Stress-Free Experience

Nick and his staff were prompt, friendly and accurate in everything they did. He made clear exactly what he needed from me and when I gave it to him I could sit back and relax. If I had any questions he responded within minutes or hours. My preferred method of communication was email. During my court... hearing everything there went even smoother. We were out in less than 3 minutes. I was impressed knowing how complicated my case was. I had many things that should have raised questions from the trustee but Nick did his due diligence and went over all of my info with a microscope. When the trustee reviewed it he didn't see any discrepancies or issues so he had no questions. Whereas other clients were on the stand for 10 minutes because thier lawyers forgot parts of thier case. The best part of all it felt like Nick was in my corner, which is a great feeling to have when you are up against creditors who always seem to have all the power.

Nick is there when you need help....I'm proof.

Mr. Thompson was my BK attorney back in 2008 and I was impressed with his ability to give accurate guidence when the wolf of debt was at my door back then. Well now years later an issue arised from my past with potential devastating implications....or so at least I thought. I called and he gave my i...ssue the immediate attention it needed. His plan of action was outstanding and effective! Mr. Thompson proved to me that he cares about your current problems and will be there for you in the future should trouble return.

We were able to sue the creditor back in this case. FDCPA cases are strict liability where if a client violates the code the recovery is almost guaranteed. In this case the creditor was happy to dismiss his claims. I would have preferred to collect $$$ from the creditor but this client just wanted to go home and have some peace of mind. Often we can cure problems with a negotiated settlement. In an FDCPA case filed in bankruptcy court the client has a minimum recover of 1000 dollars often giving the client a free bankruptcy. Sometimes the creditor needs an attitude adjustment. In this case the creditor brought a knife to a gun fight and quickly exited the case.

Expertise and Execution

Had concerns before my meeting with Nick. He was very informative and communicated clearly my options so that I could make the best decision for my circumstances. I highly recommend him.

What makes us happy is when we can take the burden from their shoulders. We try to show them how to budget and the way out of their problems. Sometimes we get clients that refuse to change beliefs or patterns of behavior that keep them stuck in poverty and overpaying creditors and bad loans that should never should have been made in the first place. Bankruptcy is not something to be ashamed of. Instead it is a fresh start on a new budget often after a tragic event in life. It is an opportunity to learn and change to something far more successful and to get rid of burdens that keep you poor.

Overcharged and ignored

I had a free consultation with Mr. Thompson after first meeting I felt that I could move forward with him. We spent a part of the of my time talking about general things. That meeting should have been free. I asked Mr. Thompson to request the court for an extension or delay at least a 10 days for... the court action to give me an opportunity to pay a contractor that had a lien on my property his money. I had one personal meeting with Mr. Thompson for at least one hour, I had another telephone call for less than 3 minutes. He filed a one page request for an extension and sent a copy to the plaintiff attorney. That was the extent of my contact with Mr. Thompson. After he called to request my file/ or a copy of the complaint from the plaintiff attorney there was nothing else he needed to do fro my case. I expected the money in to pay the contractor so I knew it would be soon. The money came in I paid the contractor 29k, I called Mr. Thompson and told him that I was ready to pay the attorney however the attorney wanted to charge me fees he told me to handle it myself and negotiate what I could because it would cost me if he made the calls. He charge me 600.00 for a one page document and a free meeting when he told me initially he charged 200k an hour he did less that one hours work. I am real disappointed in him and would not refer anyone else to him . I asked him to return the difference of the retainer and he refused. He sent me an invoice which did not make any sense to me. I would have thought he would have been more honest than he was. He refused to return any of my retainer. Real disappointed with what he did. I was promised several calls and did not get it.

A foreclosure was filed by a contractor after Ms. Mitchell refused to pay. Their attorney refused to settle due to Ms Mitchell's broken promises to pay and claims the contractor didn't do the work, didn’t do quality work and talking to them in a degrading manner. She hired us. She said she needed 10-30 days to get a loan to pay off the debt. We got her 90. We worked at least 4-5 hours drafting, filing and arguing a motion, wrote letters, and made phone calls and charged her 500 dollars. We did our work perfectly and obtained over and above the results she requested. She felt entitled to a refund, wanted us to do additional work for free and spoke to us in the same degrading manner she did with the contractor. We have since allowed her the opportunity to find another attorney.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
