I was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1997, and not long after I was accepted to the bar I focused all of my efforts on representing clients in divorce and other family law related matters. My years of work as an attorney have allowed me to successfully counsel and represent clients in all types of divorce and domestic relations cases, and as a result of that experience I understand what it takes to obtain the best results for clients. I have also undergone training as a mediator, a guardian ad litem, and in collaborative law, and I regularly utilize all of those skills in the representation of clients.
My years of practice as a divorce lawyer also lead me to join a group of like-minded attorneys focused on practice in the areas of divorce and family law. I am a partner at the divorce law firm of Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, where our goal is to provide clients with skilled legal representation they need to successfully resolve issues relating to divorce and other difficult family law legal matters. Every Member of the Meriwether & Tharp team assists clients in the areas of divorce and family law, and as a firm we routinely handle matters related to divorce, child support and child custody, enforcement of existing orders (i.e. contempt actions), preparation of pre- and postnuptial agreements, separation agreements, family violence, juvenile law, adoption, and any and all other family law related matters. Divorce and other family matters can be very stressful, and we have the skill and experience needed to provide our clients with the settlement-focused representation they require in their time of need. Emotions can run high in these types of cases, but that does not mean that a divorce must be "nasty." It is always our goal to avoid unnecessary litigation, and we approach and handle every case with a high level of professionalism that clients have a right to expect from lawyers. We believe that strong representation does not require unreasonably litigious behavior. Settlement is very often the best, most cost-effective option, but if settlement is not possible you need an attorney and a law firm that is best prepared to stand before a judge and fight for you. Meriwether & Tharp is that firm.

I reached out to a few attorneys and decided to go with Meriwether and Tharp after speaking to Todd. He was very patient and understanding as he listened to me. He explained my options based on his extensive background and put my mind at ease during such an emotional time in my life due to contempt...

Todd Orston was the best attorney I could've asked for, and he was worth every penny. My divorce had some complex issues that required a lot of strategy work, and he was always full of good ideas. He is realistic and extremely helpful. He is always good natured, and he even helped me after hours a ...

Todd recently represented me during divorce proceedings with a litigious ex-wife and provided outstanding legal advice and representation throughout and the judge ruled in my favor. I was very pleased with all aspects of his legal service -- including legal strategy, courtroom argumentation, and his ...

Todd is among the most knowledgeable, reasonable and professional attorneys I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Todd is extremely effective in a courtroom; however, he understands the toll a trial can take on a client, and he is very effective in resolving his cases favorably to his client...
"Todd is one of those natural born lawyers. He is smart and has great instincts. He's quick witted and simply a pleasure to work with. I'm happy to endorse him."
"I practice in the same office with Todd and conferred with him very often about a wide variety of legal issues. He is a highly skilled attorney that is well respected in the legal community. His breadth of experience and his seasoned professional judgment are great assets to our clients."
"I had the pleasure of working opposite Todd on a divorce case several years ago. I found him to be a zealous and effective advocate for his client. His knowledge of the law and legal ability are exceptional. Todd also conducts himself ethically and professionally. I highly endorse this lawyer."
"Todd Orston is the absolute best family lawyer in all of metro Atlanta. He has complete dedication to his clients, and is one of the smartest, most strategic attorneys I have ever known. I have known Todd for over a decade and personally seen the results he is able to obtain. There is no one better, period."
"I have worked with Todd for over five years and I am constantly impressed by his superior litigation skills. Todd is a zealous advocate who consistently goes above and beyond for his clients."
"Todd's ability to get his clients a positive resolution is unparalleled. Todd excels at advocating for clients in mediation and in the court room. I wholeheartedly endorse Todd."
"I endorse this lawyer. Todd and I have known each other for years. Todd is an excellant trial lawyer (I know this from having litigated against him) and a great person. He has heart and is genuinely caring toward his clients."
"I endorse this lawyer. I first met Todd years ago in a very difficult case involving family violence. What I was most impressed by him is how he could so zealously advocate in the Courtroom, but then not take any of the Courtroom battles personally. This ability to be passionate for his client while not taking offense when the opposing counsel did the same for their client allows him to be able to effectively negotiate for his client when he is not in the Courtroom. He does not get blinded by emotion to the point where he loses his objective analysis of the case, freeing him to give his client the proper legal advice for the situation. All too often lawyers can become blind advocates and lead their client to take a case to Court when they should settle. Todd has that balance that allows him to work towards effective settlements on behalf of his clients. We are so excited to have him on our team now."
"I first met Todd when he was opposing counsel on a contested matter, and I was immediately impressed by his skill in the courtroom, his understanding of the law and his ability to work with his client. Todd has a compassionate and kind nature and cares a great deal about his clients."
"Todd is a zealous advocate in the courtroom, however he balances his legal knowledge with a keen sense of doing the right thing for his clients."
"I've served as a GAL on a case with Todd and mediated cases with respect to which he was representing one of the parties. He is a skilled, compassionate advocate and knowledgeable family law attorney."
"Attorney Orston was opposing counsel on a divorce with my firm. Todd is the type of lawyer who does not let his ego get in the way of reaching the best outcome for his client. Todd is highly knowledgeable in domestic relations and acts in a professional way. Todd's firm also worked hard to make sure the lawsuit concluded quickly by returning calls in a timely manner and keeping appointments. I endorse this lawyer and his firm."
