Lawyers often have the reputation of just caring about taking on lots of clients and making money. Mike Kelly is the complete opposite of that. If you need someone who actually gets to know you, becomes a lawyer and consoler all at the same time, he is your man. I actually first went and got a random... overpriced lawyer, out of fear and anxiety. However, after doing some research I found the Kelly and Kelly firm, and their success stories. I was willing to lose the down payment on my first lawyer, because I had a feeling that this firm is what I needed. I will not go into detail on everything I did not wrong, but let just say my shoplifting issue was a mountain high. I went from multiple shoplifting incidents on one day, to another following the next week. As an immigrant with a great education and career, I had just put everything at risk, and the possibilities of me going to jail and being deported were almost certain. I then met Mike Kelly, who on the first day gave me tough lecture, and questioned me to the point of break. I now look back and realize that he did this to prepare me for the tough battle that was going to occur the following months. If you would have asked any other attorney, in which I did, what are the chances of me getting a resolution I need, they would say impossible, especially given the court you are in. However, Mike did not say it was impossible, just very difficult, but would require lots of work from both myself and him. I quickly began the program, and did everything and more. This included therapy, support groups, community service, online classes, among other things. This case was a long one, where the prosecutors were not willing to budge on any kind of plea-deal. Mike knew the consequences, and quickly told me "If it is a fight they want, then it is one they will get." After many months of going back and forth with the court, Mike was able to get through the prosecutors, and get a plea deal that was better than the nothing they were offering before. It took us almost going to jury trial, which Mike was willing to do, just to get to this point. Six months of hard work was needed, and Mike never gave up, instead he became stronger and more motivated each time we had to go to court. Sentencing day came, and I was so scared, given all the crimes I had committed, I had a feeling jail time was certain. However, I was wrong, Mike was able to get me a great deal with 1 year probation, and continuing the support needed to stop this from occurring again. In the end, the mountain that was never going to be climbed according to people had Mike on the top with his hand extended, helping you get to the top. Mike is more than a lawyer as his experience goes beyond his age by decades. Not many lawyers are willing to spend time to text and email you when you are having a hard day or getting ready to give up, and give you the motivation to fight this battle. In the end Mike was able to not just give me a great result in the court room, but was able to teach me what it is to be a good and honest person, and was able to safe my life.

Mike Kelly is amazing to say the least. I found myself in deep water and should have been charged with a super drunk driving ticket.. Originally I was charged with OWI. From the moment I walked in his door he put my mind at ease and started going over steps to take before my court date such as gettin...g a breathalyzer attending AA classes and a alcohol consultation. I rarely drink, and the one night I did ended up being the r worst experience of my life. I arrived at court to find Mike already talking to the defense attorney on a plea deal which was successful, and the judge approved just a driving while visibly impaired, only 9 months of non reporting probation and holiday testing. I will always know who to call if I need help (hoping I never will.) The whole staff at kely&kelly are amazing. Tiffany made me feel at ease from day one, and kept me updated on everything. Mike was extremely helpful in a trespassing case with a minor. He outlined the options, gave helpful guidance, and was able to negotiate a fair outcome with the prosecutor and judge. I made a horrible decision and got myself into a situation that resulted in arrest for a hit and run and OWI. This was the first time that I had ever been in any sort of trouble and I honestly had no idea where to begin to fix things. I live in Northville so I found Kelly & Kelly based on their locat...ion, experience with DUIs, and great ratings on Jonathan Paul's proactive program. I applied to be a client and they contacted me within an hour of submission. They were always prompt in their responses to all of my questions and were able to begin helping me almost immediately. They explained to me their approach and thoughts on my case during our initial consultation and gave me confidence that they would take care of me. I am the type of person that does not take these things lightly and really beat myself up about this stupid mistake, but Mike, Jonathan, and the secretary, Tiffany, were very straightforward with me, saying that yes, I made a mistake, but everyone makes mistakes and that they would help to make sure this did not have a detrimental impact moving forward. I immediately started attending AA meetings, volunteering, and began Soberlink twice a day to build my case that this was a one time mistake and that I understood how serious it was. Mike was willing to speak with me the week before and the night before the court date to help calm my nerves and talk me through the events that would most likely take place in court. Since I am a very organized and prepared person who has never even been inside a court room before, this helped immensely. Mike met me immediately in the hallway the morning of and again went through what would be happening in the next few hours. He went and spoke with the prosecutor and unbelievably got the hit and run completely dismissed which left me with only the OWI. He stayed with me throughout the day and also spoke with my probation officer to make sure that I was getting the appropriate probation requirements. I ended up with 9 months of non-reporting probation, 30 days restricted license, 90 days of continuing on twice a day Soberlink, and holiday testing for the remainder of the probation period. The judge also allowed me to travel out-of-state since I had been proactive in the month between the incident and the pre-trial. This result was far better than I had ever imagined or could have obtained on my own. Mike and his team really helped me through one of the hardest things in my life and I cannot thank them enough. Tiffany was also amazing and was my rock throughout this trying month. Any time I had a panic attack or questions that she had probably already heard a thousand times before, she was extremely patient with me and helped to calm my nerves. Throughout this time I was beating myself up every day telling myself how terrible a person I was, but Tiffany always reassured me that everyone makes mistakes and that this incident does not define me and that I need to look forward and use the past as a learning experience.
