Jason W. Karasik is a Partner with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Jason has also been managing Meriwether & Tharp's marketing since 2014. Jason obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 2008. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he began work as a policy fellow for Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. Jason worked with the House Education Committee and the Senate Education and Youth Committee while doing education policy research. Additionally, he worked closely with the Governor’s Policy Director in providing solutions for Georgia’s education issues.
Jason obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. While in law school, he received the Dean’s Scholarship and was an Executive Editor of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law. After his first year of law school, Jason worked for three different Federal Judges in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. Jason’s experience in Federal Court afforded him an insider’s look at what it takes to succeed in trial proceedings. After his second year of law school, he worked for a large firm doing mostly commercial litigation work. During law school, Jason quickly developed a significant interest in family law while working in the University of Michigan’s Child Advocacy Law Clinic (CALC). Here, he provided legal assistance to people going through difficult times in their lives and truly enjoyed helping his clients achieve a positive outcome. In CALC, Jason represented abused and abandoned children as a Lawyer Guardian Ad Litem. His job was to determine what was in the best interests of the child and advocate for their interests in court. Jason also represented parents in custody disputes, and he acted as of counsel for the prosecutor in child welfare cases.
On a personal level, Jason enjoys fly-fishing on the Chattahoochee River and in the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. He also enjoys cooking, golf, college football and automotive repair and restoration.

"Jason is a strong advocate for his clients. He is hard-working and very knowledgeable in the law of domestic relations. These qualities enable him to adequately and competently represent his clients."
"I highly recommend Jason. He is incredibly smart and organized, and he is a hard worker. He listens to his clients and addresses their needs, and he is also a fierce negotiator. Overall, Jason is simply a great lawyer and a great person."
"I endorse this lawyer. Despite excelling in school, Jason has a hunger to continue to learn more. Not satisfied with the current books on domestic law, he decided to start collecting the cases that are most commonly used in family law cases so that he (and the whole firm) can serve his clients better. He enjoys digging into the details of a client’s case so that he can give them sound, reasoned advice. He strives to be more prepared that the opposing attorney at any hearing or mediation to help ensure a victory at Court or a Settlement at mediation. What is arguably most important, however, is that his research and preparation allows him to advise his client on whether it is in their best interest to settle or to take a matter to the Judge."
"I have known Jason for years, and I strongly recommend this attorney. Jason is professional, diligent, and knowledgeable. Jason’s work ethic and dedication to both his clients and practice make him the ideal attorney for handling any family law issue."
"I have worked with Jason on several cases. Jason is professional and always well-prepared. Jason works diligently to provide his client with a positive outcome in a cost effective manner. Jason is very knowledgeable about family law and is a dedicated advocate for his clients. I endorse Jason."
"I have had the pleasure of working with Jason for the past year. He is intelligent, diligent, and hardworking. He works very hard to meet the client's goals for the representation and often exceeds the client's expectations. I would highly recommend him."
"Jason is detail oriented and diligent when representing his clients. His work is well researched and complete, which provides strong legal arguments for his clients when appearing at mediation or court."
"I endorse this lawyer--Jason is bright and energetic, and extremely talented. He would be an asset to any case."
"Jason joined our firm in 2013. He has worked with me on numerous cases and handles cases efficiently and in a cost effective manner. His strong academic background has been sustained after graduation where he has reviewed more case law than any associate I have worked with in the past. It is my pleasure working with him and I fully endorse his work."
"Jason is a creative and practical lawyer. He is passionate about his practice and argues his cases professionally and vigorously. He is always prepared."
"Insightful and pragmatic, Jason gets the job done while keeping the best interest of the client in mind. Due to his calm and rational approach, co-workers and opposing counsel alike value and welcome the opportunity to work with Jason."
