Outstanding Experience

I know that there is a stigma that goes with dealing with an attorney. Evan really made me personally rethink that lawyers conduct their business with their clients. Evan was easily reachable and prompt in returning calls. I never felt cheated, talked down to or improperly billed and when it came to ...doing what he said he would, Evan overdelievered. Evan dealt with the issues that I did not want to be consumed with. He cared about me and my family. And when the case settled, not only did I feel good about the outcome, I felt even better about the way my case was handled.

Thorough and throughtful

Evan navigated me through the construction of a premarital agreement. When I hired Evan, I asked him to provide me with an enforceable premarital agreement that clearly portrayed my intentions regarding our marital/personal property and was enforceable. He effectively provided that, but in addition... helped me understand more clearly exactly what I wanted in the agreement and the consequences thereof. He was not just a "yes man," but made sure I fully understood what I wanted. This resulted in a stronger agreement than I expected, and I am grateful for Evan's diligence. In short, Evan helped me clarify what I wanted and then made that into a strong, enforceable document. Evan also worked on a very tight timeline. This was entirely my fault; I came to him late in the game. Nevertheless, Evan still prepared my document with great care. I of course recommend starting earlier than I did, and am extra grateful for Evan's fast turnaround time.

Poor recollection, poor advocate, disorganized

I hired Evan for help with a custody dispute. He frequently forgot important relevant facts of the case. After one hearing I asked why he didn't bring up something I imagined to be pertinent and impactful, he acted like he had never heard the information before although I had emphasized the informati...on more than once. He laid out what was to be accomplished in each billing period, as he is fixed fee. He did not accomplish most things on schedule, but still expected his fee. He asked that I link him in to the Our Family Wizard communication thread with the child's mother. Then berated me for thinking he would ever have time to read any of it. It is a process to link someone in that I only figured out how to do because he asked me to. A rivision of child support was linked into the custody dispute. I just wanted to have a fair outcome since I had opened the case for custody violation. He made no effort to correct the judge when my income was erroneously taken to be twice real income (it happened the month they considered included all of my covid stimulus payments. So my support was based on the assumption I receive 3 covid stimulus payments every month in addition to normal wages.) His forgetfulness both in and out of court, failure to execute with punctuality, and failure to focus on what was important to me all resulted in a regrettable experience. I did end up with joint legal and physical custody enforced, but that was because there was no reason for the judge not to. The custody ruling was not due to Evans work. He did know how to file items and evidence with the court appropriately, which I hear not all attorneys do. But that is a low bar for what you pay. My childs mother is still relentles but my new attorney has handled all newly arising issues with ease for nearly 2 years now.
