Harris did an exceptional job of handling my divorce. In searching for a divorce attorney I specifically needed someone who understood the military and the uniqueness of a military divorce. At all times Harris exceeded my expectations in this regard. He listened to my concerns and always provided realistic and practical advice. His preparation is outstanding, and his attention to detail is unsurpassed. The quality of his work can be measured by how quickly my case proceeded and the swiftness with which the court processed the judgment. Great lawyers deliver and Harris did just that for me.

If you're going through divorce in California, ESPECIALLY if you're military, Harris Brumer is your guy, hands down.
One of my fellow Navy friends who was very well taken care of by Harris referred me to him, and I couldn't be happier.
He's a West Point graduate and former Army Intel Officer, so not only does he understand you in terms of the military (TriCare, DFAS, pension, etc.), he understands what you're going through, because he's been there, too.
He has a small, personalized practice, so you'll never feel like just another case number. He has a sincere and vested interest in you, so he'll make sure you won't be taken advantage of by your soon-to-be ex and the Family Court system, which we all know to be horribly biased against husbands and fathers. Not only that, but his retainer and rates are quite reasonable.
I cannot possibly recommend Harris strongly enough.
HIRE THIS GUY.

I represented myself until the day of court. Mr. Brumer accepted my case although he only had a little over a month to prepare for the court date due to timeframe I began seeking representation. He is diligent, efficient, and tenacious from beginning to end. Mr. Brumer knew the pertinent information needed to submit and discuss in court to effectively win my case. I am the Father in this case and I do not live in California. I was awarded physical custody of my son and he now lives with me in Nevada. His fees are reasonable and he does not unnecessarily perform duties/tasks to charge to the client. Mr. Brumer responds promptly, never exceeding more than 24 hours, to any questions, comments, or concerns. Mr. Brumer treated all parties involved with respect.

First and foremost, any legal matter isn't going to be consulted, tried, and resolved over-night. This is gonna take a lot of patience on the clients end, in all honesty. I can assure you, your patience will be tested. With that said, I want to offer my greatest thanks to the Law Office of Harris Brumer.
I did hire him as my legal representation, and I will also add he wasn't the first I went too. My suggestion, don't always go for the first lawyer you consult with. Now, though Harris wasn't the first lawyer I consulted with, he was the one I went with because of his approach to legal matters. If you want a lawyer that has paralegals below them to do all the leg work, be the one speaking to you directly, and the only time you actually see the lawyer is in the courtroom...this isn't your office. Harris does all the leg work, responds to your emails and calls directly and of course is the one that shows up in the courtroom. I live in Riverside county, so and the hearing was in Hemet (a good 2hours away from San Diego) the court hearing was 8am...he was at the courthouse before myself, and he resides in San Diego. My case was a fairly easy one compared to what I've heard (not all are btw). You can trust he will get the job done in the shortest time "legally" possible (again doesn't happen over night). But he's aggressive, he gets it done and he will make sure everything is done RIGHT. Which brings me to professional...I'm not going to lie and say, you wont find a more professional lawyer out there...but I will at least say he is. How he carries himself, how he speaks to you and how he acts in the courtroom. I've already addressed communication. Harris really is your "ideal" lawyer...maybe even deputy DA someday, ideal.
The point is, he took my case though it took a lot of leg work because the mom lives in LA County and I'm in Riverside County...finding her was one thing, getting her served was another, and even making sure she shows up is another. But in the end it was all done; professionally, accurately, thorough, and successfully in the end. Though these type of cases are typically ongoing, the initial phase was done successfully and he won my case...I would recommend him to ANYONE, and I do...i have over 1200 people (friends and acquaintances) on my social media account...if any of them asks for a good lawyer for themselves or someone they know...I tell them let me recommend an ideal lawyer. I do plan on keeping him in contact for any other issues regarding my case, because I'm not going to lie to you...no case is really open and shut, if it involves two people, you'll always have 2 different opinions and Harris is the one your gonna want to fight for you if your opinions are different. Thank You for EVERYTHING!!

I was considering filing for BK, after researching Attorneys on Avvo I decided to consult Harris. After discussing my facts he provided me with options that I was not aware of and recommended that I not file. Great guy, excellent attorney and I highly recommend him for your legal needs.

Harris was one of several lawyers I consulted with a couple of years ago. I needed some help with my custody case, he was honest in letting me know that it wasn't a good time to fight the existing ruling as we'd just gone to mediation and court weeks prior. He suggested that I wait at least 6 months and gave me some pointers to help me increase my chances for a favorable outcome in the future. When I was ready to go back to court, he met with me for another free consultation to discuss the case, what he would do, and to explain his fees which I found to be incredibly reasonable. Long story short, I now have primary custody of my daughter and I strongly believe that it is in large part due to me being represented by Harris.

I sought out an attorney to be sure my interests were protected with my divorce. I came across Harris on AVVO, and based on the reviews I had read from his other clients, I decided to reach out. Harris was very good at getting back to me in a timely manner and working with my schedule on a couple of occasions to allow for prompt completion of all necessary paperwork. Harris was personable, efficient and down to earth, and I also appreciated his attention to detail. I would refer friends and family to him.

After much thought I decided to file for a chapter 7 BK. After going to a big name BK law center I felt disconnected from the paralegal assigned to me and decided to look elsewhere for representation. A friend recommended Harris to me and I'm glad she did. Harris was very helpful, easy to talk to and explained everything very well. Paper work was simple and straightforward and If I had a quick question through email he would always respond almost right away. He has helped me move on to the next chapter in my life and I am thankful for his services.

While helping a friend with a conservatorship matter I
unexpectedly received a Temporary Restraining Order.
Shocked would be an understatement. My probate
attorney recommended Harris Brumer and I'm glad she
Mr. Brumer is a Family Law attorney and seeks restraining
orders as well as defends against them. Which means he
knows what needs to be said so the judge can under-
stand the issues clearly. You do not want to do this your-
self even though the urge is overwhelming to tell the
The Temporary Restraining Order was dissolved and the
Permanent Restraining Order was denied in its entirety.
I attribute this to my attorney admonishing me to speak
only when he said to speak and his written pleadings
on my behalf.
He made it crystal clear that this issue was not what it
appeared to be and made it possible for the judge to
make a fair decision in the least confusing manner
I highly recommend Harris Brumer for anyone needing
help in this very specialized area of Family Law.

When I first obtained Mr. Brumer he was upfront and to the point about his philosophy and what I could expect and what he expects from me. I told him that I had some financial issues I was dealing with prior to accepting him in November 2015 and he understood my needs and issues. I had to attend a phone teleconference because I obtained him just days before my court appearance which was an MSC that he set me up with. Soon after that he was able to obtain my files from my previous Lawyers whom happen to be too expensive for me to obtain them leading me to seek out Mr. Brumer. Once he had a chance to review my case he was able to see where and what he needed to do to get through this Divorce of 9 years and 1 month with my ex wife. As another MSC date had been ordered, Mr. Brumer again stood in for me and later followed up with me as to what we needed to do prior to our court appearance where both parties needed to be present for. I provided most if not all or more of the forms and or information he was asking for. Upon our trial 18May2016 we went into the courtroom and was given our time outside the courtroom to discuss our final ruling between both parties and with every decision Mr. Brumer consulted me before making anything final to ensure I was ok and agree with the pleas which allowed me to feel comfortable with Mr. Brumer at the helm of my decision's and Divorce case. I would definitely recommend Mr. Brumer to anybody going through similar situations such as what I experienced with Mr. Brumer. A professionally dedicated Lawyer with passion about his job for his clients. That's what professionalism is to me. It was an honor to be a client of Mr. Brumer's.
