Seth A Grob

I would strongly recommend Seth Grob for anyone in the adoption process. We initially met with him to determine what type of adoption would be right for us. He provided us with valuable and useful information while we were making the decision on the best way for us to create our family. After we deci...ded on domestic infant adoption, he helped us find a great agency and assisted us in any and all manner of questions that arose along the way. After the birth of our son, we had an issue with the insurance agency that he swiftly addressed with them. It was corrected immediately and saved us a ton of work and effort that would have taken away from valuable bonding time with our new addition. As we sought to adopt a second time, he was with us every step of the way, through 2 unsuccessful matches until we ultimately were able to adopt our daughter. He also was able to petition the courts to expedite our finalization as we had circumstances that required us to move out of state as soon as possible. His negotiations with our agency saved us time and money along the way and I am very happy that we retained his services throughout both of our adoptions. I am sure that it is possible to adopt through an agency without retaining separate counsel but our process was immeasurably easier with Mr. Grob's knowledge & expertise as well as support when things were chaotic.

I did not care for Seth's manner and feel he was bilittling and condescending. He professed to be an expert but would not take the time to explain or answer questions for us. In the end, we found out that the advice he'd given us was not correct and we hired another lawyer. He charged us over $400... for a few emails and condescention. When asked to refund the money his response was no, and he referred to the amount we paid as "very little". Regardless of whether we disagreed with him or not, he did not give us a feeling that he was well informed about our situation or that he cared much more about anything than getting the check. Luckily for us, we moved on to someone we feel was better suited to meet our needs.

Seth helped us with both of our adoptions. He is extremely knowledgable about adoption law. He was always available to us to answer a question, explain a process, and ensure everything ran smoothly (which it did). He has many contacts through his membership in the AAAA (American Association of Adopt...ion Attorneys) who helped us with both of our out of state adoptions. We have highly recommended Seth to friends who are considering adoption. We found his fees to be reasonable and his expertise priceless.

I contacted Seth because I have an unusual parenting situation and I wanted to be sure that the mother, the child, and I are all protected and clear under Colorado Law. Seth - who repeated told me he is an expert and specialist in this field - told me that he would represent me and estimated my ...legal costs would be $2400-$3000 dollars. He told me that the mother would need to get her own lawyer and her costs would be $700-$1000. At this point I told him that the mother and I are working very closely and amicably in this, and I specifically asked if there was any other approach to making sure our situation was properly recorded with the state of Colorado. Seth said no. There was no other approach. Today - 2 days later - I went on line and it took me 30 minutes to find out that the state has a ready-made form to clarify EXACTLY the situation that we have. All we need is an Acknowledgement of Paternity (AOP). It's already drawn up and approved by the state. It will take us 5 minutes. We will file it for free. Seth wanted to charge me 8-10 hours of billable time at $290/hr to create from scratch a form that the state has already created and provides to everyone for free! I will be investigating whether this attempt to mislead us and take thousands of dollars for a free-service from the state constitutes a severe ethical transgression. It seems to me that it does. In the meantime, I recommend you stay away from this misleading man.
