away. He thoroughly listened to my situation and advised me of all my options. He got my case dismissed in weeks. I would highly recommend him.

Excellent Defense Attorney
Ed Welbourn was an amazing attorney. He has a wide network in the the Judicial System and new exactly what he was doing and gave me the best possible outcome of my felony case. I thought I was going to be in big trouble but since he used to be a District attorney he used his experience and networks to get me a deal that I wanted. He's the best of the best and I'm glad he was my lawyer.

Thanks to Ed, I Have My Life Back
There are very few lawyers like Ed Welbourn. My family and I have known Ed for 10 years. I first met Ed when my family was helping me find representation for a lewd offense I committed at the age of 13/14. Here are some of the things Ed did for me over the years: 1. Ed successfully downgraded my court case from adult to juvenile court, even though I was a 20-year-old at the time of the court proceedings. 2. Ed helped me accept a plea deal that spared me from having to register as a sex offender, and with his help, I was able to serve my 73 days in Juvenile Hall instead of Orange County Jail. 3. In the years following my felony adjudication, Ed has always been at my side, helping me fight to get my juvenile record sealed and destroyed. Three weeks ago, in March 2017, my petition to seal and destroy my juvenile record was granted. In my estimation, Ed has a few rare qualities, qualities that only the best of lawyers have. Ed is highly professional. He is well-prepared for court proceedings. His courtroom presence is unmatched, and it is VERY obvious the caliber of lawyering he provides when he is in a room full of other attorneys. I don't know what my life would look like had I not had Ed Welbourn as my attorney for the past ten years. But I do know that the amazing life I have today is, in great part, due to the tireless/super-professional/compassionate/amazing work Ed has put forth for my family and I. Also important was how Ed treated me over the years. When I first met Ed, I was a lost and sick boy who could not fully appreciate what it meant to have Ed Welbourn as my attorney. But no matter how immature I acted, and no matter how badly my state was, Ed ALWAYS treated me with respect and level of dignity many people find difficult to afford someone like me who was charge with a sex crime. Ed Welbourn helped save my life. Thanks to his services, I feel so Free today. Many attorneys have areas of expertise or limit themselves to certain types of legal representation. But no matter what the circumstances, I believe Ed is one of the most qualified lawyers in California. There is no one better to represent me, and I trust him completely.

Couldn't ask for a better attorney
Ed was very helpful to me and my family through out the entire three year process of my criminal case. He is organized, easy to contact, and was very comforting through a difficult process. It always seemed he fought for my best interests and was excellent at defending my rights in court. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of counsel.

Ed Welbourne is the first call, the only call!
I hired Ed Welbourn to handle a multiple theft case with a felony attached to it, for a family member about seven years ago. A Detective who had worked previously for the Newport Beach Police Department recommended him to me. The former detective told me that if he had a family member in trouble then his first call would be to Ed Welbourn. Frankly, this was all that I needed to hear. Ed handled the case professionally. He was able to negotiate a reduction in the charges, and the record was expunged. Moving ahead four years, the brother of a friend of mine was charged with a sex crime. Who did I recommend to them? Ed Welbourne. Once again, he handled their case professionally. After Ed’s investigation and analysis of the facts in the case, Ed was able to have the charges reduced and his record cleared at the conclusion of the case. Recently, I needed to return to Ed Welbourn to handle a multiple theft case for a different family member. Was I embarrassed to contact him a second time for a family member? Absolutely. Did he make me feel embarrassed? Absolutely not. Needless to say, Ed Welbourn stepped up again an obtained a successful outcome for us. Ed has stepped up to the plate three times and each time he hit it out of the park! Thank you Ed!

A greatful father
My 16 year-old child was accused of a felony assault with battery charge. Ed Welbourn was referred to me and I could not be more pleased with his services or more thankful to the attorney that referred him to us. Ed was very respectful and took the time to explain the nature of the charges and court process from the very beginning. He was thoughtful about the amount of communication with us leading up to the trial. The trial is where Ed's true talent and preparation really shined. He KNEW THE CASE and all the FACTS. His demeanor was very confident and knowledgeable, yet not arrogant and off-putting. I truly felt like I had the best representation that my child could have had regardless as to how the judged ruled. I am so thankful that I had such a competent and hardworking defense attorney protecting my child when EXPERTISE really made a difference. I am certain we will never need his services again, but I would recommend Ed Welbourn to any of my friends, family or collages if they were unfortunate enough to need a defense attorney. I am truly a great full parent with restored faith in the judiciary system.

Excellent Experience
Ed Welbourn, and everyone at CWS Defense, helped mitigate an unfortunate legal situation with professionalism every step of the way. From my first consultation, I felt comfortable and confident that I was in great hands. He was able to get my 647(f) dismissed by the court at my arraignment.

Consummate professional
Mr. Welbourn provided excellent representation in a compassionate and caring manner. In addition to his thorough knowledge of the legal issues, Mr. Welbourn's positive professional relationships with Judges, prosecutors, and others in the legal community I believe proved invaluable in helping resolve the case. The legal process is frightening and the stress is unbelievable but Mr. Welbourn was always quick to respond to emails or texts answering questions and assuaging concerns. I hope never to have to retain criminal defense counsel again but, should that need ever arise, I would definitely hire Mr. Welbourn.

Human First, Professional Throughout
Ed Wellbourn saved our son -- and our family. For four years he has helped prepare a meticulous case to defend our 23-year-old son against two felonies and associated lesser charges that would have put him in California State Prison for 21 years. Understandably we all were distraught and confused. Mr. Welbourne took the time to approach our case from a human perspective, whilst always highly professional. He gave us hope that things would get better, and during the difficult court case he provided us faith in the judicial system that things WERE going to get better. Our son was found Not Guilt on all ten charges, by unanimous verdict of a jury that deliberated just 22 minutes. Trust Ed Wellbourne and his entire team to give their complete and honest attention to every detail and how to best present the information in a way easy for everyone to understand.

2 Felony charges
Before hiring Mr. Welbourn I was extremely nervous and concerned about the severity of my case. I was charged with assault with bodily harm and possession of illegal firearm magazines, both felony charges. After meeting Mr. Welbourn and discussing my case I became more confident and calm regarding my legal matters. He handled my case very professionally and was always friendly and understanding. His experience and confidence as an attorney showed while in court for he always knew what to do and was never unsure how to handle certian matters. In the end he helped get my magazine charges completely dropped and the assault charge was brought down to a misdemeanor. I was left with some fines, a small amount of community service and informal probation. Extremely pleased with my case outcome and the work Mr. Welbourn put in; I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking criminal legal representation.

My Misdemeanor Case!
Ed Welbourn is the sixth attorney I hired in January of 2016 to assist me to deal with my misdemeanor case that has been suffocating my life to the limit for being on a "Formal Probation". I had to deal with five (5) previous uncaring and incompetent attorneys that I fired. When I met Ed in his office, he looked at my case through internet on his cell and within 30 minutes he discovered the mistake my previous attorney had made. He confirmed his discovery with another senior attorney in his office and I never forget our conversation for rest of my life and I quote" He said what is your wish?". Naturally, I responded by saying, "I would like to get off this 'Formal Probation"!. Honestly, , I was not sure this is another empty promise by another attorney similar to previous five (5) attorneys I had, but he actually showed me his law book that spelled out maximum penalty for my misdemeanor offense. However, my gut feeling was telling me this attorney may be different than all previous attorneys I had. So, I felt comfortable to give him my blessing to move forward with it. The following week, after he spoke to judge about the flaw in my case, we appeared in court and subject judge ruled my "Formal probation" which had 2.50 years remaining will be terminated on March 7, 2016. I can not describe how relieved and elated I am. After, all the pains and traumas I endured in the past 1.50 year which by far were toughest time of my life, courtesy of probation department, it feels like surreal. I wondered whether this was really happening. I will be a free man and can live a normal life which probation deprived me of. Now, I have great appreciation for simplest thing in life we always take for granted. I know one thing for certain. My freedom wouldn't have been possible without My attorney, Ed Welbourn's intelligence and follow through. As I told him several time, I am indebted to him for rest of my life. I mean this from bottom of my heart. Ed Welbourn is a breath of fresh air in a legal system that is filled with attorneys that are mostly concerned about their bank account balance than welfare of their clients. I will highly recommend Ed Welbourn to anyone who may have need for legal assistant.

Ed was beyond helpful and easy to work with, made my case a little less stressful and created a sense of peace when the actual court date took place. 10 for 10 would recommend to anyone willing to go above and beyond with his help.
