About Lori

My primary motivator is making a difference in the lives of my clients and helping them as they move through transitions in their lives.  Because of the kind of work I do, I get the honor of revealing the light at the end of the tunnel while shepherding people through what may well be one of the most stressful times in their lives.  

There is a special place in my heart for children.  I am a mother of three little girls who was primarily raised by my father and stepmother from the age of 8 onward.  This gives me a unique and balanced perspective on parental fitness and creative solutions in the context of custody. My own parents divorced when I was four years old and I was later involved in a years-long custody battle, so I strive to help my clients protect their children throughout the process without compromising each client's goals and desires.  

On a personal note, I am happily married with three children.  I am a Christian.  I regularly attend church and I believe love, justice, and grace can all coexist.  I also believe that life is a gift of uncertain duration, and therefore that it should be lived in an unregrettable fashion.  

Practice areas

  1. Divorce and separation: 50%

  2. Child custody: 25%

    Legal matters involving children are especially sensitive. I strive to be sensitive to the children involved (because they didn't choose their situation), while still working to achieve my clients' objectives.

  3. Alimony: 15%

    I handle post-divorce alimony and child support modifications. Changes in circumstances can lead to changes in payments to be made, but modification is far from a foregone conclusion and it is anything but simple math.

  4. Uncontested divorce: 10%

    I offer flat-fee uncontested divorces. The amount of the fee varies based on the complexity of the matter.

I would contact you to discuss a resolution of your issue, but unfortunately, you left your review anonymously, so I do not know who you are and cannot match the experience you described with any case I have handled. I will say, without meaning to argue with you or question how you perceived your experience, that this is not the way I generally conduct myself as an attorney, and I could not even begin to guess which of my clients or former clients you might be. I do not generally delay filing important paperwork, and I do generally respond to clients' efforts at communication. I also cannot recall a time where a client has requested a copy of documentation that I have failed to provide, and I certainly do not recall a client needing to visit the courthouse to get any documents. This review was hard for me to read. I am demoralized and hurt because I care deeply for my clients and their children. My cases often keep me up at night and I consider it an honor to walk with my clients through the valley of divorce. For those reasons, this review breaks my heart not for myself, but for you. I have had a lot going on personally lately, as I was involved in a bad car accident a few weeks ago and then lost my grandfather just yesterday after an extended illness. I have tried to be attentive to my clients in the face of all of this. With that said, I am not offering any excuses. I take your concerns seriously and I want to discuss them with you to determine how I might better serve you and future clients.
