Biography
Michael has over thirty five years of trial experience serving Metro Atlanta and the West Georgia area. Michael proudly calls himself a consumer lawyer. He represents consumers in auto fraud and lemon car claim. Michael is recognized state wide as a leader in consumer claims involving auto fraud and has won several appellate court decisions favoring consumers. Mauk v. Pioneer Ford, Raysoni v. Payless Auto, Edel v Southtowne. Michael receives referrals for his expertise from lawyers all over the state. Michael has received the highest ratings from his peers and the judiciary being recognized as an AV Preiminent Lawyer through Martindale Hubbell and recognistion as a "Super Lawyer".
Michael has spent the last 21 years as a Special Assistant Attorney General representing the interests of the State and the County in protecting children in dependency cases. Michael spent 11 previous years as Carroll County Public Defender. Michael has personally tried hundreds of cases before the State and Federal Courts of Georgia. He has also done pro bono legal work for the Georgia Legal Services Program, and has been recognized as a "Star Performer" for representation of women in domestic violence divorces who could not afford an attorney to help them get out of the cycle of abuse.
Born and raised in Carroll County, Michael is the son of Emery Flinn, Jr. and Elizabeth Flinn. He attended Oak Mountain Academy where he was Valedictorian in 1978. He attended the University of West Georgia with a pre law major and graduated magna cum laude. Michael then attended the University of Georgia School of Law from which he graduated cum laude in 1985.
Michael entered the practice of law in 1985 when he joined the former Word, Cook and Word, Attorneys. They immediately put Michael in Court where he tried jury trials in lemon car cases. One year later, Michael formed the firm of Word & Flinn with Gerald P. Word. Michael and Jerry served as public defenders and maintained a thriving private practice for over ten years. Michael has been in solo private practice for the past twenty five years.
Michael is married to the former Marni Pinkerton, owner of Ms. Marni’s Pre School. Marni has lived in Carrollton most of her life and is a graduate of the Carrollton City School system and the University of West Georgia. They have three children, Katy, Justin and Logan. Michael and Marni are members of Carrollton First United Methodist Church. Michael was a volunteer soccer coach with the Carrollton Parks and Recreation Program for over 20 years. He was instrumental in beginning the select soccer program and the four year old program. He was recognized as Athletic Volunteer of the Year in 1997. He was recognized as a Georgia Youth Soccer Regional Volunteer of the year in 2005. In addition to graduating from the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy, Michael has served his community as President of the Carrollton Jaycees and as Empty Stocking Fund Chairman for two years. Michael was recognized for his community service efforts with the Crutchfield Memorial Award. Michael has also served on the Board of Trustees of Oak Mountain Academy which his three children attend.

Lemon Law Tiger!!
As I presented my situation a little late, Mr.Flinn took my case anyway. It was a long process and he also informed me that we may not recover if the entity never pays up. He never gave up and after almost 4 years he got me my money back!!!! Thanks again Mr. Mike Flinn

reached out to Mr. Flinn about a shady car deal and it took him week to return my call and once he did he was very rude and never listen to what I had to say he was in a rush to get me off the phone I was very upset about this because he not only made me feel unimportant but as if my little case was ...

Replied last November 12, 2015It did take me a week to respond to this caller as I was out of the office sick with pneumonia. I did return all calls received during that time. I am very sorry this caller was unhappy with the free information I provided. I am able to tell fairly quickly sometimes that I cannot provide legal assistance for some consumers.

Replied last June 12, 2014I was on vacation when the caller contacted my office for information. When I returned I had over 50 phone messages from callers who found my on my web page www.georgiaconsumerlawyer.com. I give a great deal of information on this web page. I returned those phone callas as quickly as I was able. When I spoke to this caller I learned that she had obtained her emissions test certificate after initially calling me. Having practiced consumer law for 29 years, I have learned that there are some victims of consumer protection violations that I cannot help. It is an unfortunate fact that Georgia law does not favor consumers. This is why Governor Deal claims Georgia is ranked number one for business. I wish I could help every caller that calls me, but I can't. Sometimes it is because the law is against us. Sometimes it is because I know that there is no economical advantage in trying. I am sorry that this caller did not like the free information I provided.
