Nick C. Thompson is a dedicated attorney focusing on bankruptcy and foreclosure defense, serving the Louisville, Kentucky area. With a legal career spanning over 30 years, he focuses on utilizing Chapters 7 and 13 to help manage financial challenges like mortgage, business, student loan, and income tax debts for individuals and small businesses. Since 1991, Nick has built a reputation for excellence in consumer bankruptcy law. Committed to providing personalized service, he has limited his practice to fewer than 20 cases per month since 2005, ensuring each client receives the dedicated attention they deserve, without delegation to paralegals or junior attorneys.
Nick's rich background includes a significant role as an assistant attorney general in West Virginia, where he contributed to the state tax code development. His financial acumen is further supported by his experience in inventory accounting for an oil company and working with lenders. While he has the training to be a CPA, Nick chose to focus on law, practicing in federal court. His legal career has been diverse, with positions as a prosecuting attorney, assistant county attorney, and a federal public defender under the CJA program, reflecting his commitment to legal excellence and client advocacy.

I cannot recommend him more highly!

Nick is there when you need help....I'm proof.
Mr. Thompson was my BK attorney back in 2008 and I was impressed with his ability to give accurate guidence when the wolf of debt was at my door back then. Well now years later an issue arised from my past with potential devastating implications....or so at least I thought. I called and he gave my i...
We were able to sue the creditor back in this case. FDCPA cases are strict liability where if a client violates the code the recovery is almost guaranteed. In this case the creditor was happy to dismiss his claims. I would have preferred to collect $$$ from the creditor but this client just wanted to go home and have some peace of mind. Often we can cure problems with a negotiated settlement. In an FDCPA case filed in bankruptcy court the client has a minimum recover of 1000 dollars often giving the client a free bankruptcy. Sometimes the creditor needs an attitude adjustment. In this case the creditor brought a knife to a gun fight and quickly exited the case.
