If you are looking for a great lawyer, you found him.

I retained Mark after having a very awful experience (very costly too) with another attorney. His office is very timely, very professional and caring. My court/mediation experience went very well and I highly recommend his services. He knows his business well but is also a good Christian man. Look no... further if you need a good family lawyer.

Do not get this guy

I have been locked in a custody Battle for almost a year now. As a single father in Texas I knew my chances were slim, Mark Lane and his paralegals gave done nothing to reassure me. I only met Mr. Lane at my court appearance which he showed up to THREE HOURS LATE. And they have this nasty habit of ne...ver answering your phone calls but they still charge you $150 for calling them. Possibly the worst attorney ever, they are just out to make a buck. The only time I hear from them is when they want money but when I have a question about my case I am all alone. Don't get this guy folks.

It is very common for the layperson to mis-understand how hearings work. I show up at the courthouse and check in for multiple hearings. The client often waits extended amounts of time, but they are waiting on the judge, not the attorney. As to the issue of answering our phone calls, I give every client my personal cell phone number and my email address. Clients have access to me 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I often spend my nights and weekends answering clients questions. I'm well aware of who "Bill" is and can contest these complaints with documented responses. Unfortunately, Bill you don't always get the outcome of your case that you would like and often clients get bitter and choose to blame the attorney. They don't want to take responsibility for their own circumstances. It's a misfortunate aspect of the business I am in. God Bless.

Always there

I have been a client for almost 9 years.. that is a long time of dealing with someone. I am very pleased with my experiences and I will always hire Mark Lane when I am needing family law help. From day one, I have had Mark's cell phone and email address. I never leave messages. If I need to talk to M...ark, I email him or send a text. He is a busy man! He always gets back to me. I had an emergency on a Saturday evening; I texted. Mark called me immediately and calmed me down. First thing Monday morning, I was in Mark's office filing a protective order. I realize that I am not his only client and he isn't going to jump every time I call; but when I need him because of an emergency, I have no doubt he will be there. He has always shown up to court prepared and ready to go. I have a very high conflict situation and he has been on top of my case since the day I hired him. I will always recommend Mark to my friends.

UNRELIABLE...Nothing but a huge LETDOWN. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MARK LANE!!!!

Everything that Bill said in his review previous to mine is right on. Mark Lane showed up one time to all my hearings. I honestly believe that he should have represented my husband, alot a like. He uses God and portrays to be a Christian attorney but I will assure you that he is anything but what he ...claims. He is all talk and no show. You get no phone calls back, nothing gets done, they lie and do not follow through on anything. I was promised things that never happened and it ended up worse. Mark had the nerve to not even show up to my mediation which I was yelled at, treated horribly, and fiorced to sign against my will. Im contiplating a lawsuit against his office. Ive worked with several attorneys and Mark Lane is by far the worst nightmare. He will sure continue sending ridiculous made up fees lol!!

This review is completely untrue in every single aspect and a lawsuit is being filed against this client. We provided excellent legal services to this client at every juncture in this case and provided these services at a reduced rate. As documented in the court records, unfortunately struggled with personal issues that most courts do not approve in regards to having custody of children. As with every client, we pray that she is blessed and is able to stabilize her life in a manner that benefits her children.

Unbelieveable!

Mr. Lane represented us in 2012 in modifying child support and enforcing visitation. Twice during the course of him representing us we had filled out the grievance form with the TX state bar and ended up changing our minds because we couldn't afford to hire another attorney. We understood that Mr. L...ane would not always be able to call us back immediately, however after receiving our retainer, he NEVER returned our call. We received calls from his staff on occasion telling us that he would be calling us, or that he was in court, or out of the office. One of the times we called him was at his request per an email that we call him to set up a phone meeting to discuss our case. After calling 5 different times, we finally got a meeting set up. The first time we took off work to be available and never received a call. The second time the meeting was set up, again he did not call us. After we got tired of this treatment and sent him an email about our concerns, we received a very nasty call from his staff informing us that they did not appreciate us trying to get them in trouble, that they didn't work for us, they worked for Mr. Lane and that they had far more important cases than ours to deal with and even told us that we were not a priority on their desk. We immediately emailed Mr. Lane about this conversation which took place last summer and we NEVER heard back from him. I understand customer service. There are times when in fact you may feel that way about a client. But to say it out loud? Most people would be fired as soon as their boss heard about it. When our case was settled in September, Mr. Lane did not even show up to court. He instead sent an associate. We hired Mr. Lane in December of 2011 with a $3,500 retainer. When the temporary order was entered in April, Mr. Lane told us he was "almost embarrassed to take our money" as the case was so simple. The final order was approved by the court in September of 2012. In January of 2013, we received our first and only bill from him since giving him the retainer...and it was for almost $10,000!

Family law cases are never easy. In this particular case, the client lives out of state and the former spouse is an incredibly anger person who fired her attorney and refused to agree or cooperate with any aspect of the case. Multiple hearings had to take place that normally wouldn't be necessary. The client's signed a hourly fee agreement that clearly sets out the financial obligation of the client. The case was handled with expertise and professionalism. The real issue is the client just doesn't like paying for services rendered. Our detailed records show dozens of returned calls and text to the client. In this case, the client had Mark Lane's personal cell phone number and returned dozen of text messages and emails to the client. As in many family law cases, the non possessory parent is ordered to pay child support. Many father's are not ever happy when they have to pay. However, it is the moral and legal obligation that counts. With over 3500 cases successfully handled in 15 years of law practice , we are proud of how we handled our clients and respectfully disagree with this client.
