Understanding, compassionate and hard working

Loren Dickstein is a great lawyer! I retained him to represent me on a felony charge in Wayne County and he work really hard on my case. I suffer from depression and things got out of control. My family gave me the money to hire an attorney and I wanted to work with the best criminal defense attorn...ey I could find. Loren was very understanding and treated me with dignity. He truly understood that I was in a really bad place and not a really bad person. He was able to tell my story in a truthful and credible way and he was able to help everyone understand. He also helped me communicate with my parents and they were better able to understand my and my charges and we have a better relationship as a result.

If your case is winnable, Loren will win it

OK, so, obviously every case is different, so keep that in mind. I can only speak to my experience. Loren represented me for a violent felony -- Assault With Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder. The maximum penalty was 10 years in prison. My argument was self defense, but I was orig...inally given a public defender who told me my case was impossible to win. The prosecutor was not even offering ANY plea deal. None, whatsoever. They were THAT confident in the case. My mother talked to Loren Dickstein, who came and visited me in Oakland County Jail and told me he could win my case. Not just get a plea deal, but actually WIN it. He comes across very serious and business-like, so I knew he wasn't just trying to be charming and telling me what I wanted to hear. So, we hired him. First, he filed a motion to reduce my bond and was able to convince the judge that I could be released on house arrest while preparing for my trial -- and the judge was hesitant at first, but Loren convinced her based on the facts of the case. Trust me, this is big. You don't want to fight a case from inside of jail. I was much better off being on house arrest. So, that was Loren's first victory against a very aggressive prosecutor. Then, about 3 weeks into my house arrest, I was late on blowing into my breathalyzer. Three different times. The prosecutor filed a motion to revoke my bond and put me back in jail. Loren prepared well for the motion, and won against the prosecutor again and kept me out on house arrest instead of back in jail. Loren's third victory for me was the trial itself. Now, you may not take your case to trial like I did, but if you do, just know that Loren is more than just "good" at trial. He is gifted. He phrases things in a way that connects with the jury, and his communication & verbal skills are extremely advanced. I am not easily impressed by people's intelligence, but I was with Loren's. After his closing argument, I wrote him an e-mail saying that I would highly recommend him even if I lost the trial. Because if I lost, it certainly wasn't gonna be because of him. But I didn't lose, obviously, because I'm writing this recommendation instead of sitting in prison with a felony record for the rest of my life. Loren won the trial and gave me a second chance at life. He is not the cheapest attorney, but he's also the best. So, that's your choice. Do you want to save money, or do you want to win? If your case is serious to you, like mine was to me, then I would recommend you do whatever is humanly possible to hire Dickstein, even if it means borrowing money. Money is temporary - it comes and goes. Your criminal record and freedom is permanent, and Loren is your best chance at winning.

Domestic Violence Charge

I was charged with domestic violence on a family member a year ago in the 48th district court in Bloomfield Hills. Having hired and worked with Loren in the past I knew I was in great hands. Even after multiple probation and bond violations he managed to keep me out of jail and keep my deferral agr...eement intact. This agreement that Loren arranged dismissed my charge after I successfully completed probation. He truly was a difference maker in my case and without him I fear I would have spent the maximum time in jail and also have this devastating scarlet letter type conviction on my public record. This would have prevented me from achieving all of my life goals in terms of my career and graduate studies. Loren is a charismatic, straight-forward, and loyal lawyer who will fight tooth and nail for your best interests no matter how far a hole you have dug yourself in. Even a very difficult judge in the 48th district court said I was very lucky to keep my deferral agreement that Loren had arranged for me intact after all of my probation violations. She had threatened to revoke my probation and max my time out in jail on countless occasions after every misstep I made during probation. I don't believe luck had anything to do with it. It was the skill and dedication of my lawyer Loren Dickstein.

Falsely Accused and Wrongfully Arrested in Troy for Retail Fraud

In 2015 I was stopped at a store at the Kohl’s in Troy, Michigan and accused of shoplifting. According to the loss prevention officer, I purposefully failed to scan an item at the u-scan. When he grabbed me and pulled me to an office in the back of the store, I tried to explain that I accidentally ...put a bag from another store on top of the item and it was just a mistake. Needless to say, he accused me of lying and was very condescending to me. He was also very rough and everyone was looking at me. A couple hours later, I was released and told that I would get a ticket in the mail or a notice from the court in Troy but nothing ever came. I assumed that the store dropped the charges because I never got a notice from the police or the court but I was pulled over for speeding a couple years later and found out that there was a warrant! Again, I never got any notice! I was arrested, humiliated and taken to jail. Another unfair injustice because I did not get any notice and I would have gone to court if someone had told me. After getting out of Oakland County jail, I started to search for a lawyer who could not just defend me and show that this was all a mistake but to also clear my name of this shoplifting offense the police called retail fraud. I did not want any record of a retail fraud that could be used against me at work or in future jobs. I hired Mr. Dickstein because he was well known in that court and he had such a good reputation on the internet. I really did not know any lawyers and called several. I asked all around and heard very good things about how he has helped other people who were in similar situations. We went to court several times and paying for a lawyer was hard to afford but I knew how important this was to me and my future. In the end, the charge was reduced from a retail fraud second offense to a charge that didn’t involve theft and one that I can get off my record in the future with an expungement motion letter. This was a very good outcome as far as I am concerned and the disturbing the peace offense is something that I did because I was so upset. I’m angry that I had to go through this terrible process over what was a mistake but I am grateful that I had such a good lawyer to help me. He is a good man and he was very helpful and understanding with me even though I am a very emotional person.
