I was charged with 3rd offense felony OWI. He was able to work a deal to get it dropped down to a 2nd Offense - Serious Misdemeanor. I had to serve a little bit more jail time, sentenced 45 days - served 36, but NO FELONY. I was more than happy to take that deal, if I would have received the felony charge I would have had to serve a lot more days in jail AND had to report having a felony on my record while trying to search for a job. He thoroughly evaluated any angles that we could take to try to get the case dropped but it was unrealistic to think I was going to get off scott free. It boils down to this: I was driving at double the legal limit, they had me dead to rights for a 3rd offense, Tom got it down to a 2nd, I do not have a felony on my record because of him.

Consultation: Tom showed genuine concern with my matters. He described a plan of action. His information and demeanor were very reassuring.
After the Hire: Tom was professional, knowledgeable and prompt. He was very effective in his communication. I would strongly recommend Tom to anyone.

Tom came recommended to me by two other attornies who are mutual friends. They told me Tom is their "go-to guy for anything OWI". Funny, but that's really saying something in a college town.
I recall my consultation with Tom, and I recall I was still clearly shaken by the event and implications for my future. Tom was empathetic but objective while we talked about my concerns and established goals. After talking to him, I felt a great sense of relief, like I had somebody who was in my corner now who knew what they were doing.
Tom didn't disappoint. During my DOT hearing, while still professional, I was impressed by how fiercely Tom questioned the police officer. I could definitely tell he did his homework and must've pored over those police videos. I really felt he was going to bat for me.
Throughout this whole process, what really struck me was how very available Tom was for me. In all of my professional experiences, I've never had anyone more readily available to me than Tom. When I wrote an email or called his office, I had a response within minutes.
In the end, I had a good outcome from the OWI charge, largely because of Tom's high attention to detail and my particular circumstances, but even if things hadn't turned out the way they did, it was a learning experience, and I know I could say Tom did everything to advocate for me.
