In 1993, Mr. Tharp graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts. He then studied law at Emory University School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 1996. That same year, he was admitted to practice law in the state of Georgia.

Family law matters are often difficult for people to go through, given the intense emotions that are involved. Mr. Tharp understands this and sits down with clients to help them put these emotions aside. He then educates clients about their rights and options, giving them the ability to make decisions that will be of benefit to them at the current time, as well as in the future. Mr. Tharp believes in trying to achieve results for clients amicably but will take the matter into a courtroom, if necessary. He is known for his great compassion and respect for clients’ feelings and challenges.

Civic involvement is important to Mr. Tharp. He has been involved with various debate projects including extensive involvement in the formative years of the Atlanta Urban Debate League. For his efforts in this area, Emory University presented Mr. Tharp with the Warren Akin Outstanding Alumni Contribution award.

Simply The Best Family Law Attorney In The State Of Georgia

From the outset, Mr. Tharpe was there for me, both personally, professionally, and emotionally. Easy to speak to, yet extremely intelligent and dynamic, he is an out of the box thinker in the most difficult of times. He not only fought for what was right, but he fought for what was fair; for myself, and my children. I can never thank him enough for his time, energy, and worth ethic. Simply stated, if you are contemplating hiring a family law/divorce attorney, Bob should be your first call.

Wise, tenacious and strategic winner

Tenacious. Took a difficult case and plotted a long-term winning strategy that worked ! Possesses deep insight into character and behavior of other people and put it to use. Deep knowledge of law and great consultation skills. Kept me on the good outcome side of a difficult divorce. Knows when to pick up the phone, and is sensitive to needs.

Compassionate & Knowledgeable Attorney!!!

Attorney Bob Tharp helped me through a very difficult case to say the least. I was unable to retain a lawyer during my actual divorce, but two years later was referred to Bob by a friend and he recommended filing for a modification. Upon first review, my case appeared to be a lost cause, but because of his years of experience and vast knowledge of divorce law and the process, he was able to win my case and put me in a much more favorable situation. Bob is by far the most approachable attorney I have met to date, he was always there for me during this tough time, and he really seemed to be caring and empathetic.

A Professional who you can Trust

I have completely enjoyed and valued working with Robert Tharp so far. While our interactions have been brief it is clear that I am working with a personable, professional and dedicated Attorney. Robert is not like many attorney's that I have worked with who bill "by the minute". He is extremely careful with his billings and I have received great value for the advice that he has delivered. I found Robert to be extremely knowledgeable on Family and Business Law with good insight to Wills and Trust work, all of which I needed in my case. He also was able and very willing to connect me with the right legal resources when it was outside of his area of expertise. I highly recommend Robert to any one who may be in need of good legal representation or advice within his areas of speciality.

Effective Child Custody Advocate

As an attorney, I realize the importance of skilled, knowledgeable and experienced legal representation. When my ex-wife sought additional child support for our daughter, I retained the services of Meriwether & Tharp LLC. Mr. Tharp and his law firm were instrumental in helping me to gain custody of my daughter and protecting my rights as a single parent and father.

BAD EXPERIENCE/DO NOT RECOMMEND THARP

Would NOT recommend Bob Tharp. He is not prepared, does not work with any detailed information I provided and not knowledgable. Only concerned about how many hours he can bill the client. My divorce dragged into long periods of time and hearing nothing from him- his paralegal did all the work. Too late in the proceedings to change and too costly--should have fired him early on and gotten another-- He is the worst, doesn't 't care about the outcome only cares about the billable hours.

Poor Choice

This lawyer is terrible, is calling and taking consultations and not actually taking any clients, just having people come in for consultations and billing for them. Any divorce lawyer that has his receptionist taking payment up front and will not give you an hour of their time for a phone consultation and only wants you to come in and keeps looking at his watch and is not prepared even though you have gone thru your case over the phone is terrible. I would not recommend him to anyone and would avoid this firm at all costs.
