Seth A Grob

I did not care for Seth's manner and feel he was bilittling and condescending. He professed to be an expert but would not take the time to explain or answer questions for us. In the end, we found out that the advice he'd given us was not correct and we hired another lawyer. He charged us over $400... for a few emails and condescention. When asked to refund the money his response was no, and he referred to the amount we paid as "very little". Regardless of whether we disagreed with him or not, he did not give us a feeling that he was well informed about our situation or that he cared much more about anything than getting the check. Luckily for us, we moved on to someone we feel was better suited to meet our needs.

I contacted Seth because I have an unusual parenting situation and I wanted to be sure that the mother, the child, and I are all protected and clear under Colorado Law. Seth - who repeated told me he is an expert and specialist in this field - told me that he would represent me and estimated my ...legal costs would be $2400-$3000 dollars. He told me that the mother would need to get her own lawyer and her costs would be $700-$1000. At this point I told him that the mother and I are working very closely and amicably in this, and I specifically asked if there was any other approach to making sure our situation was properly recorded with the state of Colorado. Seth said no. There was no other approach. Today - 2 days later - I went on line and it took me 30 minutes to find out that the state has a ready-made form to clarify EXACTLY the situation that we have. All we need is an Acknowledgement of Paternity (AOP). It's already drawn up and approved by the state. It will take us 5 minutes. We will file it for free. Seth wanted to charge me 8-10 hours of billable time at $290/hr to create from scratch a form that the state has already created and provides to everyone for free! I will be investigating whether this attempt to mislead us and take thousands of dollars for a free-service from the state constitutes a severe ethical transgression. It seems to me that it does. In the meantime, I recommend you stay away from this misleading man.
