Maybe a bill collector is calling to collect a debt you owe, but cannot pay, or a creditor is calling to collect a debt you dispute or feel you don’t owe. While collection agencies may have a right to collect debt, if they obey the law when they do, you have the right to hold them responsible if they subject you to abuse, disrespect, or lies. Because of laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you may be entitled to a cash settlement and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act may entitle you to recover money for any actual damage collectors cause, and the court may award an additional penalty of up to $1,. TOO many lawyers are consumed with pandering for business which is equally why soooo many clients scream that "lawyers suck!" because they "never give a straight answer" or "they took all my money and didn't do ANYTHING" or "told me I was wrong when I KNOW I am right." This occurs because many lawyers have learned like others in the "cancel culture" to say what's needed to get paid and worry about the details later. Its no great irony that the same people offended by honesty, direct opinions and focused on problem solving not "feelings," are so often the exact same people above when they hired lawyers based on "feel good" comments, marketing rhetoric like "treat you like family" and "get justice" that promoted unrealistic expectations and the usual result of unfulfilled promises and more "hurt feelings." Sadly, this is a growing failing in the profession fostered by a systemic need for people to "like us" or "appreciate us" always seeking 5 star approval while ignoring that 50% of the people in any legal environment will always loathe lawyers, because someone has to lose.........One should always ask, if any person or business always has all 5 stars, how could they EVER be honest with EVERYONE without ever offending ANYONE?
