William Tyson has had vast experience in the criminal justice system for more than twenty-three years. In 1978 Tyson began working as a law enforcement officer. During this time he investigated complex organized crime cases as a member of the narcotics unit. Many of these investigations lasted several years and utilized wiretaps as investigative aids. He attended numerous training classes conducted by the United States Department of Justice and was a member of several multi-jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) narcotic task force investigations.
After graduating from Law School in 1991 Tyson became a prosecutor in the Tampa Bay area. During his tenure with the State Attorney’s Office Tyson conducted over 100 jury trials for crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, drug trafficking, and DUI manslaughter. As a member of the State Attorney DUI Manslaughter prosecution unit for over five years, he completed several advanced DUI schools and is also a graduate of the National College of District Attorneys Advanced Trial Program. William Tyson was appointed by the governor through an Executive Order as a Special Prosecutor for Hillsborough County.
Tyson’s teaching experience includes positions as an adjunct criminal law professor at St. Petersburg Junior College and as a lecturer in DUI legal strategy at Stetson University College of Law.
As a former State Prosecutor, he witnessed first hand the strategies and tactics used by the prosecution. In that position, he was also privy to the State's areas of weakness. By learning his adversary's technique and approach from the inside, and after practicing criminal defense, he is in a position to help you make an informed decision about your case.

Bill took his time and explained the process of the way the Judicial system worked especially In relevance to my case. Not only did he make me feel like I was in safe hands. So, did his office staff and I couldn’t be more grateful, Bill saved my future with my professional license and I would highly...

The decision to hire Mr. Tyson to represent my fiancée on his vop charges for absconding was one of the best I've made in my life. While all the other attorneys in the area were overcharging me (I guess cause we're New Yorkers) and telling me the case was complicated and would most likely carry a pri...

William made me feel at ease from the first few minuets we spoke on the phone.. He came highly recommended from a Pinellas lawyer that couldnt handle my Hillsborough case.Lets just say he kept me from making some big errors in my original approach to my case. He calls and keeps me well informed, and...
"It my pleasure to highly endorse Mr. William "Bill" Tyson. I have known Bill for 18 years. He was my supervisor at the State Attorney's Office. I learned a great deal from Bill. His trial skills are second to none. As a defense attorney, he aggressively advocates for his clients. He is highly respected among lawyers and judges. His years of experience and knowledge pays off for his clients as he is able to achieve tremendous results."
"I have known Mr. Tyson for twenty years. We were prosecutors together for several years and I have worked with him numerous times as a defense attorney. I never hesitate to refer a client to Mr. Tyson because I know him to be an extremely knowledgeable attorney who works hard to protect his client's rights. You will not go wrong having Mr. Tyson in your corner!"
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Tyson is one of those lawyers that you just trust. I have known Mr. Tyson for over 10 years, and I have known him to be an excellent advocate. I fully endorse Mr. Tyson."
"I first met Bill Tyson while I was serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Tampa. He was the defense attorney on many cases that I prosecuted. I was always impressed by Bill. He works hard for his clients and is well respected by prosecutors, judges, and defense attorneys. I recommend Bill Tyson without hesitation."
"I've had the pleasure of knowing Bill Tyson for over two decades. We were prosecutors together and are colleagues in criminal defense in Tampa. I regularly refer matters to Bill when I have a conflict with a particular client. He is thorough, diligent and able to manuever effortlessly throughout the courtrooms in Hillsborough County. He is well-liked and well-respected by his colleagues and judges alike. I highly recommend Bill Tyson."
"Bill Tyson is the "go to" DUI & criminal defense lawyer in Tampa. His background and experience includes valuable insight gained from working as a former police officer and former Florida state prosecutor. He limits his legal practice to strictly Hillsborough county cases. This results in daily interaction with Tampa judges and prosecutors. I consider his knowledge of the customs and practices of his adversary and the presiding judge to be a valuable asset that he can often use to his client's benefit. This lawyer enjoys and excellent reputation in the legal community. The clients I have referred to him over the years have all expressed great satisfaction with the service he provided. You will find that William Tyson has a pleasant personality and is easy to work with. This is a highly experienced professional who is committed to aggressively defending his clients. His background, experience and preparation have translated into a very successful legal practice."
"I see Bill almost every week in court and he is a lawyer's lawyer. He went out his way to not only offer unique insight in a pending case I had, but he offered his services and the services of his staff to assist me in serving my client; indeed, a rare attribute. It was because of his advice that I was able to effectively serve my client's best interest. His contribution is the definition of being a professional."
"I have known Bill Tyson for 10 years and have seen first hand how thoroughly and meticulously he prepares for trial. While I worked at the State Attorney's Office with him, he had a reputation among the other prosecutors of being the lawyer you went to who had all the answers to your questions. He is well respected among other lawyers and the judges he practices before. Bill genuinely cares about people, and his client's legal matters are no exception. I recommend his services with complete confidence."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. I had the pleasure of working with this lawyer for several years and know him to be not only competent but extremely concerned about his clients and their needs."
"I am a St. Petersburg criminal defense attorney who limits his practice to only Pinellas County cases. I have found the customs and practices at the Tampa courthouse to differ greatly from those at our local Clearwater Criminal Court Complex. If you have a pending criminal case in Tampa, it is my firm belief that you need an experienced Hillsborough County lawyer. Bill Tyson knows his way around that courthouse. He can be found representing clients at that locale on a daily basis. Tyson is a former police officer, as well as, a former state prosecutor. I can think of no better background and experience for handling a DUI or criminal defense matter. A great number of people visit my St. Petersburg Office asking for advice on a pending Tampa case. They always get referred to Bill Tyson."
